Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City will likely become the new Premier League champion, as they are eleven points ahead of Manchester United. However, their dreams for the quadruple fell apart last week as they lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals. Nevertheless, Pep Guardiola’s side managed to get back on the winning track after beating Aston Villa in the mid-week fixture. Despite going down from the 1st minute, Phil Foden and the lads managed to turn around the result by halftime. After a tremendous winning streak, Manchester City has been unstable lately, as they lost twice in the last five games in all competitions. The fight for major trophies begins, and the Citizens need to stabilize their game.

Tottenham still hopes to snatch a Champions League spot, as they are five points behind Chelsea. The away side needed a late winner against Southampton in the previous round to secure all three points. They have been inconsistent lately, winning only twice in the last five Premier League games. Harry Kane and the lads have been pretty productive this season, but they could have done better in the back. The Spurs knocked out Chelsea in the eight-finals but didn’t have a very challenging task afterward. Tottenham was better than the Championship sides Stoke and Brentford on their way to the finals. Although the Champions League spot battle remains in the top focus for the Spurs, they won’t give up n this trophy.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Finals are always challenging to predict, especially if one game at a neutral venue decides a winner. However, Manchester City is a favorite in his one, and we expect them to win the EFL Cup for the fourth time in a row.

Goals Market Prediction

Tottenham has been involved in many high-scoring games lately. Just two out of their previous nine games remained under a 2.5 margin. On the other hand, City’s defense conceded in the last five matches, and we expect to see at least three goals in total in this one.

Manchester City vs Tottenham

The 2020/21 EFL Cup Final is set to be played at 4:30pm BST on Sunday afternoon when reigning champions Manchester City take on fellow Premier League club Tottenham at Wembley Stadium. It's clear to see that City are heading into this as the firm favourites but are their opponents being ruled out too quickly? Can we actually see a Spurs victory happen here?

Manchester City could equal the competition record of 8 trophy wins if they seal a victory here. Pep Guardiola's side have won 5 of the last 7 EFL Cup competitions including the last three finals and a win here would pull them level with Liverpool on 8 wins in total. The Citizens are in a great position to win the Premier League and they are through to the Semi-Finals of the Champions League. The club is boosted by the fact that both Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero are fit and available to play after short spells out injured. Bournemouth, Burnley, Arsenal, and Manchester United have already fallen victim to City in this competition.

Tottenham come into this game with the inexperienced caretaker head coach Ryan Mason at the helm. The 29 year old saw Spurs beat Southampton 2-1 in his first game in charge but there are still question marks over whether he has the experience needed for such a big challenge as this game. It would've been interesting to see how Jose Mourinho would have handled managing this Tottenham side in this final but alas he's gone and Mason is the man in charge. The north London club navigated their way past Leyton Orient, Chelsea, Stoke, and Brentford to reach this stage. It's uncertain if striker Harry Kane will be fit to be involved. The last trophy Tottenham won was the EFL Cup back in 2008 so they'll feel they can certainly compete for this one.

It's intriguing to see that Manchester City have only won 1 of the last 4 meetings between these two sides but that was the previous encounter when Tottenham lost 3-0. That's why Mourinho's sacking seemed a little odd because it looked like if anyone could steer this Tottenham side to victory in this cup final then it was him. Owner Daniel Levy made his decision though and it'll be Mason who leads Tottenham. I just can't see Tottenham doing the business here and even less so if it turns out Kane isn't fit to play. I totally agree with @StefanBB!
