Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Villarreal- Celtic Rossi and Nihat are finally fit. Rossi scored already a goal this week. Nihat collected assist in last Wednesday. Villarreal played excellent (first position in Primera Division) without them so with this striker duo they should be absolutely favourite. Celtic struggling against weak Aberdeen before they finally won 3:2. In last season Celtic lost all their away matches(against Shakhtar, Milan, Benfica and Barcelona). Two seasons ago story was similar(defeats against Manchester, FC Copenhagen and Benfica). They are just unable to do something positive away from home. In this season they are also not inspiring at home- they only drawed 0:0 against Aalborg. This was pretty important match for them and their failed. I don't believe in Celtic. I expected even lower odds on Villarreal to win. Sorry for my English.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Manchester United @ 1.40 against AaB in CL Group stage ? Berbatov is still searching for his first goal for the Red Devils and I think that this match is the best opportunity for him to show his goalscoring abilities. Juventus @ 1.44 vs. BATE Borisov is a game that Juve is never going to underestimate and won't have problems with collecting the three points against the newcomers in the CL. Amauri and Del Piero ? Yeah, why not!

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September 2 possible ones I see... I really like the Man Utd at 2/5, although they are away Aalborg are nothing but an average team, the class between premiership and danish football is also very big. Man Utd drew the 1st game and with them having to go away to Celtic and Villarreal in the remaining games they will want all 3 points here. They are still not in FULL form, but Rooney finally scored this Saturday and with him and Berbatov keen to score and impress ferguson I think this could be another job done game. I feel it will probably end 2-0 to Man Utd. I think also Aalborg has a defender out who got sent off Vs Celtic if anyone wants to confirm that? The other one I fancy, although I'm only going to pick Man Utd or Arsenal... Arsenal are in my black book list and they have been for the last 3 seasons now because they just are too inconsistant. Now having lost on Saturday Wenger will want a response, now what a better game to impress and respond Vs Porto, champions league and at home. But saying that Porto aren't a bad side at all, but Arsenal really despite being inconsistant should do the job and I can see it ending 3-1. Adebayor needs to score more, RVP needs to provide more, but they can win games when they REALLY need to. Not impressed with the odds though, was expecting it to be higher than what it is.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Fiorentina- Steaua Fiorentina play very well on they home stadium. In Serie A they draw against Juventus and beat Bologna(team who won against Milan) and Genoa(the team who beat Milan and Roma). In Champions League Fiorentina draw 2:2 in Lyon. They played good football, leaded by two goals but Olympique on home stadium is pretty strong. Fiorentina has many good players. Striker Gilardino is on amazing hot streak, scoring already three goals in Serie A and another two in Champions League. They have also good striker and free kicks taker Adrian Mutu, talented forward Pazzini. In midfield offensive players like Montolivio or Santana are also very useful. They had excellent goalkeeper- A. Frey who is considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. They have also very talented coach- C. Prandelli. Steaua is very average team at the moment. Some people saying that they bought matches in their domestic league. They are weaker than Cluj- current champion of Romanian League. In their domestic competition, after nine rounds Steaua is on 4th position, but this is only thanks to their good performance at home(4-0-0). Away record is much weaker(2-2-1). In summer transfer window they sold their best player Dica. He was very good set pieces specialist, collected many goals and assists in this way. I don't much about their new players. For example Bogdan Stancu is very talented striker for sure(Football Manager rate him very high and this really good recommendation ;-) ) but he is also without experience on this level so should have problems against big teams. Steaua lost to Bayern at home(0:1). They played not so bad, but we should also remember that in this season Bayern is really poor team, especially away from home. Right defender Golanski and left defender Emeghara are injured and doubtful. Captain Radoi(defensive midfielder) is out for sure. In last season Steaua lost their all three away matches in Group Stage of Champions League(against Slavia Prague, Sevilla and Arsenal). Fiorentina is in good form, they just love playing on their home stadium, they know that this match could be the key to get higher than Lyon or Bayern. Coach Prandelli give rest some players on Saturday so they should be fresh. Home advantage + extremely good form of some players like Gilardino + good coaching & team spirit + average opponent + Steaua's poor away form + some injuries in Steaua + pathetic record against Italian teams= home win :) The highest odds are around 1.55 (Gamebookers, Betfair). I think it's better to place bet earlier because odds can drop down. Sorry for my English.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September

