Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March Yes I agree that the value seems to be on Inter here. I still reckon ManUtd as favourites but I've seen Mourinho overturn 0-0 home legs before (Deportivo-FC Porto in '03/'04 immediately comes to mind...) and his record against Ferguson and ManUtd is solid enough for me to be quite wary of what might happen. I would be interested to what other people's views are. Elsewhere I think Barça are far too short for a team who's shown the first signs of weakness in the last few weeks. Porto have a magnificent chance to advance to the quarters for the first time in 5 years but the odds are too short and I'm staying out of that one.

Same here mate, thing is I'd still have been happy with 4/5 but you can't even get that any more, generally 8/11, best price PaddyPower 3/4 but not got an account with them and some firms as low as 4/6.

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March Barca to beat Lyon is a banker! Latest news: Benzema picked up injury against Lille plus 2 more defenders as well.Looks like they will be out for this match.Barca will start with strongets line up.Lyon's moral is very low at the moment as team keep loosing matches. Barca to win Roma looks like a good bet to me.Totti shoud be fit for this match.Arsenal missing few key players.Arshavin is not that good as evryone thinks he is.I think Roma can win this one.

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March im going to go for all home wins , barca should see off lyon is there to have a say in this comptition also man united rested ronaldo at fulham and rooney was subbed soo i can see fergie trying to get one over on moriniho and in the first leg man united bossed it .Roma , at home will beat arsenal , arsenal are poor at the moment they coodnt beat fulham , west ham or sunderland at home . the only one im a bit worried about is the porto game , it could go either way , athletico are a great price and yes they drew with real at the bernabeu soo this should be a great game .

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March hi all, im a long time reader, but this is the first time i post. im very keen on italian soccer, so will give you a little update about the italians in the champions. To start with, it wasnt a positive weekend for all of them. Inter agaist man utd will have missing materazzi and burdisso, samuel and chivu are very much in doubt. that means that probably mou will play cambiasso in defenece along side cordoba. now that will be a big loss from midfield. Roma will be without perrotta, derossi and cicinho (season over 4 him). totti and pizzarro are doubtfull too. Juventus lost their best midfielder, sissoko this weekend (season over 4 him) and also have missing camoranesi and zanetti. at least they recovered legrotaglie. its going to be tough for the italians.

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March call me foolish, call me crazy but my gut feeling, which is sometimes very good in european cups says me Inter will at least draw Wednesday ;) All people over the Island and in the world will be on ManU, right, but did they play like winners 2 weeks ago? Did they get an securing away goal? As some valuable members mentioned here, the result scoreless draw could also have been a Inter win easily. I've full respect in Sir Ferguson's tactical abilities but don't never underestimate italian teams and especially Mourinho. As I mentioned before, I'm sometimes really amazed how italian teams are able to control matches and even can get their perfect correct score. The pressure in this one is on ManU, Inter can handle a draw and play on time to get perhaps a lucky punch with a counterstrike or set-plays. They only need one single away goal. They can wait and they will wait. Mourinho is a controversial manager but you can be sure he will prepare his team 100% for any situation and outcome. Let us concentrate on Inter team news: 2mgnypf.jpg (The table contains following columns, respectively: date when the player was placed on the list, player name, player position, number of games played, number of goals, number of assists, status for the day ("?+" - likely to play; "?" - status uncertain; "?-" - unlikely to play; "-" - will not play). List includes both injured and suspended players.) Nicolas Burdisso and Marco Materazzi will miss this match surely, ok. But IMO only Burdisso is important for the team. Old boy Materazzi doesn't play on high level he used to play, Mourinho can handle his absence easily. Other missings: "Fellow centre-back Walter Samuel has returned to full training but Cristian Chivu remains a doubt for Wednesday." These informations are from weekend, so I think important defensive player Samuel will be prepared to start on wednesday. Chivu remains only doubt, which means the only blow IMO for Inter team. Will be interesting how Mourinho solves this problem. For ManU is Vidic back for sure, which means stronger defense abilities, but there is a big doubt behind skipper Ferdinand. He injured his ankle in FA Cup. The big question is ManU's ofense, Rooney is still not fully recovered, can't be "in form" after injury period, C. ronaldo is only a shadow of last season. There is only a hype around this guy, he isn't special at all anymore. As I mentioned, I don't think we will see a ManU win here, poor odds also don't refelct any value. Draw or even ayway win possible outcome for me here. I will play : Inter +0,75 @ 1,93 Pinnacle Under 2,25 goals @ 1,78 10 Bet Inter to advance @ 2,78 Pinnacle small stakes but will cover it with CS 0:0 GL @all ;)

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March Hi all, long time lurker and thought id finally sign up Fancy Man Utd strongly on Wednesday. As has been suggested, the odds could have been more generous but 3/4 is available with VC and Paddy Power and i'd back them at this price. I dont rate Italian football particularly highly when compared to the top Spanish and English teams and I think the first leg results in the respective ties reflected this. Ok Inter are a cut above Roma and Juventus who both went down 1-0 but I thought Man Utd looked very very comfortable in the San Siro. They could have been 2or 3 up at half time and although Inter improved in the 2nd half they made nothing more than half chances and never looked like winning the game. They struck me as very reliant on Zlatan to create something and his record in big games against decent CL opposition is patchy to say the least. Both teams suffered injury blows in defence at the weekend although the recent performances of Evans doesnt leave me too worried if Ferdinand doesnt make it. The danger is that the Italians will play for 0-0 and take it to ET or pens, but I just cant see Man Utd going 90 mins at home without scoring in their current form. The Mourinho factor also may be considered but at the end of the day he wont be out there on the pitch with them. Strongly fancy Man Utd, 8/10.

