Celta Vigo vs RCD Espanyol

Kick Off: 12/17/2021 16:00

Celta Vigo

Celta Vigo made a goalless draw with Mallorca in the last league game. They have achieved 4W-5D-8L and accumulated 17 points, which put them 14th in the table. The team actually lost only one of their last six games in the league, but won only one in the same period. The host have a bad home performance this season for having only taken only five points so far.

RCD Espanyol

Espanyol made a 4-3 success over Levante in the last league game - currently rank ninth in the league table with 23 points for achieving 6W-5D-6L in the first 17 games of this season. The Catalan's performance in all games has been impressive, winning four of the past five games, including the 2-1 victory Cristo Atletico in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.

Prediction

Celta Vigo have not been at their form for most of the season. Espanyol 's confidence will be high due to recent wins, but the draw between the two teams has been very frequent in recent years. We predict that RCD Espanyol will be unbeaten in this game.

Pick: RCD Espanyol to be unbeaten

Final Results: 0-1, 1-1

Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid

Kick Off: 12/18/2021 16:00

Sevilla

After back-to-back 1-0 victories over Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla currently rank second with 34 points in the league table and 5 points ahead of fourth-placed Atletico Madrid. The team have the best defensive record in the division so far because no other La Liga team have conceded less than 11 goals this season. Lopetegui's men lost 1-0 to RB Salzburg in the last group game in Champions League, and finally advanced to the Europa League with the third place in this section.

Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid fell to fourth place in the league after losing back-to-back to Mallorca and Real Madrid in the last two rounds. The defending champion's recent success is largely based on their excellent defensive record for conceding 18 goals in 16 games. Unlike Sevilla, Atletico Madrid will appear in the last 16 stages of the Champions League. Their 3-1 victory over Porto proved enough to advance to the next round, where they will play against Manchester United.

Prediction

Atletico Madrid will be desperate to avoid losing the league game for the third time in a row. Nevertheless, Sevilla have been impressive for most of the season and we support Sevilla to get at least one point at home.

Pick: Sevilla to be unbeaten

Final Results: 2-1, 1-1

FC Barcelona vs Elche

Kick Off: 12/18/2021 13:30

FC Barcelona

Xavi's side have taken only one point in the last two games - losing to Real Betis at home and drew 2-2 with Osasuna last weekend. The team have only 24 points in the current 16 games, ranking eighth in total, 5 points behind fourth-placed Atletico Madrid and 18 points behind leader Real Madrid. Barcelona were eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage last week and the club fell into the Europa League, where they played against Italian team Napoli.

Elche

Elche lost 2-1 away to Valencia last time out. Meanwhile, Elche have achieved 3W-6D-8L in the current 17 games, accumulating 15 points and ranking 16th in the table. Since Francisco became head coach at the end of November, the team have been in impressive form for winning three of the past four games in all games, two of which were come form Copa del Rey against Leioa and Unionistas de Salamanca.

Prediction

Barcelona have won the last five home games against Elche, resulting in psychological advantage. It is difficult to have any real confidence to support Barcelona, especially considering their injuries. But even for this poor Barcelona team, Elche should not pose a big challenge.

Pick: FC Barcelona

Final Results: 1-0, 2-0

Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid

Sevilla profited from wasteful Atletico and in-trouble Barcelona to sit in 2nd place in La Liga. The home side is eight points behind Real Madrid but has played one match less than the top-placed team. Sevilla booked two straight wins, and both were narrow and against tricky opponents. Julen Lopetegui’s team hasn’t been much productive in the front, but their disciplined defense helped them become title contenders. Jules Kounde and the lads kept the clean sheet on the previous two occasions and want to keep their backline tight. They’ve been very confident at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, allowing their rivals to get away undefeated just once.