LYON AT 4.6 ????? With Bayern out of form and Benzema's falling goals' date=' maybe I like these odds :-)[/quote'] totally agree - couldnt believe the price here, bayern thumped at home last week 5-2 ( 5-0 down at one stage ) by Bremen, Ive ended up opting for the draw because the euro nights will bring out the best in Bayern but lyon are way over-priced IMO. Also agree Man Utd shouldnt have many problems in Denmark, I was at Celtic Park 2 weeks ago and didnt see anything in Aalborg that should trouble Utd - starting to come up through the gears after a shaky start to the season and ronaldo back in the picture - away win. Couldnt dissuade anyone backing against Celtic tomorrow night, I fly to Valencia tomorrow morning for the game and admittedly with not much hope, surely strachan will shut up shop in the middle of the park and set the team up accordingly, wether that be 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1 Im not sure but he only ever goes with 2 strikers up top, our away stats in this competition ( 0 1 17 ) :eek tells a glaring story - we need to sacrifice the luxury players ( nakamuro etc.. ) if nothing else, this time tomorrow I'll be sitting in a bar in Valencia in the sunshine with a cold beer :clap worry about the footie when I head up to Villareal at teatime.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September I hate to say it aswell but Villareal should be too strong for us tomorrow. If the game was at Celtic Park, it would be a different story but we are just not the same side away from home in Europe. I agree nastro, he has to set up with a 4-5-1 with big Jan up front on his own. It means dropping Samaras, who is on fire, but it has to be done. One thing is for sure, McManus and Caldwell will have to be at the top of their game. I would happily take a point right now but its going to be a tough un. :(

