A little goalscorer fun

This is just a fun strategy Im going to give a go with small stakes. Theres no set selection process for the picks, just what takes the fancy really. On full/near full Premiership weekends Im going to select a first goalscorer in each match. Im then going to back these in doubles. So a full weekend would consist of 10 selections and 45 doubles. Using William Hills (1/2 odds, 1st 3) Im also going to back the same selections in e/w doubles to see any difference. This will probably go very tits up which is why Ill be doing it to very small stake but it's a bit of fun and Im interested in how often I can get 4 or 5 1st goalscorers up. Re: A little goalscorer fun after eventing by about 10 years but it was a goal scorer bet that got me into gambling really. When I was about 18 I placed an accumulator (yeah i know) on 10 different goalscorers. I think it was 5folds and upwards but not sure. Well basically on the saturday 6 or 7 of them scored 1st including Beckham at 10/1 against Liverpool. On the Sunday I had 1 left Ravanelli for middlesbrough. He scored but it was second. It was only 10p bets total stake was just over £11 but I won £700, if rav had scored it would have been a hell of a lot more. I guess what I am saying is good luck lol.

Re: A little goalscorer fun would it not be better for you to stick to same players each week? i know you are looking for bigger prices but the likes of : Henry AJ Keane Crouch Rooney etc will score around the 20 mark & therefore more likely to notch up the doubles? Might be worth it when those teams play away as the odds will be slightly better.

:ok GL with it. i used to do a lucky 15 every week with owen, shearer, RVN & Henry, missed the day they all came in when i forgot the bet!! all around 7/2 would have been a nice payout!

An ok start. One place double, two place singles and a win single due to a NR. Damn Hills and their rules. Drogba scored the second goal of the game but ,as he came on after the 1st was scored, both win and ew parts of the bet are void.

Re: A little goalscorer fun Can someone make sure Im not going mad? Using the results so far we have 2xNR, 14/1 winner,6/1 winner and 6/1 place. Using 1/2 odds for the place part I make the returns for .5 ew doubles 131.50, but using W.hills bet calculator it makes it 120. Im sure Ive noticed mistakes when using their calculator before but can someone double check for me.

I think theres loads of money to be made on this you only need 2 players to come in as first scorers and your laguhin', and that isnt very much to ask at all. 1/2 odds for 1st 2nd or 3rd scorer is extremely generous considering the odds are probably shorter for a player to 'score in 90minutes'. I dunno that for certain but they probably are right? and how many matches end up in over 3 goals?

Many times Ive heard people in my shop say "Its 20/1 ,1/5 odds is still 4/1". WRONG. Its 4/1 for the place but £1 ew would return £5 for a £2 stake, thats a 20/1 shot becoming 6/4!!! So a 4/1 goalscorer here would be 2/1 for the place part. £1 ew would return £3 for a £2 stake. So you're only getting 1/2 on your whole stake. Its the possible bonus of a full payout that gives it any extra value. Sorry to sound like Im ranting and you probably know all this. It just irritates hearing people at work misunderstand the real "value" of eachway bets.

Re: A little goalscorer fun Nah i pretend i know what it means but when an each way bet comes in on the horse its like 4.53 so i dunno where they work out that hundreth from :s So i think my current bank on there should be a little more than what ive worked out on there but it could be less. At the end of the day your prob only gonna need a winner and a placed goalscorer to return profit anyways i think? Depending on the odds of course. Might need 2 placed scorers actually. Oh well, good luck from me!

I'm sick of having similar conversations with people who complain that betfair's place odds are never as high as 1/4 of the win odds. When in reality they should be as low as 1/8, because the win element of your bet is a loser if an eachway selection comes 2nd or 3rd. I'm glad you've also pointed this out, I thought it was me going mad!

One goalscorer so far. Not helped by two games being goalless. I was considering picking No Goalscorer for one match(Charlton - Portsmouth) but you cant use it in e/w bets. So these matches will always cost us. Two scorers tommorrow would see us make a profit.
