Queens Park Rangers (QPR) VS Nottingham Forest

Kick Off: 10/29/2021 14:45

On Friday, Queens Park Rangers will play Nottingham Forest at home, both QPR and Nottingham have been in their good state recently. Their defeat in the past few months only for some of the best teams in the league.

Queens Park Rangers (QPR)

QPR were beaten by Sunderland A.F.C throught penalty kick match, and they hoped to recover from the disappointment of losing the fourth round of the EFL cup under controversial circumstances. The team lost 2-1 away against Petersburg last game in the league. However, they have won three of the last five league games, especially at home, and they have recently achieved a better winning streak. Friday's victory will bring them back to fourth place.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest lost their recent game 4-0 at home. But this is against Fulham, who has just come out of the Premier League. The last three goals were scored within nine minutes of the second half. Before that defeat, Forest had won four consecutive games, and they scored two or more goals in all these games, also they have remained unbeaten in six of the past seven games.

Prediction

The latest meeting between these two sides had ended in a 3-1 win for Nottingham. Given their recent setbacks, we expect both sides to be vigilant against successive failures. Considering QPR have the home advantage and they have lost only once in all competitions at home since April. Hoping an unbeaten record for QPR.

Pick: Queens Park Rangers (QPR) to be unbeaten

Total: Over 2.5 goals

Stoke vs Cardiff

A new era begins at Cardiff this weekend as the club begins life after former manager Mick McCarthy against Stoke in a 3pm BST kick-off on Saturday afternoon at the Bet365 Stadium. It'll be interesting to see how the interim head coach Steve Morison does in his first game in charge. Dare I say quite a few Cardiff fans are quietly optimistic given his superb work with the under-23s development team.

Stoke are enjoying a relatively solid season so far with the club in 9th place and only outside the play-offs due to an inferior goal difference with the Potters being one of 7 teams on 21 points at the moment. Manager Michael O'Neill continues his modest revolution at the club but the team is on a bit of a poor run at the minute after 3 straight defeats. The lack of a recognised goal scorer continues to be a problem with Tyrese Campbell's return to fitness yet to bring with it the goals that he'd previously been banging in for the team. There is good news for the fans though with Stoke maintaining a decent home record. It's 5 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss from their games at the Bet365 Stadium so far this season but that single loss did come in their last home league game in a 1-0 defeat to league leaders Bournemouth.

Cardiff may well be on a losing streak of 8 league games which is an unwanted club record but with new man Steve Morison at the helm there's a feeling that some logic and reason might not enter into the team selection process unlike McCarthy's madness of 5 centre backs and a formation that requires wide players even though he got rid of the majority of them in the off-season. The Bluebirds are now down in 21st place and only 2 points above the drop zone. An emergency meeting with the fans and local journalists in midweek posted a grim picture of a club that is handicapped by three court cases (Emiliano Sala flight tragedy, former owner Sam Hammam being a general c**t, and former director Michael Isaac demanding money allegedly owed), crippled financially by covid, and possessing a number of first team players that are set to be out of contract over the next 6-18 months with little likelihood of them being offered renewed contracts due to financial restrictions. Despite the pessimistic forecast, the fans are unusually upbeat. This is a chance to restructure the club even if it means going back a step. The pressure of achieving promotion is gone and we can just look to bring in someone to enjoy our football again. Could it be Morison? Or will it be one of the other 502 names linked with the job? We'll see.

I actually think Cardiff could be re-invigorated. When commentating on our games for Cardiff City TV in the past he's always picked out issues that us fans have also pointed at. He seems in touch with how the modern game is best played. He's done a sterling job with our youth team. He ticks a lot of boxes. Can he start to get us back on track immediately? I'm not sure. We are a mess. There's no balance. The players have zero confidence. Stoke are in a bit of a slump but their performances haven't given reason for alarm. I do still think Stoke should win this but the optimistic and naïve Cardiff fan in me feels we could sneak a draw. I'll let my head doing the talking though and back a home win.
