He really ought to win this well and needs to but has been second all runs over hurdles. Gone to Harry Dereham and although everything is in his favour, it may be he has a few ideas of his own. Last year's winning yard give another run to Ventara who fell latest when the entire field were taken off their feet by Matterhorn. Ventura hadn't been traveling at all badly when coming down at the seventh. VENTURA Each way The jockey Brendan Powell has ridden Brentford Hope before and presumably knows him better than most and this can only help Ventura here..... Never outside four and five class. Campaigned in class six handicaps for second yard. Drops into classifieds for first time on debut for Alice Haynes. Halved in ratings and price now. Good chance. Best performance for Bryan smart when third over trip to Azure Blue ( 94). Subsequently bolted up over seven f by 6.5 lengths at Newcastle. Done very little since. Steps up in trip and may improve under Oisin Murphy. Off 227 days will have come on physically. Interesting choice of horse name given Murphy's come back win on Alcohol free. Small stakes. A small win too on the well bred girl racer for William Haggas related to two group class winners in south Africa ? FIDUCIARY Each way Is the only runner who has raced in a grade higher than this race having contested class 1’s. Big outsider here and has to give weight to the entire field. COCO JAMBO Win Is the form pick. Two lengths adrift of the winner here when last seen. Wide open race and no suprise to see one of the George Boughey runners take a hand from Newmarket just like Haggas’ horse destroyed the field in the previous race. It seems absolutely crackers on paper that Billy Loughnane should lose on Daheer at 100/30 joint fav and win on Clipsham Gold at 20/1 but that is what happened. Likewise, Oisin Murphy winning on May Knight at 4/1 and losing on Pessoa at 15/8 favourite. Yet that happened too. This fortunate bit was betting on the non-favorite of the star Jockey and apprentice. Not many jockeys win much more than over 20% of their races in a season so I feel it makes good financial sense to look out for and back their rides at good prices. One winner in the L15 gave me 3 winners and a profit of 8.39 points. This makes my MTD +52.51 and YTD -42.76 This is all well and good but I have slapped my wrist because I spent too many points on my races today. I should have staked less on some races and excluded some selections. Took a while for the penny to drop, but huge confidence displayed by the jockey, took a wide route from a long way back and swept by the field effortlessly. Wolves SWEET MIST Ran an excellent comeback race in second under Rab Havlin backed in from 20s -14/1 THEREHEGOES Won @ 11/2 & COLEYS KOKO 66/1 Followed him home in second Csf was about £340 which would have been nice. Not the first time the two selections have been first and second recently. GIRL RACER 2/1 South African bred and related to group winners. Made an excellent winning debut.
