Next Premier League Manager to be Sacked - Is Time Running Out for Hasenhuttl?

The next Premier League manager to be sacked market is one that is underrated in terms of value but clearly one that is growing in popularity as teams throughout the top tier of English football show a reduced level of patience with their gaffers in charge. The average life span of a manager in their role in the English top flight is just over 2 years so it's no surprise punters are leaping on this market.

This season is no different. Bournemouth, Aston Villa, and Wolves have already parted ways with their manager and we've only just entered the month of November. A number of other managers have also been touted as the next one to suffer the axe at their club. The current favourite with the bookies is Southampton head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Labelled the "Alpine Klopp", Hasenhuttl has helped the Saints to consolidate their place in the top division of English football but it's not been a reign without its ups and downs. The club became the butt of a lot of jokes, memes, and comedy Twitter accounts when they lost by a 9-0 score-line not just once but twice! The heavy defeats to Leicester at home in October 2019 and Manchester United away in February 2021 left many fans wondering how on earth the Austrian gaffer avoided being sacked for such humiliating results.

Still, here we are. The 2022/23 season with Hasenhuttl having been with Southampton since the middle of the 2018/19 campaign. It's hard to deny it's not been an entertaining tenure in charge of the club for the former RB Leipzig. His decision to adopt the gegenpress whilst signing of number of players who had achieved cult status as top talents on the football management simulation game Football Manager won over a large number of fans both within Southampton and with other clubs.

Unfortunately, the club are now down in 17th place in the Premier League and just 1 point above the relegation zone with just 3 wins from their 13 league games thus far. Recent victories for the likes of Nottingham Forest, Leicester, and Leeds mean their managers appear to have seen their odds lengthen in the next manager sacked market. This has left Hasenhuttl as the clear favourite as next Premier League manager to lose their job.

It could prove a very crucial next couple of weeks for Hasenhuttl with the team facing two more league games before the Premier League action takes a break for the 2022 World Cup. The south coast club face Newcastle at home on Sunday 6th November and then Liverpool away on Saturday 12th November. Two very tough games. If Southampton lose both then is Hasenhuttl out? Or will he get more time?
