Darts: PDC US Open

Recommended Posts

A new darts event begins on Friday night. The main event will be screened live on Challenge TV on Saturday and Sunday evening. The format is very much like the UK Open.

I'll take 3 for some interest. Naturally in a field this size it's all minimum stakes. 1pt ew A.Lewis to win PDC US Open 20/1 Bet365 Normally I don't like backing Adrian Lewis outright in a tournament as I think he lacks stamina in a major tournament but this is like most other tournaments in that it's over in a weekend. At the recent International Darts League, Jackpot fared the best of the PDC stars who entered by making the semi finals and played some good darts along the way. It took eventual winner Gary Anderson to stop him in that so that shows Ady is in good touch. He's also got pedigree on US soil having made the final of the World Series of Darts last year and at 20/1 I think he's worth chancing that he carries his form from last week over into this. 1pt ew J.Wade to win PDC US Open 25/1 Bet365 James Wade has been in good nick on the circuit all year. He's won a tournament and finished runner up twice already this year and looked to be playing good darts in Holland last week. We know he can compete on this level thanks to his run to the Matchplay final last summer and at 25/1 I'd go as far as saying Wade is overpriced. On his day he can beat anyone and 2 good days in the US here and he could well be lifting the trophy come Sunday night. 1 longshot now. 1pt ew S.Smith to win PDC US Open 200/1 Blue Square I think Steve Smith is a huge price here. He's shown before on the PDC circuit that he has what it takes to make the later rounds of these open events. He's hit and miss but at 200/1 I'm happy to chance that it's a hit week for him. He's got Colin Osbourne on his board but if he gets going, with so many matches played in a day he could well find himself in the later rounds and from there on it's anyone's. He's got the talent to beat most and if the draw stays kind to him he could just sneak in at a big price.

Re: Darts: PDC US Open Challenge TV!? How queer. Even more queer is that Sarah Cawood who's hosting and Tony Green's announcing (I'd rather see Sarah Cawood than Dave Clark though! :lol).. The TV ad that's running on there is kinda funny but it's a very knowing nod to Sky Sports' coverage.
