Washman
Re: Aussie Millions Just got back to my hotel after 8 and a half hours of stud/stud hi-lo/razz. Finished 16/96 in the end, but only final table get paid. Each level was 40mins, with a break every 2 hours - started with 4000 chips, and by first break was down to about 2400. Next couple of hours went much better, especially in hi-lo and razz, by the break was up to 7750. Next 2 hours were a disaster, leaving me on about 2000 by the dinner break - a few quick double ups in stud helped me along, and at one stage on final 3 tables had about 30k. But then stud after the break did me in - no bad beats, just bad cards and poor play at the end :sad. Was a good experience though, and felt as though I got my moneys worth. Live updates are available here: http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/aussie-millions-2008/event-3-mixed-games/ Casino is amazing (mind you its the first one I've seen), great location by the river - has about 50 tables in the poker room, so looks like we could have over 1000 runners in main event with 3 first days. runadrum
Re: Aussie Millions A win for Jimmy 'gobboboy' Fricke, who was runner up in the Aussie Millions main event last year :eek Is it just a poor photo or does he really look about 14 ? :unsure and the betting, now i've said that, that I will end up on his table ? :lol hard to tell from his website but looks as if he is 19 or 20 and by this time last year had won over $200,000 (mostly online) and then $800,000 in the Aussie Millions :notworthy

He does look as though he should be at school. Got moved to his table for my last couple of hours, and he was very aggressive - betting hard on some marginal hands. Was impressed with his play, definitely the best player I had sat on a table with yesterday, so probably a well deserved win.

Washman
Re: Aussie Millions Well, things are warming up nicely for next weeks main event - weather has been 40 degrees for the last 2 days, and the big guns have arrived in town. Todays tourney was the $3k PLO rebuy - only 65 entries, but still managed $500k prize pool!! Among the entries were Mike Sexton, Mark Goodwin, Andy Black, Steve Zolotow and Eli Elezra along with plenty of aussies and internet youngsters (including Tom Dwan -currently featured in IE or PP. or both). At the same time, there was a celebrity/media event featuring Gus Hansen, Clonie Gowen, Kristy Gazes, Andy Bloch, Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson, John Juanda, Erik Siedel and Shannon Elizabeth :tongue2 Also spotted John Tabatabatabatabatabatabatabai playing cash games, and saw Phil Ivey's name on the waiting list for a $100k buy-in cash game :loon

BAM
Re: Aussie Millions Wishy rang me this morning, which is amazing really, for those of you that don't know he's a rite tight Yorkshire bastid and he can't be bothered to call me when he's in the UK. I timed the call it was 13 mins and 40 secs (this is on his mobile as well). Therefore I deduct one of two things:- 1) He has cashed big in a side event and he doesn't like to talk about it :clap 2) He is really really bored out of his mind to ring me from Oz :lol

He spent the majority of the day at the back of the pack and sat on a short stack. He patiently waited to make a move as dozens of runners busted out before him. He outlasted the young guns and several of the established Las Vegas veterans en route to his $1,250,000 first place victory.

avongirl
Re: Aussie Millions G'day all! I have nipped back to the hotel with about 1 hour left to play on Day 1a. Starting stacks were 20000, blinds 50/100 and 90min levels. 215 runners. At 1st break both were up, Duncan on 24100 and Richard 34500. 2nd break, poor session for Duncan, down to 13450 and Richard up to 44000. 3rd break, Duncan 17100, Richard 40000. 4th break (dinner) Duncan 27800, Richard around 32000. By now 144 still in so average stack was 29800. Just before 5th break I decided to come back to the hotel and as I peered across to Richard's table to see his stack, I see about 2 chips in front of him, heading into the middle of the table, and next minute he's walking away. I'm sure he'll be on here to tell you details later. :sad So I've left Duncan with 24000 chips, heading into 300/600 blinds, final level for the night, average stack 35800 with 120 left in. :hope By the way, I spent most of the afternoon at the Australian Open tennis, complimentary main court tickets thanks to Mad Marty. :loon
