2.50 CH- .5 e/w THE WOLF 40/1 corals bog 5places-  .5 e/w ICEO MADRIK 50/1 Bet 365 bog 6places. 2pts  invested  P/L 1.22pts

The wolf has been running well enough and is on a nice low weight now while the pipe horse  having first run since arriving from france could be anything some decent runs in decent races over there the softer gound the   better both very  big prices and worth e/w bets imho.

  • Tedthewolf changed the title to Racing Chat-Tuesday 14th March.(Cheltenham Day 1)

A Different View From a Quirky Eye.

130 (4 places bet365)

Of the shorter prices I think it would be foolish to assume Facile Vega ran a race last time out so is the obvious winner to these eyes however if connections have sorted its quirks out I think High Definition is a good ew play of the English runners I prefer Strong Leader at the prices. Footnote after I wrote this I notice it has been cut from 50/1 to 25/1. Remember these are novices.

210 (3 places)

Again bear in mind that these are novices, Jonbon beat El Fabiolo and I always think that the loser has more to prove than the winner so Jonbon of the shorter prices, at the bigger prices I think Straw Fan Jack is well overpriced at 100/1.

250 (6 places bet365)

For me is a pin sticker other than Corach Rambler who's connections were lucky to get away with schooling in public last time out, 2nd fav for the grand national this one stands out to me. Cloudy Glen at 20/1 is a good price for the EW.

330.

Even these eyes can see Constitution Hill but we all know what can happen so no bet for me

410.

Some people will kick themselves silly if Honeysuckle wins this at the 4/1 on offer at the time of writing.

450 (6 places)

I think we are looking for a couple of EW chances in this and I will put up two with an addendum. Shared 50/1 has done little wrong and Ludus 33/1 for shrewdie Elliott, Oddly enough both my selections are ex Roger Charlton Horses, I initially suggested a bet on another ex Charlton horse in Amir Kabir also trained by Elliot but that one is a no show. The addendum is that Jessica Harrington has only brought 4 horses to the festival so Mighty Mo Missouri is also worth a consideration.

520 (3 places)

We shouldn't fear one horse but I don't see the fav as particularly strong to be odds on, it loses far more than it wins but we have amateur Jockeys so who knows, Codd (chemical energy) has a great record in this type of race but im going to risk a few small sheckles on Coolvalla 22/1 and Bellatrixsa 100/1 at these prices.

Whatever you pick and whatever you bet on I hope you have a good and enjoyable day.

This is an outstanding month. I watched the French hammer the Sassenachs at Twickers. Then the Paddies beat the Jocks in a tough match at Murrayfield.

I am going to be 60 at the end of this month, and 3 close friends from school have birthdays mid-March.

I have two first cousins who have their 60th birthday about now; all O'Briens. I have a feeling that this is going to be a great meeting.

Today I have a strong feeling for MISTER COFFEY in the 17:30.

At home for the racing all week, actually going on Friday, so Lucky 15 to hopefully get some money back.

1.30 Dark Raven 28/1  4 places at B365 (hopefully softer going will be a plus won’t be far away from Inthepocket which was my choice for the Bally)

2.50 Nassalam 9/1 6 places (Soft ground going for the step up to bring improvement, some Cheltenham form)

4.50 Risk Belle 12/1 6 places (Lottery I think something will be well in somewhere question of finding it, run in high company)

5.30 Tenzing 9/1 in the last race again soft going and distance get see the fav being beat but got to try

A 'Sassenach;' is actually a Scotsman! It was the name given by the Highlanders to the Lowanders of Scotland all those years ago.

Thanks to @MCLARKE and his excellent trends articles. I have decided to pick four favourites each day and stick them in six £1 doubles.

I used an initial shortlist of the top two forecast horses in each race and rated them on Michael's trends of which out of the 14 points he mentions there were 9 positive points and 5 negative points here's how the shortlist scored. Final score in brackets

1:30

Facile Vega 7-2 (5)

Marine Nationale 6-1 (5)

2:10

Jonbon 8-0 (8)

El Fabiolo 5-0 (5)

2:50

Corach Rambler 2-3 (-1)

Into Overdrive 4-1 (3)

3:30

Constitution Hill 9-1 (8)

State Man 8-1 (7)

4:10

Marie's Rock 7-1 (6)

Honeysuckle 4-2 (2)

4:50

Tekao 5-1 (4)

Baker 5-2 (3)

5:30

Gaillard Du Mesnil 2-2 (0)

Mahler Mission 3-0 (3)

From this my four selections are:

Jonbon

Constitution Hill

Marie's Rock

Marine Nationale

Let's see how it plays out.

I was trying a smiliar thing on the opener, 25% win boost

I ended up putting £50 on Facile Vega without the boost, doh !

Two winners and a non runner and a few close calls.  Got duped into backing Maries Rock, should have backed Honeysuckle.  Missed @richard-westwood's post on Marine Nationale so I would have included that one instead of Facile Vega.  Anyway, with the extra returns paid on the Betfred L15 for Corach Rambler I scraped through with a 0.60 profit on the day.  Makes my MTD + 9.09 and YTD -86.18.

Had 4 winners in the comp so I can't complain
