Has been running very consistently over CD and looked all over the winner lto before finding nothing. Interestingly today, it has very accomplished 5lb claimer on board, which could make the difference. Likes to race up with the pace which is ideal at this track, and is well berthed in stall 3. Won here 3 starts ago when proving a very tough nut to crack, but excuses last twice despite very creditable efforts off this mark. Lto track probably didn't suit, and time before it fared best of those front runners when the race was set up perfectly from the come-from-behind types. Hopeful of a big run. Hails from the in form Hughie Morrison stable, who has had 2 winners and 3 2nds from its last 5 runners. Won here in this grade 3 starts ago and is now only 1lb higher than that effort. At the veteran stage now but is enjoying its racing. Decent effort lto when 4th lto behind 2 very decent types. Also finished behind one of todays rivals, Bad Boy, that day but that horse has a poor draw today and will struggle to make all in this handicap. Saturday 24th Feb In the 2.00, the stand out EW offering for me is BENEKING, a 6/1 shot. Winner 3 starts ago and excuses last twice. Drawn in stall 1 and provided this horse breaks well, should go close. I believe the fav has too much weight and could be thwarted in its hat trick bid. Trip / track ideal for the selection and fully expecting a return to winning ways. The 2.30 race sees a 13 runner Cl 2 handicap and ORCHARD SUPREME, for the Richard Hannon stable, is the EW bet at 6/1. Again, excuses last twice due to small fields and no pace. Although trip may just be short of ideal, a fast pace today should be guaranteed and this horse will be coming fast and late. Interesting that this horse is stepped up again in distance, and is slightly eased in grade too. Usually goes from the front and is tapped for toe at the end. This course suits front runners and it is ideally drawn in stall 3. Could be swamped off the final turn but should stay on for a place at least. Goes well for this 7lb claimer too.
