If you were able to get 4 places on Master Sunrise then you got something back on him and he's run a solid enough race again. He's actually stayed on well after being headed and looking like he would be well beaten. As for Royal Chance that was just really frustrating. He was just starting to get into contention when he was hindered at the 4th last. Not only have we done our money yesterday, but we also don't even know if the wind op has worked or not. He might well have found little, but at least if he stays up we know that for future races. It's almost certain he will be a bet next time and hopefully he can find just as weak a contest as that one was.

More Buck's was due to run at Cartmel last Friday have been well backed and then had a bruised foot before the meeting was called off. Clearly it's not kept him out for long as he runs in the 4.15 at Perth today and he looks potentially thrown in. A year ago he was 4th in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen off 124 and although he lost his way after that it does mean he is very well handicapped now off a mark of 99. What you have to factor in is the fact the Bowen yard were in dreadful form last year and they are now having winners again. This horse has also found his form again pointing. He was impressive in making most of the running in his first 3 victories this year and was then 2nd last time to Risk And Roll. That one currently has a mark of 122 so even though he was 15L behind him that still puts him on a decent mark. That race was over 2m4f as well and he has clearly thrived for going over 3m in points. I think his jockey will blast him off in front and play catch me if you can.

For Jim is in good in form and likes good ground, but he hasn't won off a mark this high before. He is the main danger though. Hitman Thread has won twice over course and distance in his last 3 starts so he clearly has to be respected although is up to 105 in the handicap now. Istimraar won over course and distance last summer beating a horse I put up. He looked well handicapped that day, but hasn't actually won since. Clearly though he does have it in him off this mark.

Ultimately though More Buck's has around 15lbs in hand of the handicapper based on his pointing efforts over this trip and if he repeats those efforts it is hard to see him being beaten although there will be weaker class 5 contests than this. I also wouldn't want to go much shorter than 9/4 either because of that, but there is still some juice in that price.

My trixie today is:

2.10 Hd Tawaareq 11/4

2.30 Perth Presentandcounting (BH) 7/4 (Golden Taipan heavily supported in the market but makes too many mistakes fro my liking)

3.40 Perth As You Like It (JJO'N) Looks to be a perfect selection, haha 5/2

One £1.50 win Trixie = £6 = Poss £103.71 if all three win

Class 3/4 singles:

2.10 Hd Side Shot (ins bet) £2 win ta 6.6 = £10.98 if win

3.20 Hd Alphonse Karr (JD) £2 win at 8.2 = £14.11 if it wins

6.38 Eps Muscika £2 win at 6.00 = £9.80 if it wins

Total bets so far = £12.00

Not had a chance to look at outsiders yet

I'm interested at this horse.

13:55 at Perth

DOLDRUM BAY

It's currently 28/1 at Skybet which offers 4 places. Bet365 offers 33/1.

This horse hasn't ridden in ages. It now belongs to a new stable.

The jockey, Craig Nichol, is going up to Perth for 2 races (he'll also be up on Hitman Fred in the 16:15).

I'm hoping this horse can scramble into the first 4.

what a brilliant timed run by Tom Marquand on Maglev in the 1420 Yarmouth

I'm not convinced with these tactics, I've backed a few of Marquand's rides where he holds the horse up then makes progress but doesn't reach the winner.

It looks good when it works but rather irritating when it doesn't.

I agree, I too have been denied a winner by his tactics.  Who does he think he is Lester Piggott? He is young though and very talented so I will continue to back his rides

RESULTS UPDATE

I should have put Side Shot in my Trixie as opposed to Tawaareq, suckered in once again by the sporting press.  The same thing happened with As You Like in the 3.40 at Perth.  This time it was RP Spotlight, ATR and Timeform all giving their blessing to that selection.  I will be viewing all their tips with a lot of suspicion in the future; I don't trust any of them from now on to provide genuine testimony to what they truly think will win a race.

Fortunately my insurance bet paid off on side shot and I ended up 98p in profit on the day.  My new balance is is £727.23 (Bank £1056.22)

Five UK meetings again tomorrow.  Three class 1 races at Sandown and not much elsewhere.  Tired now so I will go to bed
