Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) Got to fancy Palmero strongly to defeat Newcastle. They defeated West Ham earlier in the competition with some clinical finishing, and Newcastle will go there with very little goal threat themselves. Ameobi, Martins & Sibierski are all likely to be missing with injuries, & Rossi is ineligable. Palmero meanwhile currently sit second in Serie A, while Newcastle lie 16th in the Premiership. Roeder has also made the shocking choice of restoring Bramble to the Newcastle back 4. Only one winner here in my eyes.

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) Frsiky, I seem to remember from last season that you were the resident expert on footballing matters Israeli. What are your thoughts on Maccabi Haifa away to Rangers? I quite fancy the Israelis DNB @ 3.75 with bet365 as Rangers are no more than an average side these days. Going through what they call a 'transition phase'

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2)

AZ Alkmaar at 2.7 with bet365 to beat Grasshoppers is a very tempting bet here for me. Have to check with libi about his thoughts on Grasshoppers before commiting however.
GC just lost on Saturday at home against Basel, but still hold top spot in Swiss league. They have done very well this year in Europe and at home. I guess it would be safer to go with X2, don't think there is so difference in strength between Dutch and Swiss first league (leaning slightly towards the dutch). One recent result was Basel - Feyenoord 1-1, with Basel dominating the match from A-Z, but just not being in too great form.

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) Dinamo Bucuresti - Besiktas. Dinamo @ 1.91 Besiktas are no good travellers in uefa. And mostly in Romania. They will probably conceed 2 or more goals from Dinamo. I remember them playing in Sofia for group qualify and on regular time was 2-0 for CSKA. And in champioship are no good either, just a draw in last match at home 0-0 ... Dinamo are really on fire now. A goal scoring machine. They play fast with hard tackling midfielders and forwards that are capable to score from any side and any distance, they have in Niculescu a very good freekick specialist (last one from 30 metres away @ Bistrita). And not to mentioned the fans that will make a great show on this game. Dinamo are after 13 consecutive victories in championship and now it's their chance to prove that they are good in Europe too! GL 10/10

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2)

Maccabi will be lucky not to get hammered by Rangers, sorry to say that . Preview to follow game day .
Surprised by that, but since I'm no expert on Israeli fitba, then perhaps I'm missing something. Maccabi seemed to play fairly well against Liverpool. Have players left, major injuries hit or something we should know. The only reason I ask is due to the poor form Rangers have shown over the last few weeks. A lot of people saying that the Gers are built for Europe, although would be wary after the Livorno game since the Italians looked particularly poor (UEFA perhaps not a priority for them). Not a home banker by any means. Will await team news before donating any cash to Ladbrokes. GL :ok

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) Dinamo-BJK Dinamo play great in Romania, 13 consecutives wins and great played, best attack and best defence, 30 goals scored and only 7 received. Strikers are in best form, Ganea, Danciulescu and Niculescu scored 22 goals from 30. BJK is an inconstant team, but now they are poor. 0-0 at home and they had one more player from 18 min but don`t scored. Attack is good but now Nobre is injured. Defenders are poor and strikers from Dinamo can easy to score. In qualifier they won at home with CSKA 2-0 and at Sofia they lost 2-0 too but they scored in ET. First round they lost 0-2 at home with Tottenham. Dinamo doesn`t play. Dinamo-BJK 1 1.91 bet365 8/10 Dinamo-BJK AH[-1.5] 3.65 bet365 3/10

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) Happoel-Rapid I have in my mind matches from last year in UEFA Cup. Rapid defence very well, at Berlin won 1-0 with Hertha, at Rotterdam, draw with Feye 1-1. at Donetk, won 1-0 with Sahtior and 0-0 with Steaua. This year they draw 0-0 at home with PSG. Happoel lost 0-2 at Atena, with Pana and in this match they will try to win. But i see at Pana and they don`t have many chances to score. Rapid is satisfied with one point i think, because they will have next match at home with Mlada and with 5 points they have chances to qualified, IMO. For me: Happoel-Rapid under 2.5 1.70 globet 10/10

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) That was in yesterdays paper as to how Livorno wanted to concentrate on Serie A and saw the Uefa cup as a nuisance. Again, will wait for the team selections in case its the well known Licorno double bluff. Otherwise a double of Livorno and Bucharest would seem value.

