The opening weekend of La Liga is coming up and what an intriguing set of games it could be. The big news that has dominated the headlines so far has been Lionel Messi's departure from Barcelona but also Barcelona's general awful financial situation. How badly will it affect the Catalonian side? Are any of you guys backing Real Sociedad to beat them in this first league game?

Valencia

They sold their players in these years because of financial problem. Thus they were the thirteenth in last season. It seems that they have solved the problem. They bring in several players in transfer window. But they are not in form, which have been winless for two matches.

Getafe

They played poorly in last season. They sign in lots of excellent players in transfer window so that they do not have to fight for relegation this season. And they are in good condition recently, getting a seven-match unbeaten run.

Verdict:

Although Valencia have home advantage, they do not take the upper hand over Getafe at present. Getafe have made great preparation for upcoming game. It is predicted that Getafe are going to take one point from Valencia at least in upcoming game.

Barcelona vs Real Sociedad

Although the new contract with their legendary player, Leo Messi, seemed like a done deal, that didn’t happen. The Argentinian star moved to Paris and signed for PSG, leaving a great hole in Barca’s squad. Ronald Koeman needs to come up with a plan for substituting their main player and probably rely more on Antoine Griezmann and the company. Although the hosts signed Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay to strengthen their attacking line, they still didn’t cover all the holes in the defense. They had severe issues in the backline last season, which was the main reason why they failed to win the title. It will be interesting to see how Barcelona will cope without Messi this season, and a pretty tricky challenge is ahead of them at the start of the campaign.

Real Sociedad was one of the biggest overachievers last season, as the away side managed to finish 5th. However, they were far from the top-four battle, but they will be satisfied with a place in the Europa  League. They were pretty good on the road last season, as they celebrated eight times in 19 outings. Real Sociedad signed  Diego Rico and Peter Pokorny this summer, while they also loaned German Valera from Atletico Madrid. On the other hand, Alexander Isak will likely stay in the club and lead the attacking line. Imanol Alguacil looks forward to another successful season with Sociedad, and the visitors want to make a good start.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Barcelona is in trouble this season, and it will be very hard for the hosts to win the title. It seems that the atmosphere in the locker room is not great, and the visitors might take advantage of that. Although Real Sociedad hasn’t remained undefeated at Camp Nou since 1995, we don’t think they would lose this one by more than one goal. For the brave ones, you can try a double chance on the visitors.

Goals Market Prediction

Since the hosts had many defensive problems last season, we wouldn’t be surprised to see them conceding again. Therefore, neither team should keep its net intact in this clash.

Real Sociedad AH +1 @ 1.80

BTTS Yes @ 1.65

Correct score 1:1 @ 8.00

Villarreal vs Granada

The hosts head to this match after missing the chance to win the UEFA Super Cup after losing to Chelsea in the penalty shootout. Villarreal put a very good second-half display but was less lucky when the game reached a penalty roulette. Despite not tasting a victory in prep matches, Unai Emery’s side wants a confident start to the new campaign. They finished 7th last time but will have the opportunity to participate in the Champions League thanks to the Europa League title. However, the Yellow Submarine needs to spill fewer points at the home ground. Gerard Moreno stayed in the club and showed he’s fully ready for the upcoming challenges by scoring against Chelsea. We’ll see if he can lead Villarreal to better results this time.

Granada had an excellent campaign in the Europa League last season and reached the latter stages of the competition. However, a bad finish of the La Liga campaign held them at 9th place, and they won’t enjoy continental football this season. Robert Moreno’s side picked up just a point in the closing five rounds and stayed 12 points behind their upcoming opponents. The visitors didn’t spend too much during the current transfer window, and they mostly relied on free signings. Carlos Bacca should improve the attacking line, while Granada signed Ramon Monchu from Barcelona and Luis Abram from Velez as well. We will see if they can remain a stable La Liga club and challenge for the top-half finish.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

We see Villarreal winning this match and taking all three points at the start of the campaign. Granada is not so successful when playing on the road, and they win the majority of their points at home. They never managed to beat Villarreal at Estadio de la Ceramica, and we expect the tradition to continue.

Goals Market Prediction

The home side hasn’t been too good in the back lately, as they failed to keep the clean sheet seven times on the previous eight occasions. Granada might score in this one, and we expect both teams to find the back of the opposition’s net.

Villarreal to Win @ 1.60

BTTS Yes @ 1.95

Correct score 2:1 @ 8.50
