ronny
Competition:O Byrne Cup Gaelic Football. Date:24th Jan Time:2oc Match:Louth v Athlone IT. Louth at 1/3. Odds are short here but this is my bet of 2010 so far!Louth have already been training 3 months under new manager Peter Fitzpatrick even thogh its only January. They were much sharper and fitter than Wicklow last weekend. They should be far too strong for this college side today.Lump at these odds in William Hill. ronny
Re: Gaelic Games Start of proper competitive action this weekend in our national league with all 4 divisions throwing in.With team line ups not been known until weekend plus no real form with any side in early February, itl be more looking on than betting most will be doing. In saying that, small punts on the following maybe(wait for teams). Westmeath v Donegal -3 at 21/20.There is form here with Donegals excellent McKenna cup win and Westmeaths abysmal performances in the O Byrne Cup defeats to DCU and Carlow. Louth -1 v Wexford at 10/11.Louths higher fitness levels added to their recent confidence boosting victories should get them over the line here. Clare v Wicklow at 5/4.If this were a championship clash in July,id back Wicklow all the way. However its quite the opposite.Mickos teams are notoriously slow, almost uninterested starters to league campaigns.Their defeats in the O Byrne cups back up this fact.We know little about Clares preparations but this home tie represents a good chance to get points on the board. Also a small 12/1 accum on:Louth(4/6),Kerry(8/11),Donegal -3(21/20),Clare(5/4).

IrishTW
Re: Gaelic Games Good luck Ronny I'm on Waterford @ 21/10 with Boylesports. Betting on Waterford in every league game would have you well in profit the last few years. They travelled to Leitrim yesterday for this match so tiredness should not be an issue. They ahve only played 1 match this year so far where they came within a few minutes of beating all ireland champs Kerry in Killarney only to be denied by 2 late goals. Leitrim's performances in the Connacht league were woeful according to their fans and they are not very hopeful at all for the coming year. Leitrim have lost a few important players to injury and emigration. 21/10 is BIG value on Waterford IMO.

I feel that Shamrocks are the bet of the weekend,-2 points even money. Throw in Portumna -12,Derry to bring the Dubs back down to earth and Kildare to bounce back from last weeks drubbing and you have a nice accumm. Shamrocks -2 evens Portumna -12 10/11 Derry 13/8 Kildare -2 11/
ronny
Re: Gaelic Games So round two begins this weekend.Division 1 looks quite tricky so Im going to leave that alone and head to Div 2,3 and 4.Handicap prices set by bookies for this round do look v accurate and hard to beat however. With many teams not announcing their line ups until tonight, its advisable to wait till saturday to put money down. But for now,we'l go with these: Donegal -2 v Laois at 4/5 paddypower- Donegal have started the season brightly winning the McKenna Cup and then easily beating Westmeath in Mullingar last weekend.Laois overcame Tipp but can't see them travelling back from Ballyshannon this weekend with any points. Sligo v Louth +2 at 10/11-we've got to stick with the Wee county after all they've done! This will be a very tight game, could even be a draw so Im taking the +2 option instead of the straight 7/4 price on winning the game. (A small, crazy 45/1 accum then on the above two plus Down, Armagh -5,Kildare -2,Limerick -4,)

Figono7
Re: Gaelic Games Ronny, I think you may be plesently surprised... that Louth +2 handicap bet came off yesterday! See link to match report: http://www.sligogaa.ie/ArticleDetail.aspx?articleid=7066 The result was in fact 1-14 to 2-10. Incorrecly reported by some on the web as 1-17 to 2-10. Great job on the tips. Some really fantastic picks thus far. Keep it up. Much appreciated.

ronny
Re: Gaelic Games Division 4 football this Saturday and the ist round of national hurling leagues.Early days yet and bookies dont even have match handicaps up at the moment. However, one early bet Im having is Waterford v Dublin at 6/4. The Dubs are underdogs here away to Wford this Sunday.I do think, having already seen their team for this clash that they are worth backing.Waterford, due to a couple of suspensions and letting older players miss the ist couple of league games are there for the taking this weekend.Dublin have named a strong line-up with in my opinion 11 or 12 of a possible Championship side included. If they're serious about kicking on this year,Dublin ought to beating a Waterford side missing key players. Figono7
Re: Gaelic Games Football bets looking a bit thin on the ground this weekend. Considering Louth 8/15 in the O'Byrne Cup Final (Keeping your trend going Ronny! :D) Even though; 1.) There a skinny price 2.) There carring a few knocks - see link below http://www.hoganstand.com/Louth/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=124229 Reason; D.C.U playing the Sigerson Cup semi final against NUI Maynooth next Friday. So a possible shadow team could be on display. This bet is entirely dependant on this. A full strength D.C.U would be an entirley different prospect! Anyone with any info on D.C.U's intentions for this game?

Anyone with any info on D.C.U's intentions for this game? Hi Figono and :welcome Here is the Louth GAA forum topic for this match on Hoganstand: http://www.hoganstand.com/Louth/MessagePage.aspx?TopicID=43550 According to one guy he expects Louth to win easily because DCU will field a second string team but says if DCU were to play their first choice team that they'd hammer Louth! This week I'm on Waterford @ 7/4 Ladbrokes (Saturday 2.30 pm) to beat Carlow in football. Waterford have won 2/2 so far with Carlow on 1/2 having lost last week to promotion favourites Limerick. I wasn't expecting such a big price on Waterford. Waterford have one or two players returning from injury and having already won away to Leitrim the trip to Carlow will hold no fears. I see it as a 50-50 match. Also in hurling I've taken Carlow @ 7/2 Ladbrokes to win away to Antrim. Carlow beat Antrim only last week in the Walsh shield, the losers group of the Walsh cup. Admittedly the league is a different story but 7/2 is a huge price on Carlow who also beat Limerick recently, a bit of a scalp for Carlow despite Limerick's current hurling crisis. Carlow +4 @ 11/10 Paddy Power is also worth a bet. And I agree with Ronny that Dublin are worth a bet at 6/4 to beat a severely understrength Waterford. ronny
Re: Gaelic Games The Dublin bet is my only single bet this weekend.Match ups a dont look favourable for punters this weekend unfortunately.Anyone interested in a value treble at near 7/1,maybe Limerick -2(NFL Div 4),Tipperary -1(NHL Div 1),Laois -7(NHL Div2). Good kuck all.
