Greenhoff
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Martin Concepcion to beat Kev Hammond @ 1.72 sportingbet. 10 pts. Going to this tomorrow so a bit of an extra incentive to bet on it :unsure Fancy Martin for this one and I'll play at 1.72, neither fighter has much of a chin but I think that Martins power will carry him through this one, he has showed this when he knocked out Matthew Hall and although that was a while ago and he lost his way a bit since, it sounds like he is really back up for this one and all the right noises have been coming out the local papers this week. He is said to have hurt Hammond when they spared together as well. Experience also a key as Hammond has only had about 8 fights whereas Martin has been in the ring with fighters like Alfonso Gomez. Should be a decent fight and the winner of it goes to the Light-Middleweight Prizefighter tournament later this month. Good shout on concepcion! Not seen the recording yet but did'nt expect that. Unlucky yet again foo with that cut. Just can't legislate for it sometimes.

Greenhoff
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Cleverley ITD @ 2.10. Missed the 2.20 that was out there, but happy enough. Coming into his own now, showing decent power to back up a wonderful skillset. That comes with confidence, and the stoppage wins have become the norm in recent cleverley fights. On paper, stepping up in class against the once stopped Italian, but going off Brancalions last fight, the light-hitting opponent seems to be at the dead end of his career. A strange sight indeed, to see him take one knee without being hit v braehmar, before cashing his ticket in the ist round. Cleverley on the verge of big things, with frankie to guide the ship, and don't envisage a 34 year old Brancalion upsetting the applecart tomorrow. To make matters worse for the Italian, this fight was originally scheduled for italy, before his backers cried off staging it. They then hawked the fight around UK promoters incl' hatton and FW, who won the right. He's had a long long career, and once cleverley has found his range with some pretty spiteful shots, can see Brancalion and his team, opting for the return ticket home. superfoo
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Daws v Cook This may have come a little early in his comeback for Cook, having only boxed 10 rounds since 2005. 6 of those being in prizefighter against the upcoming Grant and then getting dropped on a decision loss to the naturally bigger and bigger punching Rees - who in all fairness would probably beat Daws himself. Daws boxed the fight of his life when stopping Colin Lynes and his stamina is well known - always seeming to come on in the second half of the fight. It is likely that Cook will have a decent start but I
superfoo
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread expect Daws to come on strong later in the bout. Cooks euro title was at lightweight so now fighting at 140 you would expect Daws to be the naturally bigger but maybe not necessarily stronger. Either way I think if he can stay out of trouble early on I expect Daws to take over and maybe wear down Cook who could just be lacking slightly considering the layoff. Recomended bet 10 pts Daws bt Cook rounds 9-12 13/2 @ Ladbrokes

Greenhoff
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Get on this whilst it's still there. Might not last. Dutch De Gale in rounds 1,2,3,4 for a tad under 1.66. Truly a gift. Dutching him in 1,2,3 returns a massive 2.50! His opponent tonight has no right to be in the same ring as him. Been stopped in all 5 of his defeats. All inside 4 rounds! 4 of them in 3 rounds. De Gale has to put these guys away in proper fashion, as his rivally with Groves picks up pace. His blistering speed and combo's will banjo this fella without a doubt, if the ref has'nt stepped in first. The more adventurous might like the 7/1 about a 1 round ko. LtfcPete
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Along the same lines as Greenhoff, I've dutched Chisora in 7,8,9,10 for just under 5.00 with Boyles.. I hate Chisora and I think his power is somewhat questionable but I can remember Baker being on death's door late on versus Williams in a 3 rounder (!) and yesterday he weighed in too heavy for the scales which only went up to 20st so I have serious doubts he can do the full 10 here. I think Chisora is horse sh*t but he should be able to get the job done in the second half of the fight here. Managed to stop Sexton late on for what its worth, and Sexton is a lot better than Baker who clearly has weight/stamina/motivation issues which he admitted in Boxing News this week. 10pts staked in total.. 3.33u, 2.38u, 2.38u and 1.91u @ 15.00, 21.00, 21.00 and 26.00 :hope
LtfcPete
