Excalibur was doing rooms mid week for $41 per night provided you book 30 days in advance ($51 otherwise). Prices go through the roof on Fridays and Saturdays. All I want in the main is a clean bed/room, quiet location, decent shower as I hope to be out and about most of the time - so a luxurious room is a waste to me. If I had a nice young lady coming with me then I'd get a room with all the trimmings - saw one where you could upgrade to a love tub. :beer. I thought going off strip would be ideal way to save a bit of cash - but coming out of the Rio in the early hours (even after I was out I would still go back and watch) and then having to fork out money for a taxi - it would have been far more convenient and just as cheap in the long run to have paid the bit extra for a centrally located Hotel. I always thought that Wild Bills Gamblin Hall looked Ideally placed (as well as the Imperial Palace) and neither are quite as pricey as the more famous ones in the same area. **(I also wish I'd taken along a pair of fingerless gloves :$... cos my hands were freezin in the air con Amazon Room) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Where am I (and Helen) staying ? :ok I would say IP for location (but get a deluxe room) The hotel itself is a bit shabby and due a refurb but the rooms are big and comfortable the buffet is good (Helen :ok). The biggest thing it has going for it, is its location which you will not appreciate (and it's hard to explain) until you get there. Not stayed at the other two but been through them didn't like excalibur at all. I'm staying at the luxor have you priced this up, nice hotel and the best buffet in town. Nobody likes it because it's old and is going to be torn down soon, but as a hotel it's good value in a good location. You're not going to get a plasma screen and modern decor that's for sure, but rooms are big and have decent views of the strip in the tower. The casino and poker room is rubbish, but the MGM is about 2 minutes walk away. Just my 2 cents. And yes I have stayed there a couple of times myself. First place I ever stayed in Vegas in fact... First place I ever stayed in Vegas in fact... some people i know stayed at the tropicana and said its ok as well ,and is a bit nearer the rio:ok gotta admit around the mgm area has good links to a lot of the rest of the strip but the ip is good as well. you can walk to most of the strip fairly easily from there and i have to admit the atmosphere in the ip is brilliant. if your going budget these 2 are definately the best options i would say. as for circus circus i agree with bri no ,no, no:spank:spank:spank i went in there for about 20 minutes once and it reminded me of one of those cheap arcades you get at the seaside:lol awful location, awful decor and everyone with kids stays there.it would be like staying in the middle of a really crap disneyworld;) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I like to get these things settled so I know where I am and I was starting to go round in circles so the following is now booked ....... The flight organised itself once I decided it had to be direct and from Manchester. BMI only fly that route on Tues, Thurs and Sun so we arrive at lunchtime on Thursday 3rd July and leave mid afternoon on Tuesday 15th July. Plumped for the Imperial Palace using expedia for flight and hotel. Will get to hotel about 10:30 pm probably. Staying in Imperial Place - booked for the first 7 nights and if I survive past then I'll extend it. If I don't then I'll probably get a hire car and drive around a bit. Cost of flight was £560, cost of hotel (for 7 nights) $460 inc tax (but it is the cheap rooms at the back). So assuming similar cost for another 7 nights that leaves me about $1000 spending money out of the expenses. Still waiting on the $3000 to wend its way through the ether to my Neteller account. When I got the inital "your account had been locked until you scan your entire life history and send it to us " email then when I sent off scanned docs I did put in a little nice pleading .... "hey can you expedite it as I need the money to book flights etc." ... don't know if that worked .... you might try replying to the original note saying your doc was ok (as that has a ticket id and (I think) a problem specific email address attached) and say that your account is still locked can someone help..... Good luck :hope. Having got my dosh I think its more workload than intentional. At the moment I love Everest - mind you I'm a mercenary b'strd and would shag virtually anyone that gives me expenses money and entry to WSOP :lol (mind you I'd be seriously worried about the mental/sexual health of anyone prepared to pay me for sexual favors!).
