Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates A Vos Loss I prefer quality over quantity, but Mark Vos is obliged to suffer with the opposite, his mount looking like Billy Big Stack, but a second glance revealing that he's dropped down to around the 35K mark -- with the majority of his stack made up of low-denomination grey 100 chips. One of the reasons for this sudden drop is a recent Razz clash with David Levi, the elder player check-calling Vos down before forcing the Aussie/South African to muck his inferior hand on the end. On a side note, Vos is looking quite serious today. He's normally very vocal and as energetic as a kangaroo on a hotplate, but he's all business at the moment, perhaps determined to recover that nice meaty stack he once had

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Rafi Amit Busts Out Stud/8 the game -- Kirk Morrison his assassin, calling Rafi Amit's initial 2K bet with his ah.gif showing, while Rafi had the 8s.gif. Morrison bet fourth street, flat called by Amit, but the all-in was reached in two raises on sixth street, with their cards laid out like so: Rafi Amit: (X-X) 8s.gif10c.gifjs.gif4d.gif Kirk Morrison: (X-X) ah.gifqd.gif9d.gifqs.gif The final card was dealt down (such is the practise even during an all-in situation -- prolonging the agony for the shorty or increasing the drama for the audience, who can say?) and Kirk Morrison revealed his hole cards as (10h.gif10d.gif3d.gif). "Oh, you have something good," remarked Amit, showing the (3c.gif3s.gif) before standing and taking his leave of the final three tables.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Jesus Likes Broadway STUD/8 -- Chris "Jesus" Ferguson is a man of many talents. He's a professional ballroom dancer. He can slice carrots, pickles, and bananas by tossing playing cards at lightning-quick speeds. He's also been rumored to walk on water and turn water into wine. He just took down a pot against chip leader Gary Jones to move above the average stack. Both players were showing... Jones: (x-x) 7c.gif7h.gif9h.gif4d.gif Jesus: (x-x) as.gif10c.gifjc.gif2c.gif Jesus bet seventh street and Jones called. Jesus flipped over kc.gifqd.gif for a Broadway straight while Jones mucked his hand.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Michail Tsamis Eliminated in 19th Place Down to little more than scraps, Michail Tsamis moved all in early during an Omaha/8 hand, finding action from both Mark Vos and Yuval Bronshtein. The hand was being checked initially, but Yuval soon announced that he could check no longer and pushed Vos out of the hand. After the dust had settled and the smoke had cleared, Michail Tsamis was sent packing, enabling Yuval to make it into that elusive 100K club. Tsamis = [jd.gif][jc.gif]qh.gif3d.gif2s.gifkh.gif[ac.gif] Bronshtein = [ks.gif][kc.gif]6d.gif8h.gifas.gif10h.gif[8d.gif]

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Hand for Hand, Hanging On Stephen Ladowski must have been pleased to see the cycle back round of the flop games, as his 6,800 stack can't take very many more 500 antes before it dwindles to nothing. Looking decidedly unimpressed with what Hold'em brought into his hand, however, he left Jennifer Harman and John Juanda to take chunks out of Kirk Morrison and Gary Jones' stacks respectively. On the last hand I saw, Gary Jones was check-calling Juanda all the way to the river, when the board looked like: 2d.gifks.gif2s.gif8h.gif3c.gif...at which point he let it go to the player who'd re-raised him preflop. Snoopy has gone to rail Ladowski's table like the little Brummie vulture he is.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Marc Goodwin On Life Support Marc Goodwin lost a big pot to Jan Sorenson. On a board of J-3-3-9-x, Goodwin thought his J-9 would be good enough to take down the pot. However, Sorenson flipped over qh.gifqd.gif for a better two pair. Goodwin slipped to 7,400 after that loss.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Dicing with Death Calmly facing the potential pre-bubble place like his name would suggest, Marc "Mr. Cool" Goodwin just put his remaining 8,200 in preflop in Hold'em -- as you would expect with good ol' ah.gifkd.gif. Barney Boatman gave him a spin with the nicely dominated da.gifjs.gif, and the board brought no upsets. Barely an eyebrow twitch from the English pro.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Gobboboy Cracks Jacks HOLD'EM--Jimmy "Gobboboy" Fricke raised from the cutoff and Barny Boatman reraised from the button. Gobboboy called. The flop was ks.gifqs.gif6c.gif. Gobboboy checked, Boatman bet, and Gobboboy called. The turn was the 3d.gif and both players checked. The river was the 6d.gif and both players checked again. Gobboboy showed qc.gif4c.gif for a pair of queens while Boatman tabled js.gifjh.gif. Boatman shook his head after Gobboboy cracked his jacks.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates David Levi Exits in 18th place So near and yet so far...David Levi's last hand was in Omaha/8, and it caught my attention not because of the size of the pot, but because of the volume of the...discussion Mark Vos was having with the dealer about the size of the main and side pots (Mark and Yuval Bronshtein were both in on the turn when Levi's last chips crossed the line). The board read: qc.gif5h.gif8h.gifqh.gif and two stacks of grey 100 chips were already poised for the kd.gif river in front of Mark Vos...they successfully saw off Bronshtein. Vos, awarded the tiny side pot, showed his hand: 3d.gif2c.gif5s.gifqd.gif to take the main pot as well.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Lowball To Horse Still in this HORSE tournament is veteran poker player Eric Dalby. The name Eric Dalby hasn't achieved worldwide notoriety, but over here on English shores he established himself as a fearsome player when he rose triumphant in the inaugural Ladbrokes Poker Cruise a few years back. Nicknamed "Lowball" online, I have actually played this amicable chap a few times on the Omaha/8 cash tables, but as his name suggests, Lowball is clearly his field of expertise. In fact, back in 1994, he became the British Lowball Champion and continues to play the game whenever he can. However, Lowball is undoubtedly a dying game, and one that wasn't resurrected by the HORSE event, but Eric surely holds a passion for the old-school games, not to mention the skills which have attributed to the Londoner reaching what is now the bubble in this event. Eric is currently sitting on 65,000, with a great shot of making the final table

