The table I sit down at has a 50% players per flop % and average pot size of $6. The play I have seen so far is loose. I agree with your thinking, but for me this raise is too small. By now the pot is worth 0.20, your previous raise was 0.04 Your bet of 0.06 suggests to me that you're scared of the queen. If I was holding an ace, by now I'd think you had something like TT or maybe a flush draw. But that after the flop, you'd been prepared to gamble that noone had an ace. (Obv I'd have been wrong!) I think you need to be telegraphing the fact that you have top pair, and you're not afraid of the Q (which you are!) I wouldn't have gone mad, but would have bet about 0.15 If my opponent reraises, then I have to seriously consider whether he has two pair. But with A8, I'm guessing your oppo would have called rather than reraised (ie you're showing strength, and he knows he has a fairly poor kicker). Without an Ace or a Heart on the river, I'm probably going to check and fold to any half decent raise.

I think you need to bet harder here also. Let them know you have trip Aces! I still wouldn't go crazy, just in case my oppo had an Ace with a better kicker. Following my raise on the turn and (presumably) my opponent's call, the pot would now be 0.50 and so I'd bet about 0.40. and I'd expect your opponent to be worrying that maybe his kicker isn't that great and to call. IF it had played out this way, it would have saved you a few cents. Of course, your nutty opponent still might have gone for the killer raise on the river! :sad Either way, stick him in your notes as someone who is prepared to call pre flop with A8s from early position. Over time, you'll get your money back from this player :ok

With no flush draw out there I didn't think it was that bad. Probably the biggest error I made in that hand was betting on the turn. With a potential straight flush out there I should have bet a lot harder and probably gone all-in, as at this point I'm no longer looking to get more chips - the correct decision was probably all-in here?
