morlspin
Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Greenstein Playing Tight The top tournament pro, famous charitable donator and author has either added invisability to his list of talents or hasn't showed up all day. His stack is still in, at last count at just under 3,000 meaning that his tight style has put him in the top 2/3 of the field as Day One trundles towards its conclusion, outlasting players like Dave Colclough, and most recently Richard Gryko. Meanwhile, another table up top breaking has sent us Annie Duke, who's been sat to short stack Richard Ashby's left. Her first magnanimous gesture upon arriving downstairs was to convince Management that bottled water should be henceforth on the house. Three cheers for Annie, hydrating the poker community. morlspin
Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Juanda Pushes Off Best Hand by Calling Omaha/8 A pot has risen around a board of with three players to the river. I caught the action as Juanda, rock-like (in the sense of being very still only) considered the 1,600 he was now facing. Eventually he made the call, apparently getting rid of the player still to act with the winning hand, as his opponent mucked. Juanda had to show his hand to win the pot -- he had made the call with and took the chips and a bit of ruffled surprised commentary from his tablemates. morlspin
Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Freefalling Fin Patrik Antonius, who really hasn't got going today, has been in freefall mode and is now down to just 3,500 in chips. However, although he's struggling chip-wise, his opponents' efforts to once and for all eliminate him from the comp have been in vain. The plucky Fin is refusing to give up, however low he is. After being bluffed off an ace-high flop in Hold'em by JJ Hazan, Patrik then took the blinds, his raise leaving him with just 600, before stealing the blinds once more. Soon after, he managed to flop a set of jacks from the big blind but was unable to find any action from JJ, who folded instantly. Patrik's still smiling, although it seems he is being stalked by two dancers who have decided to strategically position themselves by his table so they can continually gawk at the former model, leaving me to mop up the drool. Barry Greenstein's chair is now down to 600 in chips, but is holding it's own. It has managed to avoid the bring-in and is holding fast. At the start of play today, Barry Greenstein, Joe Sebok, and Andrew Fitzgerald were all no-shows for the tournament. Sebok and Fitzgerald's chips were taken out of play, but Barry's were left in play.

Tangling with Michael Tsamis from the big blind in a spot of Omaha, Madsen's 1.5k and 3k bets on the flop and river of a board were swiftly called by Tsamis before Madsen admitted defeat by checking the river. Showing while Juanda had the , he called the whole way down as their respective hands came to look like: Juanda: (X-X) Ferguson: (X-X) After the final card shot off the deck at each player (the dealers here deal European-style, smoothly off the top with the deck held on the table rather than pitching) it was Juanda who faced the final 3k bet from Ferguson. Call. Ferguson showed his hole cards to be () for the winning low hand. Shorstacked but making an understandable pre-flop raise with , Jeff was called by both the blinds, one of whom was the wonderfully named Yuval Bronshtein. With both blinds checking on the flop, Madsen made his 1.5k continue bet but was re-raised all-in for his remaining 2.1k by Yuval. On their backs, and Yuval was behind with , but managed to hit a set on the turn, before surviving the harmless river. It's obvious that the green top of Gary has drawn super-human Samson-esque powers to his game. If the rest of the field want to stop him, they should certainly consider dying his hair back to its original colour or popping on a brown wig while he's not looking. Whether this strategy is in the TD rules, I'm unsure. I actually spotted Gary outside during the break. He was in all sorts of trouble with the police after his hair caused traffic bedlam at the nearest traffic lights. Thank god poker's an indoor sport! morlspin
Re: WSOPe £2500 H.O.R.S.E live updates Nightingale Has a Good Razz Round British player Tom Nightingale won every hand of Razz I was watching just now, and with the ante at 500, the bring in 500 and the betting rounds at 2k and 4k, that's added a nice extra turret to his chip tower. Betting Jan Sorensen off one hand on fifth street, and Jimmy Fricke off another on fourth, he also got involved in the biggest pot of the round (which isn't saying too much - they are being pretty cagey at the moment). Nightingale made it 2k to go straight away with the showing, and Gobboboy called showing the . Barney Boatman raised, with the showing, and both of them called. They checked round fourth street and were showing: Nightingale: (X-X) Fricke: (X-X) Boatman: (X-X) Tom Nightingale bet out 4k, and both players passed, Barney considerably more reluctantly. He came 3rd out of 25 that time, but is playing for slightly more money here. He's on the right track though, having just won a nice pot of Razz from Michael Tsamis. There were 3 players involved in this hand, the other being Eric Dalby, but the veteran bailed out in the later stages leaving Tsamis to call a Joe Beevers (4k to 8k) re-raise and mucking his cards as Joe shows Ten high to take down a nice chunky pot.
