Preston have played 7 games.. and have won 2 and drawn 5 ... the key stat is that they won both games 1-0 and all of the draws were 0-0 (must be exciting stuff). They play Birmingham who are one of the poorer teams in the division in my opinion.

The obvious play is UNDER on the goals market.

Honestly, we played them last week and drew 0-0. Never encountered a team so negative before. I've always rated Ryan Lowe as a manager but it seems he's setting out to simply not lose with this lot and then try to suckerpunch a winner. It appears to be working so far but it can't last surely! Games like this against Birmingham they should be looking to win and not be so negative. You're right though. I can't see a different story here. Under 1.5 goals would make sense. You know if Preston do take the lead they're going to sit on it and not look for more.

Millwall vs Cardiff

The transfer deadline day delivered its usual sprinkling of chaos this year but with all the wheeling and dealing done it's now back to the matters on the pitch. The Championship action continues this weekend and I'm looking at Millwall versus Cardiff in a 3pm BST kick-off this Saturday afternoon from the Den. Both of these teams are at the wrong end of the table but can they get a crucial victory here?

Millwall were a team I felt could flirt with the play-off places this season if they made the right signing or two in the remainder of the transfer window. Checks notes... it doesn't look like those signings have come with the only noteworthy addition being midfielder Callum Styles from League One club Barnsley. Gary Rowett's side are down in 19th place and just 2 points above the relegation zone. Perhaps more worrying is that it's now 4 league games without a win including losing their last 3 league games on the bounce without scoring a single goal in that losing streak. The Den has always been a venue that is synonymous with a hostile atmosphere and intimidation so it's no surprise to see that Millwall have won 5 of their last 6 home league matches.

Cardiff have had a busy transfer window rebuilding and it was a positive end to the window for Steve Morison as he added forward Callum Robinson from West Brom to his ranks. The much sought after out and out striker option never came with the club linked with the likes of Jordan Hugill, Theo Walcott, and Sam Surridge but the Bluebirds faithful will be pleased to see an experienced Championship player and Republic of Ireland international join the club. Cardiff have hit a bit of a rocky patch with no win from their previous 4 league games but the problem isn't a secret. A lack of goals is holding this exciting team back. Morison has kept faith with Max Watters but his misses and lack of positional sense has cost the team points so will Morison persist? The season-long injury to full back Jamilu Collins was also a blow but the loan signing of Everton's Niels Nkounkou appears to have sorted that issue out.

I'm interested to see how this one pans out. Both clubs are a bit low on confidence right now after a spell of poor results but I think Cardiff can probably be a bit more optimistic coming into this game because the impotency in the final third aside they have been putting in generally solid displays. Millwall fans are not happy with Rowett, the tactics, or the player performances right now and I think if Cardiff get it right then they should come away with a win and crank up the pressure on Rowett.

Hull City vs Sheffield United

Hull City have had an inconsistent start to the season with three wins, two draws and two defeats, while Sheffield have a great start to the Championship campaign and currently leads the table with 14 points with a record of 4W-2D-1L.
Hull City’s defensive forms are not good enough, while Sheffield remained unbeaten in their last four outings against Hull City, winning three. I will go for Sheffield in this clash.

Sheffield United   @1.91
