bozzers corner
If there are 2 people left in and someone calls me after the river has been dealt ie to end the game - if I beat the guy when i show my hand, does he have to show his hand - nearly came to blows on saturday cos of this with my mates, as obv you haven't a clue if he bluffed you or not as he only sees your cards - tried to look what happens on Poker World tour on Challenge (great show!) but didn't really see what was happening.......hope this makes sense! :cheers
WorkingForTheEnemy
Quick Hold em question As far as Im aware, the person calling doesn't have to show his cards. The fact of him calling is that he is paying to see your cards. I believe it's only the person who originally placed the bet that ends up being called that has to show his hand. bozzers corner
question Thanks - that's what we played on Saturday and I guess it makes sense.
Guest adam74
Quick Hold em question Yeah, strictly speaking the only people that have to show their cards are the person that was called and anyone else who wants to lay claim to the pot. But insisting upon this in home games can be seen as poor form and 'not entering into the spirit of things'. It can mark you out as someone taking things too seriously, which may not be a good thing. Doing something that might possibly take the fun out an evening could lead to other players tightening up...making it more difficult to win their money. :) Also...it seems that more casinos/cardrooms might start requesting that all players that reach showdown show their cards, in attempt to make the game more transparent and reduce the potential for cheating (e.g. chip passing, jamming pots). This is possibly more likely in stud and omaha than it is in holdem.