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Cleverly in Rounds 7-12 I've taken too, I think Brancalion will hang around for a while, at least half of the fight.. he's been 12 rounds 5 times and is pretty durable. He was done by Brahmer in 1 last time out like Greenhoff points out but I think facing Brahmer at this point is rather more intimidating than Cleverley who can take some time to finish his opponents. He has taken 7 and 8 to get rid of McIntosh and Fry respectively and was taken the distance by Tony Oakey, too. He only has 3 real early wins (before halfway) from his 18 victories so I definitely think there is some value in taking him to finish Brancalion off in the second half. He's 1.73 to win inside the distance now.. 5pts 3.50 @ SportingBet
superfoo
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Feast of boxing tonight especially the Latin Power card - found bits and pieces but not sure where to put the money. Nice shouts for Cleverly - I fancy mid to late stopppage but missed prices. Really looking forward to Concepcion v Santiago! Dont know anything about Andy Murray but purely on the face of it record wise Fagan maybe looks overpriced at 4/1. Surely Kenna if still out of shape cant handle Barratt. superfoo
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Donaire v Vargas Donaire looks set for big things in my opinion and is on fire with 5 kos in his last 6 including sparking Darchinian and gets a late replacement in Manuel Vargas. Vargas has stepped in on 3 days notice and is going north at least a couple of divisions from minimum weight. Although Vargas has never been stopped apart from his first fight (4 losses) considering the circumatances and big step up in class I think theres a good chance of a Donaire stoppage. I just dont know the best way of doing it. The stoppage is 1/3 but better value in the unders maybe...7.5 - 5/4...8.5 - 10/11...9.5 - 8/11.....was maybe going to split it but will go for the extra rounds at shorter price. superfoo
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Morel v Penalosa Both late in there careers in which the lose falls out of contention. Could be a little tenatative to start but I dont know which way to call it, really is a pick em fight. Neither had ever been stopped until the beating Penasola eventually recived from Juanma - though he did go the full distance with the heavy handed slugger De Leon. Opposites in the way that Morel is slick and elusive but Penalosa is full of heart and right in at you. With
superfoo
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread With Morel not being the biggest of punchers, Penalosas heart and chin, Morels tendancy to avoid being hit I see this fight pretty much going the distance. So with that in mind despite not having a clue of the winner I will go with over 9.5 at 2/5 - quite good as bet365 go 1/3 on over 10.5. Just hope no-one gets old overnight! Greenhoff
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread More than happy with the w/ends results. To the lurkers who pm'ed me about the DeGale gift, you're welcome and i'll say once again, please start posting. The more the merrier. scott lawton/Leva Kirakosyan ITD @ 15/8. Taking this early price, envisage it dropping come fight time, once the forums get into full swing. Saw this guy live a good few years back, when he went toe to toe with a prime Gomez. Came off second best that night, but he hurt gomez, before the manic manc stopped him in his tracks. This guy has ferocious power, and after knocking out less than average opponents on a european tour for the last two years, he's back with a chance of a coveted title. it was a few years ago, but check out his destruction of Johannson on youtube. Brutal. Will have to do it in lawton's backyard amid a raucous atmosphere, but that price is more than generous given his power alone. lawton is an honest pro and game with it, but his own strength is'nt enough to keep the russian at bay imo. Have a soft spot for lawton since he went ahead with that Brit title fight with murray last year, even though murray came in over the limit. Saved the entire televised bill with that gesture! His other defeats were stoppages to Khan and thaxton, but no shame in that. Leva was/is similar quality, and his scathing body shots could be lawtons downfall, just as it was against Murray. 10 pts on this foo, just like other selections in those odds range.:ok

Matt
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread 10pts Martin Concepcion to beat Steve O' Meara. 11/10 various. Think this is a great price, Marts has been working very hard over the last couple of weeks for this and although O Mears has a promising record he hasnt faced anyone with much quality at all looking at his record. Concepcion has been in the ring with Hall, Price and a few others not at the level O'Meara has fought. The short style should suit him as well. 5 pts Neil Sinclair to win Prizefighter 4/1 Bet365 At peak the best fighter in the tournament, age catching up with him but again that might not matter too much in the shorter format, a lot of people expect the winner of Pryce/Sinclair to win the tournament and I would find it hard to argue that, making him the value bet. 5pts Danny Butler to win Prizefighter 13/2 Betandwin. Again, looking for a bit of value here, in the weaker half of the draw and probably the best fighter in the bottom section. Should beat Flourney and then stands a great chance in the semi whoever he fights, which would make the 13/2 a very good price indeed. kevshat
