Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U barcelona defense is not that bad actually. its only a little weaker because they playing attacking football which leaves them vunerable at the back. they can play defensivly and be very solid. i have a feeling that manchester will let them come forward and try to score against them on the counter attack with gigs and ronaldo playing on the wings and rooney and berbetov trying to get on few crosses in the penalty box. i believe messi and ronaldo will be tightly marked which is why i believe they will play just outside the box trying to create oppotunities for other center forwards. i still believe key for barcelona will be henry and with his experience i have tipped him to score the first goal in the match. anyway this game for me is 1-1 or 2-2 draw

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U I've just seen Vidic's price for fgs drop from 22/1 to 16/1 in the last half hour on boylesports. Still might take him at that price though, simply beacuse boylesports will give a matched free bet for the fa cup final for any losing fgs bets. I think barcleona will be very vulnerable defending set pieces, and I fancy vidic to get on the end of something.

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U For me Both to score @1,65. I can't see a boring 0-0 during the 90 minutes. ManU have Ronaldo and Rooney which can score, for Barca Messi Henry Eto'o or Iniesta can score. Other point is, the absenses in the defence for Barca, so ManU will get some chances i think. I believe in a 2-2 FT! I will go for ManU X2 @1,43.

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U Some great posts in here, very interesting. I must admit, I know very little about the continental teams so have found some of the posts from the Barca fans inparticular insightful. Does anyone know any bookie odds on Ronaldo missing a penalty either in 90 mins or AET?

I'm sure Mr Hickie was only trying to add a little comedy to proceedings, dealing in facts is all well and good but not everything is life has to be taken at face value ;). Agreed Henry did score an incredible goal against Manchester United, but no amount of tactical genius can prevent such moments of outrageous individual skill. Finally, while it will never be possible to provide clear evidence that Platini is deliberately attempting to sabotage English hopes in Europe, his blatant distaste, bordering on jealousy, of English success is there for all to see.
i see your ;) and reply ;) i thought the French and English just got along !

That's because we are ;)
You're right I for one will be checking to see how many English players line out tonight, because they are the best ;) should be at least 11 then and with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek, how come nobody mentioned football when they were slagging Johnny Foreigner about stealing all them jobs from the Brits ? apparently they're cheaper to pay as well !

And not to mention a national team. In those days the Croats were better in smartest and fastest. ;)

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U I think with injuries and fitness doubts over several men from each side this will be a tight game, settled on penalties. Hoping its Ronaldo that misses the vital kick, and have backed Barca to win on pens at 10/1 with SJ. Also gone 1-1 at 11/2 with SJ. All the decent players will be marked out the game, someone shit could nab a goal from a set pieces for Man Utd. Step forward John O'Shea, 40/1 FGS SJ.

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U

I just love this English arrogance. English people think they are the best, the smartest, but hey, the whole world is learning english language, so maybe they are right. Let's bomb Platini. I personally hope this will be fair match. And hope that Barca will shout: WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS.
On the contrary, English people are the harshest critics when it comes to English sporting teams. I wouldn't dream of suggesting we have the best cricket team, the greatest athletes or the best golfers etc. When it comes to club football and performance in the champions league the English teams are the best, pointing this out doesn't amount to arrogance it is simply stating the truth of the matter. Just for the record nobody will be happier than me if Barcelona win tonight but I stand by my comments regarding Platini. There is also no need to bomb him, the white flag will be up long before it gets to that stage ;).

OK mate, Spain has the best tennis player, China best ping-pong players, etc. Just one more thing: Italy, Spain and England has the same amount of winners in Champions League, just Italy have most runners-up. White flag turned on, hope it will be great show. It's just one thing I hate by the football: defensive style. That lead to no goals and without goals this game is boring. :) I'll be also happy if Barca win, but if they win I hope with style and fair game. :hope

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U Barca vs Man Utd On paper a very close contest. Looking back at all the posts on this thread - the verdict seems to be split between all three outcomes of - Barca, draw and Man Utd win, perhaps the Man Utd win squeaking it due to the number of UK posters Personally, I think the loss of Fletcher is a big blow to Man Utd - he is a player that could have had an enormous bearing on the outcome of this game and if he had played tonight I would have put my money squarely on the Utd tick column but his ommission on the team sheet adds to the conundrum. Both sides then have players missing and a few players on both side - have a hunch here - are carrying long term injuries. It will be interesting to see if there are any forced substitutions during the first half. The other factor for tonight, that has not been mentioned so far - is the referee - in a tight game like this, perhaps a wrong decision may cost one of the teams, Vidic in particular will have to watch his physical approach. After the Chelsea match, my faith needs to be restored in Uefa referees. No team has successfully defended the Champions League and no side has won back to back European Cups since Ajax. Man Utd tonight are not merely out to win the Champions League but are out to create history and attempt to establish a dynasty in the mould of the great Real Madrid sides of the past. Ferguson is interested in football immortality it seems There is a book that was published 4 or 5 years ago, entitled - 'The Wisdom of Crowds' - the premise of which states, that in some important contexts, the rational decision is to follow the crowd - I think tonight Sir Alex Ferguson's team provides such a context Man Utd win

