Starts in 1 hour :drums :drums Wonder how many it will get :unsure Think there are 3 starting days with a capacity of 2500 each day? Plus any "replacements" (I forget the official term!!) Day 3 is supposedly full - so might not be that far short of last years figure....

Re: WSOP Main Event Interesting - don't know when this changed, but there are now 4 x Day 1 .... it's strange because the "contingency" day was supposed to be for a second day 2, not an extra day 1 :unsure With a 3000 capacity too, looks like numbers could well be bigger than last year!!!! He briefly went over the rules, with emhasis on the following three... 1. You must be at your seat before the last card is dealt, otherwise you will have a dead hand. 2. You cannot be on a cellphone or text messaging when the first card is dealt. If you are, you're hand is declared deal. 3. You cannot put chips in your pockets or conceal them anyway or take them off the tournament floor, they will be taken out of play.

1 minutes ago First Bad Beat Story of the Main Event Hope you can keep your lunch down after reading this. Player has Aces, raises to 300. Another player on the button has Ac.gifKc.gif, pops it to 1,200. First player re-raises to 4,000, guy with Big Slick goes all-in. And of course the player with Aces calls. The flop? All clubs. The player with Ac.gifKc.gif flops the nut flush and the player with Aces is the first player knocked out of the 2007 World Series of Poker. That'll be $10,000, please.

Re: WSOP Main Event Still watching the updates and see crispin leyser playing (he who's in dispute about getting some of jamie gold's winnings from last year) so have a dig around to try and find the latest on that saga and find that "Should Gold keep all $12 million, he would owe $4.2 million in federal taxes alone. If Gold splits the prize money at the casino, he and Leyser would each owe $2.1 million on $6 million apiece. Gold and Leyser would also have to pay state taxes. $4mill in bloody tax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :loon:loon:loon Is that then the same for all winnings - it's taxed by 1/3. If so it begs the question 'is it worth entering at all?'

Who,s going to win then ? my 3 picks are Tj cloutier, william thorsen and mmmmmmm Chris Ferguson. lets see if anyone on here can pick the winner or more likely someone to make the final table:ok
OK then, my fairly predictable 3 to make the final table are - Phil Ivey, Carlos Mortensen, Andy Black. I expect GaF top advise that they have all been knocked out already :(

Tax free for brits' date=' not for yanks. ha ha.[/quote'] There was an article in Poker Player a couple of months ago, it appears that if you win then 30% will be withheld. You can claim it back, but they recommended that you get the forms filled in before you go as it could ages to get money from Uncle Sam.

Re: WSOP Main Event

Sat, 07 Jul 2007 03:52:26 Andy Black Eliminated In two hands and in quick succession, Andy Black is out. First hand: A player limps, Black raises to 24,000 on the button, and his opponent calls. The flop comes J-10-6 with two hearts and both players check. The turn is the 8d.gif. Black's opponent checks, he bets 8,000 and is called. The river is the 3h.gif. Black bets 15,000 and his opponent calls. Black announces he has nothing. His opponent has 7-7 and takes it. Second hand: Soon after, Black is busted when on a 3-4-3-7 board, Black bets, another player goes all in, and Black calls with 4-5. His opponent has A-A, the river is a jack, and Black is out and leaves in a hurry. Black was the chip leader for a good part of the day, but it did not last. 450 left at the end of day 1..... Re: WSOP Main Event 4 minutes ago The First Bust Out of Day 1b One player raises to 300, another player reraises from a blind position to 1,600, and the first player calls. The flop comes 8-4-2, and the player in the blind position bets 3,000. His opponent min-raises to 6,000, and the first player moves all in. His opponent calls with 4-4 for middle set, and the first player shows J-J for an overpair. The next two cards are blanks, and the guy with pocket jacks (who was in the blind position) goes home as the first bustout of Day 1b. Yes, he went broke in the first ten minutes with pocket jacks, no set, no draw. According to the opening seating chart, the player eliminated was Timo Maymann. But we haven't been able to confirm that. 20 minutes ago Instant I.D. As 2006 World Champion Jamie Gold tried to enter the Amazon Room he found he didn't have his seat card. And as security won't let anyone inside without their seat card, that posed a bit of a problem. Gold wanted to go to the registration window but security wouldn't let him in without I.D. Well, there are HUGE posters of every Main Event champion hanging around the room and Gold reached inside the frame of the door, pointed up, and said, "Dude, look up, that's me!" Other people waiting outside the tournament room verified Gold's identity and the guard let him inside to get a new seat card. Sat, 07 Jul 2007 10:41:25 A couple hours to go.... There is only a couple of hours to go before the start of Day 1B. Yesterday there were 1287 starters for Day 1a. Rumor has it there will be quite a few more today. Stay tuned as we bring you all the action as it unfolds from the Amazon Room.
