Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September Celtic -1.5 Celtic come into this game with a good win against Motherwell where they played quite well to lead 4-0 before allowing two goals when the game was effectively over. They play Aalborg who were fortunate to make to this round but their luck will run out as Celtic have a battle in their hands and they will ensire there is no slip up here. At home to kick off their first CL game for the season, it should be a comfortable victory for Celtic Bayern Munich Steaua are missing some important players which will make their task even harder against a Bayern side loaded with talent especially up front with Klose and Toni. After missing out last year playing in the CL, they will look to make amends in this first game for them this season with an out of sorts Romanian team. Arsenal Arsenal were very impressive in smashing Balckburn 4-0 on the weekend and their defence has allowed only one goal in their four EPL games, while up front Adebayor continues to score goals while the midfield that includes Fabregas usually control the temp of the game quite well. Arsenal has too many big guns in their squad and should win this one. Real Madrid -2.5 Big mismatch between the two teams as madrid should begin their CL campaign with a comprehensive win over a pretty ordinary Borisov side. Too much class on one side and not enough on the other as Van Nistelrooy should have a field day

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September

They lost 3-1 to Marseille, 2-1 to Villareal and 1-0 to Everton in the Uefa cup. Agreed the 4-1 against Leverkusen was a good result, but that was a one off. They hardly won any of there other away games.
I actually saw all these games, except the Everton one, they were all, what, almost a year ago. The one in Marseille ended 3-1, but could have been 2-3 easily. The team picked up both home and away right on time to take back to Russia 2 Euro Cups. Do not get mislead by the current form in the Russian League - it was made clear long ago they are not bothered - postponed games because of the final rounds in UEFA, later - players on international duty during Euro, busy schedule after the Euro ( at some moment they had up to 6 postponed games ). Simply priorities changed for the club, combined with very tough and busy schedule everywhere for every player. It will be a major mistake to judge Zenith's chances in CL by the results in the Russian league. First - it gets very, VERY GOOD, with recently unknown teams in top spots. The games of FC Moscow ( how many here have watched them) vs Wisla, the current Polish Champion were a great example how good the Russians are getting. Physically they are in better shape than most of Europe, with 20 rounds behind them, often covering 10-15k miles in 2 weeks through 5-6 time zones. The foreign buys add spice and RECENTLY - quality as well. They did well in the Euro , didn't they, the Russkies I mean? I bet half of the names there were unknown before, not to mention the fact they all play in the domestic league. The game tonight is still no bet to me, I think Juve will win, but the odds vs a very strong team are a joke. If this is the case it makes NO SENSE why Lyon win is priced better than the Juventus one. Just because of the BIG name Juventus? Or the world beaters Fiorentina? And another thing...How important are the stats in CL, where many teams might have up to 6-7 new names AND Manager almost every year? How exactly to compare Juventus and Zenith statistically with Zenith's great Euro period March-August and Juve 1-0 win over Udinese and a draw at Fiore, plus a couple of friendlies, one of which was a thrashing by AC Milan who do not do very well, recently ,do they? Sloppy, it is your money and gut feeling, wish you the best tonight, I have no intention to put you off your bet, but at 1,72 only one guy here makes money, ffalen that is, only he avoids such games...

Don't forget that Kiev wan all the games against Arsenal in Kiev. Don't forget about Milevskiy and Bangoura, I'm from Kiev by the way. To whom who wants take Over - it's been raining in KIev for all the day. At such weather the teams can play easily Under, moreover it's the start of CL. I think it must be a draw, 1-1. As for Zenith - I'd mention here the friendship between Putin (he is from St. Petersburg, by the way) and Berluskoni - they're in good relations. And in the war against Georgia Berluskoni tried to defend Russia. So, don't think me to be crazy but I think Zenith will not lose. I guess Juve will make some present for the Russians.
Nice info about the weather in Ukraine, thanks. As of Berlusconi, I don't think he is very popular with Juventus:)

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September Going for a treble Celtic- need to win tonight, if they don't there is no chance of us reaching the last 16 IMO. Have a superb record at home in the group stages of this competition and Celtic should have too much quality for Aalborg considering they disposed of better teams in last seasons group stage. Bayern Munich- Steaua looked poor last season and Bayern will be hungry after a year without the CL. They have the firepower to go there and win and will look for 3 points as Lyon and Fiorentina will provide trickier opposition on their travels in later games. Real Madrid (-2.5)- BATE Borisov's first appearance in the group stages of the CL and Real should just have far too much for the Belarussians and Real scored 4 at the weekend and should be able to cover the handicap here against the new boys. Pays 4/1 with bet365 Small Stakes double on Zenit/Celtic.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September Now the rain has stopped. Our forward Milevskiy is doubtful for playing. And there will be the full stadium - all the tickets are sold. But the stadium can invite only 16000 spectators but the support will be great.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September I watched BATE with Levski. Really poor poor team. No quality at all. Levski is even worse so they were able to pass. Real will beat them even with their junior under-16-year-old team. Real -2.5

