So tomorrow, Melbourne Cup winning trainer runs Tower Bridge at 1330. Fairly catches the eye that he’s sending a handicap hurdler to a small British track in midweek. Top jockey on board too. Looks audacious but given the company he was running against in 2019 and the stand out trainer placing a horse here on a Thursday (!), 11/1 looks a massive Price. Not sure JP O’B would be going to this effort for a nice day out. We shall see!

Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March. This is a qualifying race and you must finish in the top six here to get through.

and This track is in the east of England so the journey is a 1,300-mile round trip. That is a long way to go for a race valued at just £10,000.

Thought the same myself, although it’s already been pointed out on here that it’s a qualifier for the pertemps and you only need to finish top 6. Still he hasn’t been sent over just to try and run into the top 6, surely.  On ATR the value of the race is  16k.

1in 2019 the official mark needed to get into the final was 134 and in 2020 it was 131 so off of 145 today he may just want to 'qualify' by finishing in the first 6 without his mark going up. The fact JP has three in the race makes it even more mystifying. Watch the market closely would be my advice!!

Looks like the idea was to qualify without giving the handicapper any reason to put him up !

Lesson learned for me then. Got my money back and a few quid profit for my troubles , so got away with it this time.