On the other hand, the defending champions cannot be content with their form, and the red alarm is active. They lost twice in a row, with the latest defeat coming in El Derbi Madrileño. That poor streak saw them declining to the 4th spot, being 13 points behind Real Madrid. Diego Simeone’s side hasn’t played well in defense, managing to keep its net intact just once on the previous eight occasions in all competitions. It’s going to be Atletico’s second straight outing, and they booked just one victory in the last five matches on the road. If Luis Suarez and the lads fail to pick up all three points from this one, they’ll likely be out of the title race.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Sevilla is a very disciplined team, and Atletico Madrid will have a hard time earning a victory in this clash. They failed to get back home with a win from Sevilla from the last three outings, and this game could likely end in a draw.

Goals Market Prediction

Atletico Madrid’s defense has been pretty porous this season, and Sevilla could take advantage of that. One of the teams kept the clean sheet only once in their last five encounters at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, and we could see goals in both nets again.

Correct score 1:1 @ 6.00

Barcelona v Elche: 20 points on <40 booking points at 6/5 PP (or 11/10 Sky Bet; it was 11/10 in both places so the slight drift was an unexpected bonus when I went to bet with Paddy)

Hardly the most thrilling of bets but I think this is a text book if bog standard example of value, getting odds against about what seems to be a coin toss.

Ref Alberola averages 39 points over his La Liga career (87 games) dipping to 35.8 of you look at this season and the previous 2 (48 games). Over those 48 games, 24 have gone under, 14 landed bang on 40 and 10 gone over. Not only is the total bang on 50% over those 3 seasons but it's exactly 50% in each individual season as well! Not absolute proof that this is a coin toss proposition but it wouldn't help you to justify betting over 40! All 4 games he's handled that involved Barca went under 40 points and one of his 2 involving Elche (the other hit 40).

Both spread firms go 37-41 for bookings. If you take the midpoint of 39 as a true value that makes the odds for <40 pretty much bang on evens. What more proof could you want! :)

Sevilla vs FC Barcelona

Kick Off: 12/21/2021 16:30

Sevilla

Julen Lopetegui's side made a 2-1 success over Atletico Madrid last time out. Sevilla have achieved three consecutive victories in La Liga - against Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid - separated them from the pursuers. With the best defensive record in the league, Lopetegui will be confident of winning another three points in this game.

FC Barcelona

Barcelona beat the struggling Elche 3-2 in thge last league game. Xavi's side got 10 points from the possible 15 points in the past five games - this brings Barcelona very close to the top four. Although the team will feel that they are in a slightly improved state, they will face three consecutive away games - the first of which is against the main opponent who may replace Real Madrid's top place.

Prediction

We have a feeling that Barcelona and Sevilla should have a close match here. However, in view of Sevilla's stable state and home advantage, we support Sevilla's unbeaten record.

1X2 Pick: 1X

Sevilla vs Barcelona

Sevilla goes to this clash after beating the defending champions last weekend. The home side is full of confidence, as they also melted Real Madrid’s advantage by two points, thanks to Los Blancos’ hiccup against Cadiz. Julen Lopetegui’s side is now six points behind Real Madrid, having a game in hand. They have also booked three straight wins and seem like the only team that can challenge Real Madrid for the top spot. Jules Kounde and the lads are the most disciplined team in defense in La Liga, conceding only 12 goals in 17 marches. Sevilla has allowed just one point to their visitors so far this season, and they want to continue that run.

Barcelona is far from the title race, despite their 3:2 victory over Elche last weekend. Although the Catalans had a two-goal advantage, they allowed the opponents to equalize. Nevertheless, they secured important three points thanks to Nico’s late winner. Barcelona sits in 7th place, being three points behind Rayo Vallecano, who is fourth. However, Xavi needs to improve his team’s away performances, as Barcelona has celebrated just once on the road so far. They should stabilize their game to secure the top-four finish.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Barcelona is pretty inconsistent this season, while Sevilla has been very stable lately in La Liga. It’s going to be a close contest, but we believe the home side will continue its streak and record another victory.

Goals Market Prediction

Sevilla has been very tough to beat in the back this season, while Barcelona struggles to convert its chances into goals when playing at away grounds. Their last five head-to-head clashes stayed under a 2.5 margin, and this one shouldn’t be much different.

Sevilla to Win @ 2.50

Under 2.5 FT @ 1.80

Correct score 1:0 @ 10.50
