Roma vs Feyenoord

The first ever Europa Conference League Final is set to take place on Wednesday night at 8pm BST from the Air Albania Stadium in Tirana when Italian Serie A side Roma take on Dutch Eredivisie club Feyenoord. Both of these two teams will be competing in the Europa League next season and this is a chance for them both to try and add a long overdue major European trophy to their cabinets.

Roma head into this game as the slight favourites and they do so with the experienced Jose Mourinho at the helm. The Portuguese manager has won the Champions League and Europa League in the past as well as domestic league titles in England, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. He also boasts a 100% record in European cup finals. I Giallorossi have only tasted European success twice before having won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1960/61 and the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1972. The club finished 6th in the Serie A so will feel there is room for improvement on the domestic front but lifting this trophy would add some gloss to that campaign. The team only managed 1 win from their last 6 league games and only won 3 of their 6 knockout games in this competition. Mourinho's men navigated their way through a qualifier with Trabzonspor before a group containing CSKA Sofia, Zorya Luhansk, and Bodo/Glimt before progressing past Vitesse, Bodo/Glimt, and Leicester in the knockout phase.

Feyenoord have been a bit of a surprise package this season. Arne Slot's team could only finish 3rd in the Eredivisie behind league winners Ajax and second placed PSV by some way too. De Trots Van Zuid had to get past three rounds of qualifiers where the opposition included FC Drita, FC Luzern, and Elfsborg before even reaching the group stage. The team finished top of their group containing Slavia Prague, Union Berlin, and Maccabi Haifa. That saw them into the knockout stages where they stormed through against Partizan Belgrade, Slavia Prague, and Marseille. The team have been free-scoring in this competition having bagged 28 goals in their last 11 matches. That said, they have also conceded 15 goals during that period. Winger Luis Sinisterra could be a fair shout for anytime scorer having scored 6 goals in his last 9 appearances in this competition and he is currently the top scorer for the club this season with 23 goals across all competitions. The Dutch side to boast a more celebrated trophy cabinet than their Italian opponents having won the European Cup in 1969/70 and the UEFA Cup in 1973/74 and 2001/02.

This is a fantastic opportunity for one of these two teams to end their season by creating some new history. I think that Roma have a big advantage with Mourinho's European cup final experience. No matter what you think about the man, he certainly knows how to handle the biggest occasions. Feyenoord undoubtedly have the attacking quality to cause Roma problems but their defence has big question marks over it and that could be their undoing here.

Roma vs Feyenoord

Roma, who won their previous game, will hope for a similar result following the 3:0 Serie A success vs Torino. That victory secured them a top-six finish in the domestic competition and a place in the Europa League for the next season. Under three goals per game were scored during 5 of the past six meetings where the Giallorossi have participated. Regarding the goal attribution from that period, opposing sides scored a total of 4, and Roma got themselves 6. It’s a low absenteeism rate, with just a single fitness concern for the Roma boss José Mourinho to contend with from an otherwise complete squad. Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Hamstring Injury) is out of contention.

Since a loss in their previous game against FC Twente in the Eredivisie competition, Feyenoord and their fans will hope to get a better result this time. They finished the domestic campaign in 3rd place, but a win here would see them secure a direct spot in the Europa League. During their six most recent matches, Arne Slot's Feyenoord has managed to stick the ball in the net ten times, thus giving them the goals scored per game average of 1.66. Feyenoord has enjoyed a great continental campaign this season, and they just need to make the final step to the continental trophy.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

It is going to be a very entertaining clash, at it can easily go either way. However, Roma has boosted its confidence with the latest win, while Jose Mourinho has a lot of experience in games of such importance. Therefore, we believe the Italian side will win this match.

Goals Market Prediction

Both teams have been involved in many efficient matches this season. Their offenses have netted a lot of goals, but their backlines haven’t been that tight. That’s why we believe these two teams should produce at least a goal in each net.
