What are HC races?How do they differ from A grade races?How is the dog handicapped?Are the traps staggered so the better dog has to run farther?

Re: Greyhound HC races query Yes, the traps are staggered so it will be something like this Trap 1 - R9 [received 9 lengths start] Trap 2 - R7 Trap 3 - R7 Trap 4 - R3 Trap 5 - Scr Trap 6 - Scr Where Trap 1 would maybe be an A7 dog, and Traps 5 & 6 A3 dogs

Re: Greyhound HC races query Stats show that in normal level start races, 66% of dogs that lead at the first turn go on to win their race As S.S. said the lower grade dogs wil be in traps 1 and 2. Betting will reflect their chance. If a dog in 1 or 2 is less than 4/1 they're worth a small punt as they will lead to the 1st bend, and could still be there coming out of the 2nd bend, and if there's only slight crowding behind, at 30 m.p.h. they're away and gone. If they're over 4/1 leave them alone as they'll probably run out of steam a bit too quickly, unless there's a major pile up behind. :loon On the other hand, trap 6 runners generally have a lot to do. I don't back often in these races, but when I do I tend to stick to traps 3, 4 and 5, and on Betfair, backing up to 4 in the same race will show a small profit, whereas at the track odds, you've got no chance of dutching.