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Couple for me in Prizefighter. 2pts S.O'Meara to win Prizefighter 7/1 Ladbrokes I think this is a nice price on the up and coming Steve O'Meara, particularly when you consider one of the two favourites will have long gone before O'Meara's gloves are laced up. Unknowns tend to do well in Prizefighter (Ovill McKenzie and Coleman Barrett anyone) and I think O'Meara fits the bill here. Importantly he's not in the half of the draw of Pryce/Sinclair - an advantage in itself but he's also got a very shrewd cookie in his corner in the form of Jimmy McDonnell. O'Meara's record may not look that impressive in terms of opponents but he has sparred with the great one - Floyd Mayweather Jnr, and that has to be to his advantage. As long as he isn't caught unaware with a lights out one from Conception, I expect him to beat him and have too much for Butler in the semis if that's his semi final opponent then in the final it's anyones. This is a big price though for me and well worth a go on what should be a great night of boxing. 3pts N.Sinclair to beat B.Pryce 11/8 Boylesports I think this is a big price on the veteran here. I can just about have Bradley Pryce as favourite but over 3 rounds I'm not so sure he's this kind of favourite. I expect a performance from Sinclair here. He has to mean business else why bother at his age, when he's had a decent career. I reckon he can still bang and as Matthew Hall (admittedly much better than this level) showed, Pryce can be send packing early doors. It's interesting to note that Pryce has only had one fight since his arse was handed to him by Hall so there could still be a mental scar there. Although it was 7 years ago, "Sincy" has beaten Bradley Pryce and with a very good KO ratio, I think he could well take Pryce out inside the distance here but I'll play safe and take Sinclair to progress to the semi finals at Pryce's expense. Greenhoff
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Dutching Pryce/Sinclair to reach final for a 10 pt stake at 4/6. This'll look like a bargain for their semi with the winner of Aaron/Hillyard, who should be overwhelmed. Pryce v Sinclair a hard one to predict, but both by a mile have THE power in this tournament. They've mixed in the better company, thus their many ko losses on their record. Last chance saloon for Sinky, who's uttered the dreaded word.. retirement, if he loses here. Has a murderous punch, but an equally dodgy chin. Ko'ed Pryce 7 years ago, which could give him a mental edge but, Pryce was inexperienced back then, and has had many impressive wins since that day. Pryce has had a dietician in his team for this tournament, and if nothing else, we should bow down to him for blitzing the motormouth that is Anthony Small :lol They could play this cagey given their respective power and chin deficiencies, which would disappoint the paying punter, but as soon as a decent punch lands, i envisage them opening up with the meaty stuff. That would make the stoppage odds quite attractive. Dutching their ITD odds for 13/5... 3 pts.
Greenhoff
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Took b365's early show of 100/30 about Hillyard last weekend. Odds have shortened, but it's nothing to do with money coming in, it was just lazy compiling earlydoors. Worth a 1 pt stake imo. He's an underdog for a reason, but this'll be the opening bout of the night, and he's on home ground with solid support. His pressing style, against Aaron's lofty move and jab style could win over the judges in a controversial decision. The fight has Aaron via pts all over it, but at 1/3 there's no value to the punter there. The Manchester boxer has all the moves, but he was stopped emphatically inside two rounds by two European-class boxers in Duddy (made a chunk out of that mismatch) and Small. Granted hillyard is simply domestic class and not in their league, but he's coming down from the 165 lb range for this tournament and has plans to spend any winnings on treatment for his daughter. Outside the bangers that are Pryce, concepcion and Sinclair, he has next best ko %age, admittedly against weaker opposition. could'nt rule out a peach landing buoyed on by a rabid atmosphere, so the 11/1 for a ko worth a speculative tickle. 0.25 pts @ 11/1 hillyard tko etc.

Greenhoff
Re: 2010 Boxing Thread 14.25 pt loss. WD to Aaron. Pity about his lack of pop, cos he has some silky skills. Nice payday for the lad seeing as he's still part-time. Was looking at the Unders for Romero v Mayol. Nice price at 6/4 but was after a few more rounds than the 7.5 on offer. Controversy follows Mayol around recently. Has the most lethal head in boxing, and is'nt afraid to use it. He's shortened to 5/6 from an opening show of evens, and if no MOV line comes out, might just have a dabble. Fighting away in Mexico is always a big ask, but Roach has him tuned to perfection nowadays.