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September XCODE, it's your opinion as BATE offenced your LEvski. And it is your pride which writes such words but not your brains. BATE wan in Brussell against Anderlecht. Does it tell you anything? Is Levski able to win any away game in eurocups? I don't want to tell that BATE will win or will not lose. Simply your words - poor-poor team. I dare to conclude that Levski is the poorest!!!

Just an example, Vladislav Mirchev, a new BATE star, last year was in Bulgarian club Spartak Varna and avoid relegation by chanse. So BATE is on the class of last 5 teams in BG 'A' group. If Real give their best, will beat BATE with a diference around 10 or more goals.

I simply watched the game impartially and it was like school-boys playing on the street. No offense :cheers

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September

Dynamo Kyiv v Arsenal unless its a really bad day for them, then arsenal are going in for an easy win. dynamo are going to concentrate on adebayor leaving space for fabregas and nasri.
Nasri has an ankle injury and won't play.
Now the rain has stopped. Our forward Milevskiy is doubtful for playing. And there will be the full stadium - all the tickets are sold. But the stadium can invite only 16000 spectators but the support will be great.
I saw Kiev's matches with Drogheda Utd and while Bangoura and Milevskiy looked very good, I wasn't impressed with the defence and they were vulnerable to set pieces and crosses. I'm Irish and our best teams are at least 2 levels below english premier league standard so an in form Arsenal should really cause Kiev some problems. Any thoughts Sheva?

Like this bet mate, but I'm feeling lucky tonight so I'v gone with the same as you except I'v taken Celtic (-1)...... I might live to regret it but I think if Celtic can play with the confidence, fight and skill they did for the first 45 mins against Motherwell at the weekend again, they can beat any team in the world never mind the Champs League novices of Aalborg.:clap:clap Mon the hoops!!!!!!!

In the end' date=' my major bet for the night, 'all in' [u']Real Madrid 1.10 (bet365). No doubt about it. :nana
It's always doubt, remember Roma and Luxembourg. Indeed that was not CL but its' eleven guys against eleven guys. I'm not saying Real will not win, but is it worth to play 1,10? My favourite bet today is Zenit to win Juve. Zenit has a great team, fast players and I have a strong feeling they can cause damage to slow Juventus.

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September Definitely like the UNDER 2.5 in Man Utd - Villareal game.. Although Ronaldo will probably get around 45 mins of play I can see this game being 0-0 at HT. I then expect Man Utd. to score a goal around the 70-80th minute and then sit back to preserve it. A less likely scenario is for Man Utd to lead 1-0 at HT and then score a late 2nd goal at the closing stages of the game. Any thoughts on this please share.... Good luck to all ZeroCool

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September

FC Porto Vs Fenerbahce The turks dont travel well and have n't started their domestic season well under Euro 2008 winning manager Luis Aragones, Porto on the other hand despite losing Bosingwa, Quaresma and Postiga have bought some exciting prospects in including Pele;), winger Christian Rodriguez from PSG plus highly rated Romanian Sapunaru came from Rapid Bucurest. If they gel then they are experienced enough now in the champions league to defeat Fenerbahce who also struggled in the qualifier away to Partizan drawing 2-2.The key battle in this game will be between Argentine, Lucho Gonzalez and the Brazilian, Alex. Two decent players. Pick; Porto WIN @ 1.80

Re: Champions League: Group Stage Matchday 1- Wed 17th September

Fenerbahce also...simmilar example.....think about that ;)
Fenerbahce are not strong as last season as Zico has left the helm. Sure, they've signed Euro winner Luis Aragones but there's still a long way to go for Fenerbahce. Zico was like a father figure to the team and because of this the results came due to confidence, Aragones on the other hand is a hard ass, has tough training decisions and likes disciplined football which Fenerbahce isn't. Lost 3-1 to Porto due to shocking defending! Was missing Edu Dracena in defence but that doesn't make no excuse for Yasin to screw up who I though was a decent back up last season..