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Jimmy Fricke's Stack Takes Another Hit Razz -- Jimmy Fricke surprised Barny Boatman when he called 2K with his js.gif, Barny showing the 2d.gif. And he called again on fourth street, then check-raising fifth street when their hands were: Boatman: (X-X) 2d.gif6c.gifqc.gif Fricke: (X-X) js.gifah.gif6s.gif Barny called the raise, and confidently led out 4K when he received the as.gif to Gobboboy's kc.gif on sixth street. A quick glance at Fricke's stack was enough to tell it was looking the felt in the face, and when he paid off the 4K river bet (Boatman showing the (3d.gif5s.gif7c.gif) for a winning six-low) he was left with around 10K. The tension is mounting...maybe when the bubble bursts the three-deep spectators will all fall forward into some kind of two-table vacuum...

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Stephen Ladowsky Exits in 17th place Although Djinn was looking forward to using her Gobbobubble pun, it was in fact Stephen Ladowksy who has been forced to bite bubble dust, the likes of fellow shorties Jimmy Fricke, Marc Goodwin and Tom Nightingale all evading that painful just-out-of-the-money spot. It was a pretty quick and painless departure, the cool as a cucumber Ladowski down to just 1.2k before he finally made his move. He'd been teasing us for a while, and had allowed the blinds to pass more times than we expected, but with an Ace showing in Stud, now was a great time to pounce. As expected, Ladowski found action in more than one place, Jesus Ferguson and once chip daddy Gary Jones progressing with the hand. But after Ferguson had bet Jones out of the hand, it was on their backs time with Ladowski looking for a fifth club that never arrived. Ladowski = [5c.gif][4c.gif]ac.gifjs.gifkc.gif5d.gif[8d.gif] Ferguson = [kd.gif][kh.gif]7d.gifks.gifjc.gif8s.gif[4s.gif]

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Two Tables Tango And here it is... they're in the money (next out receives £5,250) and they're already playing in their new seats after a record-breakingly smooth redraw: Jennifer Harman - 107k Gary Jones - 65k Jan Sorensen - 130k Barny Boatman - 70k Alex Kravchenko - 58k Mark Vos - 55k Yuval Bronshtein - 85k Tom Nightingale - 20k Jimmy Fricke - 20k Marc Goodwin - 13k Kirk Morrison - 116k Joe Beevers - 73k Chris Ferguson - 70k Thomas Bihl - 80k John Juanda - 45k Eric Dalby - 46k I have no idea which table I would choose if I had to play down to the final with one group of players...