. Bear in mind that playing the home leg first Mourinho's absolute priority will have been not to concede - and 0-0 is the least bad result if you can't win as Inter weren't able to at the end of the day. I agree ManUtd played better but then again they did not score and the game looked much different in the 2nd half. I still think ManUtd are rightly favourites but these prices seem too short. I would be wary of the "English" teams factor, IMO they are not - namely Chelsea and Arsenal - as strong this season as they have been for the past couple of years.

A lot of good points on United Inter game here & i think the sucker punch of the away goal is a real danger however if united play to their strengths and have high tempo from kick off they will win. Rooney is back bang on form, 2 goals in his last 2 games and showed no signs of his recent injury on sat. Bergatov will probably start, comes back in fresh, as does Ronaldo, with d portuguese a lot to prove against his fellow conuntry man Mourinho who have had ongoing war of words for a while. I think we'll see a Ronaldo bang on his game for a change. Given the well documented united defence, and the strong bench with players like Tevez, maybe Giggs to be introduced i have to favour the home team. Second bet is Barca.. Despite some defeats in recent games, Messi & Henry are on fire and Messi is playing the best football on the planet right now, he is nearly unmarkable. Back to winning ways at the weekend against Bilbao & could have scored a hatful. Barca will come out on fire i expect in this game & cannot see Lyon holding that dream of attacking players of Messi, Henry, Eto, Xavi..another home win for me. Overall its united & Barca double 6-4 Messi to score in 90mins 11-10 GL ALL:hope

Chivu has been confirmed out, Samuel however is in. I agree with most of what you said but would you mind explaining the attached table :unsure

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March Im a fan of Porto. id like to advise you to be very cautious if you guys are betting on them. i dont trust too much in Porto to get a victory on wednesday..why? simply because they will avoid to attack. Last two home matches to Liga Sagres were against Benfica and Sporting..in both games on the prematch press conference the coach said the that each game wasn´t decisive to the League..WTF??? Facing both main contenders in the title, in our own stadium and the game is not decisive? you must be joking Mr Jesualdo Ferreira. Porto drew in Madrid so a scoreless draw or 1-1 will fit...that´s why i predict a boring game from Porto only trying to avoid Forlan and Aguero to reach danger zones. When Porto desperate needs a win, they play a lot...Hulk, Lisandro and Rodriguez are probably the best attack Porto had in the last decade...they are flying right now..but Porto only improves when they really need to win, like for example last match agains Leixoes. I maybe take a small punt in: Both teams to score Madrid to score first

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March Man Utd vs Inter At the San Siro, Sir Alex played a fairly defensive team, with just the one man up front - I think this was due, in part, to the fact that Utd had their main two centre backs missing for the game. The idea was to keep it tight and if possible nick an away goal as a bonus. One out of two aint bad. Lets be clear, Man Utd played Inter off the park. Inter were marginally better in the second half but they never really looked as if they had a cutting edge. At Old Trafford, the 'special one' will set his team for penalties and Sir Alex has stated this in the press today. I like Mourinhio as a character but I always feel he is too defensive as a coach and against this current crop of Utd players his solid record against Ferguson may get decidedly wobbly! Think Man Utd will comfortably win this game and win it by 2 or 3. Utd's defense is in good form and their midfield look so energy driven it is unreal. Rooney is in the best form I have seen him for two years. The goals he scored against Newcastle and Fulham were strikes from a man at the height of his powers. If Man Utd get the first - they could get another 2 or 3 Given Mourinhio's statements to the press saying he would like to take over at Old Trafford after the old man retires will only put more fire:@ in the Man Utd side Man Utd win.... 3 - 0 plus..Ferguson's horse, What a Friend runs at Chletenham today - double up?

Arshavin is cup tied anyway. I like Arsenal to win though. Totti was completely anonymous in the reverse fixture. Roma however looked a new side when Pizarro came on so I reckon he's the one to watch for Roma. De Rossi won't be playing in this leg as he is suspended.

ReasoningI'm not convinced about the strength of italian football at the moment. I wasnt impressed with AC Milan last season in either leg vs Arsenal, I wasnt impressed with Inter vs man Utd a fortnight ago, I wasnt impressed with Juve vs Chelsea and I wasnt impressed with Roma at the Emirates. The Italians have selection problems for the return leg with De Rossi, Cicinho, Perotta and Panucci all missing. On the contrary, Arsenal can welcome players back - Walcott and Eduardo are both back in the squad. Arsenal have a good record vs italian sides recently. They are on a long unbeaten run and I think that can continue here.

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March Barca vs Lyon Think Barca will be too strong at home. Lyon have injury worries and they need to have a go at Barcelona, which the Spaniards will exploit Barca win Roma vs Arsenal Roma will have to take the game to Arsenal and this will naturally suit Arsenal's fast counter attack qualities. I can see both sides scoring, therefore Draw

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March Caveman,I like your prewiew about MU-Inter.One other thing. All world waiting here under. But I think here will be over.If MU will score one goal.Inter go to atack. If MU dont score early goal,Inter have good chance to catch him in contraattack. So Manchester United - Inter Milan over 2,5. All world thinking that easy money today in Barselona.I thinking, that is not true.I dont like overs/unders but today my bets totals.Lyon play good french football, they play everytime good in defence, player run with players and press oponents.Easy Blaugranas victory I cant wait.So Barcelona - Lyon under 2,5

Re: CL - Wednesday 11th of March

I think here under and Porto go to next round.
I thin Porto and Madrit Match over because Porto have advantage score in first match and I think A.Madrit so offencive football due to they must get score and they must win. anyway match final score impossible 3-3 and other big score draw than A.Madrit play for win and they may score but porto get score due to madrit open football. ı cannot predicty to who will win the match but İ can see that this match OVER OVER OVER
