Well, I've only ever played rebuys up there so for me it felt like unknown territory. However.... I had a really good time. The buy in was £15+£1.50. You got 5000 chips and twenty minute blinds, so you had a good hour or two's poker before the shorter stacks started scrapping for their lives. I would say there were about 80 odd players and top 10 got paid. I was in Seat 10 on MCFC's table and they decided to stick a dealer in between us. I won the very first hand when my KJos hit a full house, but it was pretty much uncontested as the table was playing pretty tight. MCFC had the table laughing on a couple of occasions (and that was apart from how he was playing). Almost as soon as he sat down he was asked whether he was a Man City fan.:eyes As I said it was weird sat there and not hearing 'rebuy' every 30 seconds, but the quiet was interrupted by the 'cabaret' act that they had on. Last week we missed out on a Michael Jackson tribute (rather worryingly the poster said 'bring your kids :\), but we were unfortunate to have a Freddie Mercury tribute act. Shockingly bad to say the least, but on the bright side it was right at the other end of the casino. On the downside he wasn't at the other end of the potteries. I don't know if it is just me, but you do lose track of time in the casino, so I couldn't give a time span, but at the first break I was still about the 5,000 mark, as was MCFC and DP, although P-Lady was already on 12k!:eek Out of the 4 PLers I was first to go out (in about 41st) when my KK allin was called by P-Lady and another. Sam had 10 10, but the other had QJos and hit 2 pair.:puke I was not best pleased to have been taken out by (imo) a muppet play, as I'd been a good boy up to that point and avoided any dodgy play. After that I retired to the bar to chat to Mrs MCFC, and I was joined by Pocket Lady and MCFC. DP was the last PLer to go out, but I'll leave that for their own version. All in all I had a bloody good night with good company (not counting Freddie), and the 3 of us in PL T-shirts looked pretty smart. I do think that because of the size of the card room and the level of buy-in that the Circus in Stoke would be a pretty good venue for larger PL poker nights. We wouldn't need to hire the cardroom as the Sat tourney would be perfect for us, especially as the dealers are included. :ok Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have the disturbing news that one PL member (who shall remain nameless) turned up without her PL t shirt on!! It was a great night and anyone who lives within striking distance should be there on a Saturday night. £15 freezout, 100+ runners, deepstack, free drinks and sandwiches. We even had Freddy and the Dreamers onstage doing a turn. The other players were friendly and chatty it was nice to play poker with people with a sense of humour for a change. Mr V went out in a Hellmuth style rage, Mrs V did very well (as usual ;)) I finished 23rd ish and DP bubbled :cry but we will be back to try again defo Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