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Fenerbahce look a solid bet at 4/5 at home to Dynamo Kiev. Kiev are another side with a woeful away record in this competition taking just 5 points from a possible 63 on their travels, 3 of which were default points handed to them after crowd trouble away to Roma which they were awarded as a 0-3 win. Turkey is always a tough place to go and Fener made the place a fortress last year winning all their home group games against PSV, CSKA Moscow and most notably a 1-0 victory over Inter. They reached the quarters after triumphing against Sevilla after another home victory before seeing their 2-1 victory over Chelsea overturned in London. They will look to go well again this year with the additions of La Liga's top scorer last season David Guiza and Luis Aragones who guided Spain to Euro 2008 victory. After defeat to Porto in matchday 1, this looks their easiest game on paper in a tough group which also pits them against Arsenal. They must win to keep themselves in the running for qualification and based on their home form and Dynamo's away form they look good to triumph at 4/5.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Nice write up dealer-dil, i totally agree on Fiorentina they are going well just now and have a stronger side than Steaua and at 1/2 look well backable for what should be a home win. Regarding your original post, I read Nihat is out injured for Tuesday's game with a thigh problem http://orange.football365.com/Story/0,17169,8923_4206717,00.html I wouldn't be rushing to put anyone off Villarreal they look a real strong side and as is well documented Celtic have a dire record away from Celtic Park. This should be a home win, maybe 2-0, we have lost our last 4 away CL ties to nil, including three 1-0 losses. However, we do look better set-up to play a counter-attacking system with the pace of Samaras up front should he get the nod, the pace & trickery of Maloney and Aiden McGeady on the wings and Marc Crosas who can certainly pick a pass. The defence though still looks very shaky to say the least and will need a lot of protection from the midfield and while Artur Boruc normally saves his best for this competition he has been out of sorts recently perhaps influenced by events in his private life. What's everyones thoughts on Zenit, just under 2/1 with most firms is tempting considering they were formidable at home in their run to the UEFA Cup Final. I know they are having a terrible season domestically but surely they will be focused on the CL and I feel they have a big result in them somewhere in this campaign. They really have to be looking to win this one after losing their opener at Juventus. Arsenal will want a response after losing to Hull and at home should be looking to win all their games or take at least 7 points from this section. On their day they can beat almost any team but are quite inconsistant and Porto started with an impressive victory over Fener and topped Liverpools section last year so I'd maybe trust Liverpool at home to PSV more than Arsenal at this stage though they should win. I know Bayern have been in a bit of disarray aswell and Lyon could be worth a punt at 4.5. Raphael Honegstein a German journalist writing in a Scottish paper yesterday predicted Lyon were good enough to go to Munich and win so does look a value proposition but as Nastro said that could easily turn around for a home Champions League game. Man Utd should win this but I wouldn't be rushing to back them at 1/3 away from home. Aalborg looked very ordinary at Celtic Park and it says as much about Celtic that they couldn't win that game and even though we were poor should still have won after missing a first-half penalty. United still haven't fully clicked yet although with Ronaldo back having scored at the weekend things look promising but I imagine it could be a tight park and Aalborg will stick 10 men behind the ball. On their last visit to Denmark Utd lost 1-0 to Copenhagen. The Austrialian defender who was wrongfully dismissed at Celtic Park had his red card rescinded but I'm not sure if the guy who actually committed the foul will be suspended, I imagine he would be. At the moment strong homes look Fenerbahce & Fiorentina and probably Villarreal although I won't be backing against my team at such low odds.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September zenit-real ... no betting game imo! zenit poor in leauge but superb vs man u in supercup and last year in europe, plus russia at the EC! ... real on the other hand apart that one home game, didnt impress and win 1-2's etc! i expect real to win but nothing is sure here! edit : now i come tothink off it, real has a big odd! maybe a good game to double up a bit! bate borisov is really a good team i must say but they play maybe stronger away than at home! however, juve absolutely are static and if those 'fast' players can dictate the game, i expect maybe a little surprise! odds are good and feel something is in the air here, i cna be wrong ;) but it will be my bet :D bayern-lyon looks tempting i must say but let's not underestimate bayern! they play at home and they need to prove something so i dont think lyon will just take easy 3 points! let's also see that there are cl teams and leauge teams and lyon is a leauge team right now, while bayern has bigger european 'ambitions' ... they should always reach a quarter, lyon not! anyway i dont like betting on fiorentina! on paper they should win but it's not really a EUROOPEAN team ;) with status! ;) villareal - celtic is a good one imo! villareal are really strong and away celtic is pretyy much crap! might to put em in combo with fenerbace becuz these teams tend to win their home games at all cost ... my bets for tomorrow! villreal and fenerbace to win (big stack) real - arsenal and fiorenta(i go against the odds but trust you guys :p) (small stack) and small stack on bate! let's see whot it brings for wednesday ;) cheers! cheers!

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September My picks for Tuesday: Zenit-R. Madrid I think Zenit was a bit unlucky against Juve in the 1st group match. Real is, of course, a slight favorite here but they have not won in their last 7 away Champions League games. Zenit has all the talent upront and can surely score against any opponent. Real also has all the talent upfront but continue to look far from impressive at the back. Zenit has 5 overs in their last 6 overall and 7 overs in their last 10 home games while Real has 4 overs in their last 6 overall and 7 overs in their last 10 away games. My pick: >2.5 (1.83); Arsenal-Porto Arsenal is the clear favorite here and as long as they have the right attitude and do not play like they did against Hull over the weekend I'm convinced they'll win this game. Arsenal will be looking at winning the game after the draw in the 1st group match while Porto would be happy with a draw tomorrow. Porto lost 3 of their 5 most influencial players from last season: Quaresma, Bosingwa and Paulo Assunção (the man that kept the team balanced in midfield and secure at the back who left for At. Madrid). Only decent defender they have on the wings right now is Fucile but he's injured and didn't travel. It's all about Lucho (not sure to play) and Lizandro right now... Porto played in England 10 times before, losing 9 and drawing 1 (1-1 against M. United under Mourinho when they won the Champions League). My pick: Arsenal -1AH (1.96); Fenerbahce-D. Kiev The Turkish side has 10 wins in their last 10 home games (and that includes a 2-1 win over Chelsea in the CL last season) and is unbeaten at home for their last 14 UEFA competition games. Kiev has a 0-1-7 record in their last 8 CL group stage games, scored only 2 goals and conceded 18 in those 8 games. With the great suppport from the fans and Spanish striker Guiza upfront I do expect a home win here. My pick: Fenerbahce -0.5AH (1.84); Good luck! JC

