The Return of Inside Info

Re: The Return of Inside Info

Hey TBR. Thanks for starting this up again I have something to look forward to this week. I think it great that you have started this up again. There are too many questions with this thread recently which have been pointless to argue over. I say that once TBR has posted his inside info then thats when this tread properly starts. Simple
why look forward to a thread that ultimately may not reach profit by backing each horse? There are so many threads on here in profit & i cant believe people get so excited about someone they dont know posting a "tip" from a "source" whereas the likes of Mowgli, RussP, Jtw1 & many others spend hours on the form etc & produce a detailed analysis of the race in question. Eachj of their threads is in profit, why not follow them instead? I can only imagine its because people are frightened of understanding what good info is?

Re: The Return of Inside Info As a "newbie", I would like to congratulate the powers that be here at PL on a tremendous site that provides useful, informative advice, views and those all important specialist threads. I found the site originally by accident on google - best accident of my "cyber" life. I have picked up a number of winners based on the specialist threads from the likes of Bowles, RussP, Ralphie, Mowgli et al. It was originally the "Inside Info" stickie that I frequented most of all, trying to pick up little bits of info here and there - and there were some absolute crackers, however, there was in amongst the good a hell of a lot of sh*te info (especially in the last couple of weeks of it's existence). I moved from following that sticky to following the specialist threads and now like to contribute to the daily threads and naps with my own selections, which I thoroughly enjoy (don't get nearly as much work done now as I used to!!). For what it's worth my opinion, as a "newbie" is that the site could absolutely use an inside info thread, however, from genuine sources like TBR, Bowles etc where they do actually appear to have "inside info". I hear tips from guys every other day who had info from someone who knows someone at the stable but would never in time put them up on a thread of this nature due to the fact that the majority of time... they lose, proving they aren't genuine. Unless I actually spoke to the trainer or the source from the stable myself, I wouldn't pass the info on in a thread like this. What I am trying to say is, that if there are tips upon tips appearing in this thread, they surely cannot be genuine inside information. Good luck TBR, I will follow this along with the specialist/daily threads I always follow with interest. It would be interesting if you did keep a record of all of the horses backed to show p/l. Congratulation, all, on an excellent site.

We are not using this thread to post info everyday like Mowgli, RussP, Jtw1. Inside info doesnt come everyday. When it does it is up to the punter to place a bet on that horse or not. We can only wait a couple of weeks to see how the new and improved inside info can provide us. Then, after that you can comment on how bad it is. If you just want to relie on the form then nobodies stopping you but if you want a little bit of inside info from stable or jockey, then look at this tread every now and then to see what info we have. I will willing to stick with this tread for a couple of weeks and see what it produces, then after that we can all comment on it

Re: The Return of Inside Info Just to add my thoughts. Some of the info on the other thread was really good, TBR's info seemed genuine and from a genuine inside source and quite succesful. However what spoiled the thread was some of the other contributions which seemed to be along the lines of "my mate dave knows abit about the horses and mentioned this horse". That was the kind of info which devalued the thread for me. I don't know the solution im affraid. basically I fully agree with cc75

Re: The Return of Inside Info

Post count #37 Inside info tip count #0 and you wonder why the last one got pulled
Im sorry ...There is way too much negativity on here..Lets forget about the whole thing shall we.. ..It is a further discussion on inside info in which most members have inputed..It doesn't prove a thing where the inside thread is concerned.. what do you want.A tip for every suggestion and discussion thats posted???. This has turned in to a discussion on "it" rather than being "it".So your no tips part holds no water..

Re: The Return of Inside Info I can understand what Bowles is saying with regard to all the quality threads, and how frustrating it can be to spend time writing up previews/opinions only to feel they are being ignored by the masses. I also see how the quality of ATR could be affected if newcomers only look at such a monster as 'Inside Info'. I've only ever frequented this place, athough having looked at befair occasionally, i can say this place shits on betfair from a great height! Why ? Because of reasoned argument with selections. Although i sometimes wonder how many posters actually read the other posts before putting up their own opinions. The truth is that alot of people just love the idea of a 'gamble or inside info' so maybe they can be accomodated , but with the warning of ENTER AT YOUR OWN PERIL! After all we can all choose which threads to read or not.

Re: The Return of Inside Info If people really do have genuine inside info. Why cant they just post it in the daily thread and state that it is inside info. Genuine inside info happens every now and again we dont imo need a specific thread for it. Too much crap will get posted . Guys I appreciate you sharing the info put lets just put it in the daily threads unless your ego wont alow that.

Re: The Return of Inside Info TBR is a good bloke, When he puts a tip up I trust him, You don't have to take notice of other people do you...Just bet the ones you trust, Its not hard... ...I don't see why you dont just create a sub-forum called 'Inside Info' (with a cheeky little sentence underneath) that way if you don't like it, You will know you never need to go on that board:)

Exactly :clap If you have inside info for Warwick ~ 06/07/07, post it in the Warwick ~ 06/07/07 thread, with the reasoning given as "inside info from......"

Yes but I mean...at the moment its just posters tips what they think...if someone posts a inside info tip up you might get more posts then people will have to go through 4/5 pages trying to find the normal tips...so the people that dont like inside info might get pissed off with that...if you see what i mean..ill leave..

Re: The Return of Inside Info

Post count #37 Inside info tip count #0 and you wonder why the last one got pulled
Didn't it get pulled because of pointless posts like this? Why are the form-studiers so threatened by an inside info thread and continually try to undermine it with criticism and negativity? If you don't like it, surely you don't read it. If, as you say, it will die on its own, well just let it. Why are there complaints that the 'form' threads aren't getting as many views as an inside info thread (and therefore not as many pats on the back???). It's that that strikes me as egotistical (since that words being thrown around again). The work done on ATR over the last 3 years has created a fantastic forum and credit to those involved in it. The guys that put the effort in to study form, etc also get my respect. But I've never seen such fuss caused by one thread. Reminds me of a playground. Pathetic!

Re: The Return of Inside Info It is Pathetic, just post into the relevant thread with the reasoning of "inside info". No discussion needed, as with all the other posts in the relevant threads. You either agree with the reasoning or you post a selection opposing it, simple.

Re: The Return of Inside Info For me Wayne its not about 1 thread getting more attention than another. I am not a mod in ATR or no much about horses. For me its aboiut keeping PL tidy. The inside thread last time was a mess. If people want their own inside thread then go and put it in glory hunters forum. Thats where it belongs.

Re: The Return of Inside Info Simpler option, just create a new post with your info. So when the tip comes up.... Info on Warwick 2.10 Then in the post put what you want, source, reasoning etc. People can reply to that tip in there. Next tip then another post. Simple?

Thats never going to be an option. We would just have 100's of new threads every day/week.

This is what we are trying to AVOID - ATR would look a complete mess if that happened

no-ones threatened by a thread that turns into a General chat most of the time. i dont even think its being undermined to that degree mentioned. as some of the others have said, it turned into a monster. if we need a poll "do you want a seperate inside info thread" then so be it, we can set that up. There are no winners or losers here as we all should be working together. However, i see no problem with having critical replies to posts as long as we keep it constructive. One of the originla probs was that people starting moaning when tips were not winning, thats out of order & against the PL spirit.

I know the forum is good but inside info is generally rather limited so if there are hundreds of posts each day then very worrying. TBR would be better off taking his information to another forum. Like a bunch of old women on here arguing what to post on a public forum. Relax everyone its not life or death.