The squad must have been selected already or? Or when do they do the squad selection, furthermore I don't see any reason why they would "bluff". Just to get us punters mad or what? :\

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) Let me add my few word to your discussion on Livorno. Yes, the coach will field some players from reserve as the president of Livorno Club asked him (unofficially) about it as in his eyes the successfull place in the Serie A table is crucial and more important that UEFA Cup. However, I am still not going to bet on Partizan Belgrad. First of all, we know little about this team and what's more we should remember that other Italian club AC Parma keep fielding the reserved squad in UEFA Cup and still win. All in all, for the time being Partizan - Livorno is NO BET for me :\

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) chala & TheKing :cheers The absences in Newcastle seem very serious, aren't they?. I cannot imagine who will score the goals in Palermo for the visitors. Without Ameobi, Martins, Sibierski & Rossi Newcastle will be toothless. The only strikers left is A.Luque so I don't exect much in ofennsive of the visitors. What's your point on this, mates? What's more I think that Roeder won't risk the healthy & condition of his key players as only 40h after Sicily game Newcastle will be facing Sheffield Utd. which could be a crucial game for "The Magpies" in their Premiership mission. Palermo put West Ham out of the UEFA Cup 4-0 on aggregate in the previous round and lead Serie A. In my opinion, the hosts will take advantage of the situation in Newcastle and we will see a HOME WIN (1.80) feel free to comment :dude

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) Surely I cannot go against the tide when TheKing, Chala and DJSOSNA all back Palermo. :cheers Match: Palermo – Newcastle Pick: Palermo –0.5 Odds: 1.794 @ Pinnacle Stakes: 8/10

Analysis: Palermo’s record this season has been impeccable. They have lost just 2 games this season, winning the rest and are coming off a very good win away against a strong Fiorentina side. They story about Palermo has been their attack; they have been terrifyingly effective upfront and were only denied once this season. Yes their defense may be suspect at times but more often than not, their offense more than makes up for it. In contrast, the effects of Newcastle’s kamikaze defending could not be negated by a strike-force which hardly strikes fear into any decent side in Europe. Another poor 0-0 draw against an even poorer Charlton side testifies to this fact. Newcastle’s lack of options upfront is evident. With the 2 contrasting qualities of Palermo’s ruthlessness upfront and Newcastle’s poor showing in defense and having already recorded strong wins over the likes of quality opposition such as AC Milan and as mentioned above, Fiorentina, I would have to fancy Palermo to continue their fine season here and simply outscore Newcastle to record their 11th win. Amauri and company should face little resistance. Palermo to win 3-0.

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) Don`t be fooled by Livorno`s president speaks about early exiting the competition as their goal. Remmeber that ppl from Palermo was talking similiar things but then they kicked out West Ham. It`s just Italian thing , and provocation before the game. Our players are sure that Italians will give their best tomorrow to compensate home loss to Rangers. And I`m sure that our guys won`t underestimate opponents. Partizan will field it`s usuall lineup , without wunderkind Jovetic , that scored most of the goals in last Partizan matches. He is still 16 and Partizan managment didn`t licensed him for the competition. We`re gonna also miss experienced midfilder Tomic who is longly absent , but he isn`t at his prime , and significantly decelerate our play. There still will be fielded Zajic , Odita , Marinkovic , who proved themselves as goalscorers in past Partizan european games. Partizan this year has two faces , one bright in europe , and other rather ugly in domestic league. Now things are getting better in League , and motivation is surely huge . It`s gonna be tight game , for sure , as guests aren`t in smashing form in their league either. I watched their last game , and they seemed quite average. Partizan managed to held much better teams on their field then Italian team. This yr we played two games at home in Europe against Maribor and Groningen respectivly and won both 2:1 and 4:2 . Our coach Jesic is known for his attacking tactics and Partizan should start attacking tomorrow from first moments . Italian club`s are famous for their defensive minded play , and i have no doubt that Livorno will play on counter attacks , until the late part of the game . For years Partizan used to play games in Under 2.5 region . It was almost sure thing , as this thing of ours can be sure . Now ... i`m not quite sure . If any team get`s a lead early in the game , the game will be open and with lot of goals. If not , i predict 1:0 , 0:0 , final score. Anyhow , anything over 2 , on Partizan win seems to me like value . GL!

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2)

You wanted to write Livorno or i read right?
No, I meant Palermo. They made 8 or 9 changes for their last UEFA cup game so I assume they'll make a lot of changes for the Newcastle game. Livorno was a seperate point. They did not impress a bit against Rangers and I can't see them getting anything from their game.

If I remember rightly they also made lots of changes against West Ham and still won 4-0 on aggregate. Aswell as no strikers, Duff & Parker have also been rested from the squad. Newcastle's side looks worse by the day.

Re: UEFA Cup (Nov 2) I like the looks of Dinamo too. Saw the Besiktash game against CSKA Sofia. They were overrun by CSKA and CSKA is in poor shape right now. They got to this stage in UEFA cup only, because of some lucky goals in Turkey and because several key CSKA players ran out of strength and were replaced by youngsters in the additional time. Only then they were able to get some chances and level the result. BTW Besiktash will have some Koray Avci midfielder guy back. Heard of him?
