Barton Bank

Recommended Posts

I recently had a strong debate with a mate of mine regarding Barton Bank winning a major race in the early 90's, at an available price of 100/1.  I had watched a previous win and was very impressed and it was 40/1 in the Racing Post the day I told my workmates that it was worth a couple of quid each way, and they duly informed me they had got 100/1 on it.  I myself got 66/1 on it over the telephone with Ladbrokes. I'm fairly sure it was the Boxing Day meeting at Kempton in 1993 but according to the stats it went off at 9/2, unless it was backed down heavily that day.  Best SP prices when it won are 20/1 on 3rd April 1992 and 12/1 on 30th Oct 1993.  I definitely don't think it was 1992 as I moved house in June that year and it was after that.

So does anyone else remember the horse starting of at a high price and being backed down, I'm certain I wasn't dreaming it.

Could have been a big price when it  won grade 2 @ 12/1 on 30 Oct 93 after 227 day break.  Pulled up before break and won novice chase before that.