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Lyon +0.5 @ 2.0 :eek I can't believe Bayern are so short in this match, they have generally looked really shyte in the Bundesliga so far this season, part of this price must surely be based upon reputation. I really fancy Lyon to get at least a point, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them win it. Lyon with no new injury concerns and welcome back key set piece taker Juninho who had been injured for a week or two. So often in the past, he's proved vital for Lyon in the CL. He's not as good as he once was, but don't underestimate his importance from dead ball situations.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Lyon (+0): Like others have already said, lyon are value here, that's all there is to it. Bookies have made bayern too heavy of a favorite in my opinion, which makes the odds on lyon too tempting. Taking the asian handicap because draw is also likely in champs league matches, so using that to "protect" myself. small stake. double: Manchester United and Villareal both to win. United finally got scoring over the weekend against a weak Bolton side. I expect them to come out blazing since they tied villareal last CL run-out and they need the points against the weakest side in the group. Plus, Aalborg have had mixed form as of late. Celtic have horrible away form in the CL and couldnt even beat aalborg at home. So, villareal should be able to knick it at home. Fener/Kyiv: over 2.5. These two teams have met before twice and both times it was 4 goals total. Just doing a little punt by simple stats here. High scoring affairs in the past. also was thinking of taking fiorentina to win too, but the odds have been horrible. so, i may do a double with fior and arsenal. haven't decided yet. gl all ! :ok

Need to do a small correction here: Kiev has a 0-1-7 away record in their last 8 CL group stage games, scored only 2 goals and conceded 18 in those 8 games. :cheers JC

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Hello guys, this is my first pick of the new season... I will go against the wind and will bet on Bayern straight win tonight (odds are rising, so i will wait the last minute to take best odds). Ok in their respective league Bayern and Lyon don't have the same level at the moment but I can't trust Lyon this year. Once again, french championship is very poor in terme of quality. Marseille, Paris, Bordeaux and the others won't give Lyon a fight. So I think that Lyon's results until now are not significative. Jsut remember the only european match of Lyon : OL - Fiorentina (2-2). The french were really lucky to come back in this match. They could easily lose it. This match can be the revival one for Bayern in front of their fans. Very small stakes on this second round, as always. Good luck :ok

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Anyone else think the Manure price is too small? Away from home in Europe against a very physical side. Manure lot their last game on Danish soil and also drew their first game of the group. Ronaldo will get kicked about and the team generally not playing well. Im going to have a little lay of Manure and maybe back them back around 1.5 pre kick off if I can.

Do you have to call them Manure? Its a bit pathetic to be honest...A bit like 'Chelski', pathetic. Cheers. :ok

I would advice that you change "Manure" into something less offending.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September