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Gobboboy Doubles Up Gobboboy was all in preflop for his tournament life. He held qh.gif6c.gif against Joe Beevers' qc.gif8c.gif. The flop was 9c.gif7c.gif6s.gif. Gobboboy was ahead but Beevers picked up outs with a flush draw and an open-ended straight draw. The turn was the kh.gif and the river was the ah.gif. Gobboboy's hand held up and he increased his stack to 8,000.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Doooooooo The Hokey Pokey Barny "Bellygance" Boatman is currently sitting on 70,000, but his chips have been in and out more than the hokey pokey and his stack up and down like a yoyo on a spring. Around dinner time, the Hendon Mobster was riding high with over 80,000, but after his rolled-up aces were cracked in Stud by Alex Kravchenko's (10-10) 6, which eventually made a straight, Barmy Barny was left with a bisected stack. However, although not particularly experienced in HORSE, he has played more tournaments than your average player and so knows how to get his nose back in front, which is exactly what he's done.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Kirk Morrison Eliminates Jimmy Fricke in 16th (£5,250) It's fini for Jimmy as the Kiwi Kid and Gobboboy engulf in a Hold'Em raising war, the Aussie Millions runner-up shoving in shrapnel on the kd.gif7h.gif3h.gif flop and revealing 2d.gif2s.gif. Morrison disappoints the American by revealing ac.gif7d.gif which comfortably dodges the two outer on the ks.gif turn and jc.gif river. 15 cowboys remaining in this Horse event.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Marc Goodwin Exits in 15th Place (£5,250) Super-short-stacked Mr. Cool finally bit the dust in 15th place, but judging from his smile when the bubble burst a short while ago, he isn't taking it too hard. As he took his seat for this brief period of two-table play, he said, "I've got no chips," pointing to his diminutive stack, and it proved to be a vision of the near future.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Harman Shoots Down The Nightingale He's been struggling for quite a while now, but young British pro Tom Nightingale just took a substantial hit as he lost a 40k pot to American superstaress Jennifer Harman. The game was Omaha, and I joined the action on the river of a board of qs.gif4s.gifda.gif5c.gif2h.gif with Tom reluctantly showing 10s.gifkh.gifqh.gifjs.gif. Tom knew that he was beat, and he was, Harman adding even more chips to her ever-increasing stack with as.gifqd.gif{Th}kd.gif for top two pair. Nightingale has lost his chirp and is now on just 20-25k.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Quad Aces for Barny On a board of as.gifjd.gif8s.gif7s.gifah.gif, Jan Sorensen bet and Barny Boatman raised. Sorensen went into the tank for a couple of minutes and eventually called. Boatman quickly turned over ac.gifda.gif5d.gif4s.gif. Boatman scooped the pot with quad aces for the high and 8-7-5-4-A for the low. Sorensen angrily tossed his cards into the muck as Boatman dragged the pot.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates 46e1deebf3fa1.jpg The Wall of Vos, Mark II All Change The title of this post best describes Mark Vos' stack... Nine rows of stacks of ten 100 chips are balanced in front of him like a chip wall. A moment ago the gaps caused by the double elimination on the other table forced a big blind move, and when the T.D. approached Mark Vos he said, "That's the worst decision you've made all night." "I didn't want to make that one," admitted the floor, as multiple racks ferried the young player's large (but less than 50k total) stack ten feet to the right. Stack calmly reassembled, Mark is relaxing with a Mojito and has taken down a few pots in the Omaha round.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Barny Boatman Eliminated in 12th Place by Yuval Bronshtein (£6,562) The cards were only just in the air after the colour-up break, and critically-stacked Barny Boatman had it all in during the Razz holding four spades -- three of them nice and low. Boatman: 5s.gif8s.gif2s.gifks.gif Bronshtein's hand finished up 2c.gif10d.gif3s.gifas.gif7s.gif6d.gif, while Barny received the 10s.gif and a pairing 5c.gif and was already halfway out from the ropes, congratulated and hand-shook by the other players at his table.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Mark Vos Eliminated by Chris Ferguson in 11th Place (£6,562) Following hot on the heels of Barny, an even more micro-stacked Vos got it in against Jesus during Omaha/8. With the blinds at 2K-4K now, it was a necessity, and the creative stacker accepted his final loss with good grace and a nod to his competitors.

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Kirk Morrison Eliminates Eric Dalby in 10th Place (£7,219) After forming a long-standing relationship with the felt, Eric Dalby has finally departed at the hands of Kirk Morrison in a Razz battle, the New Zealander calling three bets, the final one an all-in from the local lad. Although the Kiwi Kid was reluctant to call the final bet, it was almost obligatory, but by the final card it was Dalby who required a miracle, looking for an ace or a deuce to stay in the competition. Unfortunately for the Brit, neither arrived and we're a wily veteran down. Dalby = [6d.gif][5c.gif]3d.gif6c.gif7c.gif8s.gif[5d.gif] Morrison = [4d.gif][10s.gif]6s.gif7s.gif8d.gifah.gif[3h.gif] "Thank you gentleman," said Dalby as he rose to his feet. "Good luck on the final table."

Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Jan Sorensen is Eliminated in Ninth Place by Jennifer Harman (£7,219) The Game: Omaha/8. The board: js.gif10c.gif4s.gif10d.gif4d.gif Jan Sorensen's hand: 6c.gifkh.gifjc.gifqh.gif Jennifer Harman's hand: as.gifks.gif9d.gifkd.gif The result: Down to the final table, which will reconvene at 2 pm tomorrow local time. The verdict: It's been a very interesting day of play from some of the top players of the game(s). And an earlier finish than we anticipated. The bar is still serving the mojitos, which Mssrs. Vos and Rayan Nathan vouch for, and it's a lovely summer night here in London town. Thumbs up.