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U My bets for today: Man Utd to win. I just can't believe Barca will win thisone... They have a good team, but there are to many things pointing in the favour of Man utd: - Barcas flank defenders are suspended. Man utd loves using flanks and with Ronaldo and (Nani?? Giggs?? Rooney??) on the flanks they really can hurt Barca I believe. Toure is an important midfielder, but it wouldn't suprise me if he has to play in defense today. - experience. Not onley with the players. Barca has a few players who know what playing at the highest level is, but there are more players at man utd who know that I think, but also the coaches. Sir Alex Ferguson is, with all respect, an old guy who earned his stripes and knows stuff. Guardiola was a wonderful player, but you can't forget he's not so experienced as a coach witch can be desisive I think - Power: Man Utd has power and that's lacking Barcelona. Who will guard Vidic and Ferdinand with corner kicks??? that brings me to my next bet: Vidic to score first goal. Man Utd is dangerous on corner kicks and barca doesn't have the greatest headers in their team I think. The best they have must be Pique or Pujol, but Pique is playing his first season as starter so can he really keep Vidic than?? Ronaldo to score first goal Just cant forget him ofcourse. to me, he's the best player of the world and why forget him? Man Utd to win without Barca to score Oké, barca is a great attacking team and now they have som trouble in their defence they will have to attack, but I still believe in the Man Utd defence. They have a great defence with Vidic and Ferdinand who are playing together for a long time and a lot of matches now. If Barca can pass those 2 there is still VD Sarr who has found, not is second but 7 breath I think. He's playing as he's onley 25 and he's just proving to be verry important to barca hope to win anything today, good luck to all

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U Done a few fun bets just to keep me interested..... Ronaldo 1st scorer and 3-1 to man utd - 110-1 was 200's earlier 2day :unsure Rooney 1st scorer and 2-1 to man utd - 40-1 Henry 1st scorer and 2-2 draw - 75-1 Vidic 1st scorer - 22-1 Anderson 1st scorer - 25-1 o'shea 1st scorer - 33-1 Ferdinand 1st scorer - 40-1 Also done Man Utd to win on penalties and Chelsea to win on penalties on sunday double £5 returns £440 :rollin GL all....just hoping for a great final unlike last seasons

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U well i will just put my balls on the ground and will watch this match without blinking my eyes :)) both teams are very high quality ...but both has got pros and cons .... for barça if manU plays like chelsea defending 10 guys in the penalty box ..barça wont be able to use their technique very much and the game will be lucked ..so it will be a boring game ... for manU if they play open and barça will punish them severely worse than what PORTO did .... well if you remember last years' match manU was playing cautiously and they won with the goal of tevez ..on the second leg of the match ... but i must say that there has been dramatic changes on barça side ... as ronaldinho went away the team got fresh blood and now plays space football .... and one thing i dont like about manU is the team misses 20 goal positions and scores 1 or 2 ...especially tevez ..f he plays tonight watch him out :)) i think this year barça will take the revenge and will win

Re: Champoins League Final - 27th of May - Barcelona v Man U

off topic, but deserves an answer: Gambling is officially forbidden in Iran since Shah Regime was brought down by revolution 30 years ago. But you find several illegal betting facilities in big towns like Tehran, Shiraz or Ahwaz, focus lies on horse gambling and card games, but betting on international football matches is also possible. Especially Iranians from south, like from big harbours of Persian Gulf like Bandar Abbas, Kish or Qeshm are crazy bettors, Abadanis and Ahwazis are even comparable with Asians...You even find private Casinos run by very rich Iranians, card games are very popular over there, a game called "Hokm" is played in almost every family. But all these activities remain illegal like drinking alcohol, but everybody does it :lol, so owners of such gambling halls have to grease several organs, to stay alive... oh my god, where r u from caveman? I'm from mashhad. interesting note, Iranians even seem to be worlds leader in online betting, not surprising me at all, but wow!! http://www.daretogamble.com/2008/07/iran-is-world-leader-in-online-gambling.html[/quot