zenit v real to me real look quite vulnerable especially away from home. anyone know what real's away history in CL?? i believe the struggle badly in germany and greece not sure about russia. bayern v lyon not sure about bayern, i expected to see odds reflecting a tighter match up. ive been told lyon are a bit of a bogey team for bayern - can anyone confirm this?? villarreal v celtic celtic's form isnt great despite the results in the SPL, apart from the 0-0 with AaB, they leak many goals right now. given celtic's terrible away history in CL and the quality of villarreal for me this is close to a banker. celtic have a bad record for giving up 3 goals away from home in CL group matches and they have a very bad history against spanish teams.
A stat I read yesterday was that Real Madrid haven't won in their last 7 CL away ties. Last year they drew at Lazio & Olymipiakos while losing away to Werder and Roma in the knockout stages. They also have some injuries in midfield to Sneijder, Gago and Guti. With this in mind I think 11/10 Zenit Draw No Bet on Bet 365 is a great price, I think this is a game they must not lose and they have the quality to win it. They have been poor domestically but won 3-0 at the weekend, the only negative being Arshavin was left out because his head is somewhere else at the moment with all his potential suitors. However, there would be no better stage for him to show future employers once again how good he can be. Re lyon, Celtic were in a group with Lyon, B Munich and Anderlecht a few years back and I'm sure Lyon won in Munich during that campaign. Think it was 03/04 season.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Zenit - Real Madrid: Real Madrid Win @ 2.65 (Centrebet) 10/10 I think the odds on Real are very good tonight against Zenit. Zenit have played 22 games in the Russian League and stand at mid-table with 34 points and a 4-3-4 record at home. I find this unimpressive. Furthermore, they couldn't score on a slow Jueventus team in the first CL match. Real will probably challenge for the Spanish title and many would pick them to go all the way in the CL. Certainly, Real have the quality to win against Zenit and at these odds are good value, I think. In the other games we have Man U., Villareal, Juventus, Fiorentina and Arsenal as VERY STRONG favourites. I think the home field advantage and/or class of these teams will give them the win over their opposition. I will be taking them in a 5 game combo with 10/10 stakes. The Fenerbache - Dinamo Kiev game is saying home win, but I am concerned about Fener's recent play in the Turkish League which leaves a bit to be desired. I may leave this alone or bet 5/10 stakes on the draw and 5/10 stakes on the Kiev Win. This is despite Kiev's poor CL performance especially in away games. The Bayern Munich - Lyon game is very difficult to call, I think. On the one hand, Bayern has indicated that they are in a bit of a slump after TWO successive defeats in the Bundesliga. But they do have enough talent and are playing at home. they can beat anybody slump or not. But Lyon is a good team. They have creative offensive players and a sound defense so they too could get something out of this match given Bayern's current state. So, I think it is a NO BET game. Good luck to all in your bets tonight :hope

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Hey Boys, I have been on quite a roll lately in the epl so i hope my form carry's over into this champion league games :hope. I am going to have a 3 team parlay. MANCHESTER UNTIED With Ronaldo nearing full fitness and a hungry Berbatov in the team i think Man U will wipe the floor here. I do not think i need to many explainations for this one Man U will just simply be way to classy. VILLARRAEL *Villa hasn't lost a game all season *Celtic lost ALL there away games last champions league season *Celtics form lately has been a bit scratchy Again i could just take this team on class alone ARSENAL Porto are not the same team as last year without 3 of there best players and they also have key injuries for this game. Arsenal will be steaming from there loss to Hull this weekend and i do not see this team losing this one. Take these three teams in a parlay @ $3.00 gl in whatever you take :ok

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Zenit SPb - Real Madrid I dont trust in Zenit win today. With spanish good attack Zenits problems with defence and keeper is big problem for home win. Zenit need points and if they no win at home games - they take big problems in group. For win they will be attack and Real will have many chances for goalie contr-attacks... I think we can see today fast interesting match and we remember about Real let through a goals in 4 from 5 games in Spain champ. With good Zenit attack i think Real let through a goals again. Probably correct score for me 1:2, 2:2 Today 2 stake for me on this game: Real (0)*1.85 Over 2.5*1.8 And one not big stake on Bate - Juve. Bate to score*2 For belorussian team group stage is very big success and they have main target - to score maximum goals. Yes, Juve nice in defence, but BATe not bad in attack too, espeсially шт home games

Re: Champions League: Group Stage: Matchday 2- Tuesday 30th September Zenit St P v Real Madrid - DRAW X Real have a bit of a run going on with no wins in their last 7 CL away games. Zenit not faring so well in their domestic league, however they showed how good a team they are when playing the manure off the park in the Super Cup! As both teams have class about them I feel a point for either team would not be too big a deal to either of their chances of progressing. @3.20 Totesport
