UEFA Nations League Predictions > Oct 6th & 7th

Recommended Posts

Italy

They play well under the management of Roberto Mancini. They defeat England and win the champion of Euro Cup. So far, they have been unbeaten for thirty-seven matches. Now they are one of the top team in the world.

Spain

They do not play well as before. It is because there is a lack of excellent players in these years. None of Spanish players is able to play an important role at present. They even lose to Sweden at 2-1 in World Cup qualification.

Verdict:

They draw with each other at 1-1 in last clash and Italy get the victory by penalty finally. Italy are in high morale. And they have home advantage. It is predicted that they will draw with each other in 90 minutes again.

Prediction: 1-1, 0-0

Italy vs Spain

Kick Off: 10/06/2021 14:45

Italy

Italy are in fine form and are currently on an unbeaten streak that has now stretched to 37 games. Being six games unbeaten in League A Group 1, Italy played out a 1-1 draw with Bulgaria before being held to a goalless stalemate by Switzerland. In their latest game, they eased to a 5-0 success over Lithuania.

Spain

Spain failed to respond to their Euro 2020 heartbreak straight away as they once again struggled against an inspired Sweden - losing 2-1 in World Cup Qualifying - but they returned to winning ways with convincing successes over Georgia and Kosovo. They had to face a penalty shootout defeat to Italy at the in the semi-finals of the continental competition after a 1-1 draw.

Prediction

Spain have won just one of their last five against Italy in all competitions. Therefore, it’s obviously that Italy are quite simply the favorites to go on to win the Nations League following their exploits at Euro 2020.

Italy vs Spain

The first semi-final of the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League is coming up on Wednesday night when 2020 European Championship winners Italy take on a high quality Spain in a 7:45pm BST kick-off at the San Siro in Milan. These two sides met just a few months back in the semi-finals of the Euros and they couldn't be separated after 90 minutes on that occasion. Will either team win this within regulation time here?

Italy were tipped by many, including myself (where's that smug grin emoji?! :lol), to win the European Championship in the summer and they only bloody went and did it. Robert Mancini has been building something special with the Azzurri since he was appointed head coach of the national team back in 2018. It's now 37 matches unbeaten for Italy after their 5-0 win at home to Lithuania in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Mancini's men progressed to this stage of the Nations League by topping their group that included Netherlands, Poland, and Bosnia-Herzegovina with 3 wins and 3 draws. Back-to-back clean sheets in their last two games also shows that the defence is still as resilient as ever.

Spain probably exceeded the expectations by many by reaching the semi-finals of the European Championship in the summer. You could argue that head coach Luis Enrique would be praised more for the job he's doing if he hadn't had to follow such a golden era of Spanish national team performances. La Roja might have fallen just short in the summer but this is a fantastic opportunity for the team to bounce back and get revenge against Italy. The 2022 World Cup qualifiers haven't exactly gone great for the Spaniards with the 2-1 away defeat to Sweden throwing their hopes of automatic qualification for next year's tournament into doubt. Spain have only won 6 of their last 11 matches in 90 minutes. The conservative and progressive approach by Enrique has been criticised by some but it's still helped Spain to reach the semi-finals of both the Euros and this competition.

This Italy team have really found a soft spot in my heart. You cannot deny the passion that the Italians have for football and I think it's something that most football fans respect. These are two very evenly matched sides but when it comes down to it I feel that Italy hold the slight edge as a more cohesive side. Spain still possess a little bit of inconsistency which is costing them at times. I can see a narrow Italy win and I'm going to chance a bet that they'll earn it within 90 minutes on home turf.

Belgium vs France

The second semi-final from the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League is set to take place on Thursday night as the FIFA world ranking number one team Belgium play the 2018 World Cup winners France at 7:45pm BST from the Juventus Stadium in Turin. Who will progress to reach the final to play the already-qualified Spain who defeated Italy by a 2-1 score-line yesterday?

Belgium enter this game in a healthy run of form having lost just 1 of their last 17 matches. Head coach Roberto Martinez will still be gutted that his side were eliminated in the 2020 European Championship Quarter-Finals by a 2-1 score to eventual winners Italy but it's been back to usual business since then. The Red Devils currently top their 2022 World Cup qualification group and come into this match having won three matches on the bounce by an aggregate of 9-2 with back-to-back clean sheets in their last two games. It's now 38 matches in a row that Belgium have scored in as well with striker Romelu Lukaku bagging 4 goals in their last 4 games.

France were tipped by many to add Euro 2020 to their 2018 World Cup win but it never came to be. Head coach Didier Deschamps saw his team suffer a shock 2nd Round exit on penalties to Switzerland. Somehow, Deschamps kept his job after that but results and performances have remained patchy with Les Bleus only managing 1 win in their last 6 matches. That was a 2-0 victory over Finland at home in their most recent game but the draws to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Ukraine have left the nation in top of their 2022 World Cup qualification group but automatic qualification is far from assured after 6 games.

Wow, this is a clash of two European giants with some of the best players on the continent strutting their stuff. Very little separates these two teams and I wouldn't be surprised if this went all the way to penalties. You have to wonder if this Belgian golden generation will ever lift a trophy but maybe now is their time with France looking a shadow of the team that stormed to World Cup glory three years ago. This one is a toss of a coin essentially so I'll back a draw over 90 minutes. It could then be decided by the roulette of a penalty shoot out.
