RussP's Specialisation - Flat Handicaps

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat)

Let's start the week with a winner at Wolverhampton. 1.50.....Seldemosa (RPF 6/1) Admittedly, this horse hasn't won for 2 years but here's hoping today is its day. Has been running very consistently over CD and looked all over the winner lto before finding nothing. Interestingly today, it has very accomplished 5lb claimer on board, which could make the difference. Pretty poor race which shouldn't take much winning.
3rd @ 14/1:)

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Over to Southwell for Tuesday. 1.50.....Blakeshall Quest (RPF 7/1) Likes it here and in the 1st 3 on 5 of its last 6 starts here. Likes to race up with the pace which is ideal at this track, and is well berthed in stall 3. Won here 3 starts ago when proving a very tough nut to crack, but excuses last twice despite very creditable efforts off this mark. Lto track probably didn't suit, and time before it fared best of those front runners when the race was set up perfectly from the come-from-behind types. Hopeful of a big run.

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Monday 19th Feb EW fancy in the 4.35 Lingfield, SOLO FLIGHT is the selection at around the 7/1 mark. Hails from the in form Hughie Morrison stable, who has had 2 winners and 3 2nds from its last 5 runners. Won here in this grade 3 starts ago and is now only 1lb higher than that effort. At the veteran stage now but is enjoying its racing. Decent effort lto when 4th lto behind 2 very decent types. Also finished behind one of todays rivals, Bad Boy, that day but that horse has a poor draw today and will struggle to make all in this handicap.

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) With nothing standing out over the sticks, lets try these 2 on the AW. Saturday 24th Feb In the 2.00, the stand out EW offering for me is BENEKING, a 6/1 shot. Winner 3 starts ago and excuses last twice. Drawn in stall 1 and provided this horse breaks well, should go close. I believe the fav has too much weight and could be thwarted in its hat trick bid. Trip / track ideal for the selection and fully expecting a return to winning ways. The 2.30 race sees a 13 runner Cl 2 handicap and ORCHARD SUPREME, for the Richard Hannon stable, is the EW bet at 6/1. Again, excuses last twice due to small fields and no pace. Although trip may just be short of ideal, a fast pace today should be guaranteed and this horse will be coming fast and late. Middle draw looks fine too and should make the frame in a competitive heat.

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Couple of Saturday disappointments, so lets hope we can make amends this week. Monday 26th Feb:- The 4.00 at Wolverhampton, a mile & a half handicap with 12 runners and let's get on the currently frustrating BAY BOY from the in-form Johnston / Fanning combo. Interesting that this horse is stepped up again in distance, and is slightly eased in grade too. Usually goes from the front and is tapped for toe at the end. Maybe this longer distance should put less emphasis on speed and expected to be in the money. A nice little EW bet at 8/1+.

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) Let's start March off with a winner:hope Thursday 1st March The first race at Lingfield (1.30) sees 10 runners go to post and we'll be having an EW nibble on TURNERS TOUCH from the foot of the handicap. Slowly creeping down the weights and hails from decent stable, with interesting jockey booking in Chris Catlin. Always run its race at Lingfield, and ridden a bit more positively, could easily win today. Not many with solid credentials so the likely double figure odds makes this horse an attractive betting proposition. With Bay Boy ensuring a fast pace too, the race will suit this horses hold up style too.

Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat) One for today:- KEMPSEY 2.10 Southwell 14/1 at Sporting Odds In form front runner who won last time it was campaigned over 5f. This course suits front runners and it is ideally drawn in stall 3. Could be swamped off the final turn but should stay on for a place at least. Goes well for this 7lb claimer too.
