Squirrel Nutkin
Reasoning: There are some really good tipsters out there. They know the sport inside out and they have time on their hands to do the research. Method: If I follow 10+ tipsters, who would most likely tip 4-5 selections, I'd probably end up with 30+ different picks. Based on the previews, and available value, I will narrow this down and choose 3 or 4 bets. Aim: First and foremost, to make a profit! Also I hope to become more disciplined when placing my own bets. My staking can be up and down, and I tend to throw money at silly longshots. So hopefully this thread will encourage me to keep things sensible. And in time maybe I will learn more about the sport, the different courses and the players, making bets with my own knowledge. I fully expect a slow start. I'll start the bank at 0 points. If it gets to -100 I'll knock it on the head! I don't suppose I will bet more than 10 points a week. Squirrel Nutkin
No joy on week 1. Lowry was looking good for a couple of rounds before falling away. Not one of the 'tipsters' picked the winner. The closest they came was 4 places (out of a possible 21, including ties) across the 2 main tournaments. Better luck this weekend ?? Squirrel Nutkin
A bit earlier than planned, but had to get 1 bet on before the price goes. Squirrel Nutkin
Glad I got Arnaus @ 33's, continued to be tipped/backed and is now 25's. Although last time there was such a strong selection, I think it was Lowry a few weeks ago, he didn't make the cut! Three more for the Italian Open: Laurie Canter 1pt ew @ 45/1 pp Joachim Hansen 1pt ew @ 45/1 betfred Justin Walters 0.5pt ew @ 125/1 pp And three for the ZOZO Championship: Collin Morikawa 1pt win @ 20/1 hills Bubba Watson 1pt ew @ 33/1 sky Russell Henley 1pt ew @ 45/1 pp Bank: -20 ?? Squirrel Nutkin
Bitterly disappointed that Canter didn't get the win. Had a chance to cash out for about 30pts, but let it run and just the 10pt return from him. Also 4.5pt return from Arnaus getting T5. Not all bad, but feel it should have been a 60pt return. I don't expect anything from ZOZO. Bubba could potentially get a place, and it was a great round from Henley yesterday. But i can't see past Thomas or Rahm. Squirrel Nutkin
Surprised to see Bubba and Henley both get a place. They return 17.5 points. That's 4 places out of 7 selections this weekend. Still gutted to miss out on the win in the Italian ? but after 3 weeks we're in profit ? Squirrel Nutkin
It seems the tipsters are getting their write-ups done earlier and earlier. The Cyprus Open is the preferred betting option this week, not so much for the Bermuda Championship which apart from 2 clear favourites appears to be wide open. Cyprus Open Joakim Lagergren 1.5pt ew @ 45/1 Sami Valimaki 1pt ew @ 28/1 Antoine Rozner 1pt ew @ 35/1 All 7 places 1/5 odds pp ------- Bermuda Championship Brendan Todd 1pt win @ 14/1 pp Paddy are doing 8 places in this, so possibly an outsider pick to come. 8 points staked. Squirrel Nutkin
Not too confident in Todd now. The most tipped are Zalatoris, Suh and Redman. But I'm going for a popular longshot in: Kramer Hickok 0.5pt ew @ 100/1 Took 7 places on Betfred, as pp 8 places was only 80/1. Bank: 3 points ?? Squirrel Nutkin
A disappointing finish for Valimaki, a 2 shot lead squandered on the back nine. Still, a 4.5 point return. In the Bermuda there's only 3 shots separating the top 15. Hickok currently T1. Would be a great win, but a place is more realistic. Anyway, will possibly hedge bets in running if there's value. Squirrel Nutkin
Well Hickok blew it. And maybe I should have taken 8 places, which would have returned 5 or 6 points. Not planning on doing much for this week, probably just a couple of picks. The Masters next week and there'll be loads of tips out there to get stuck in to. Squirrel Nutkin
I've not looked at too many previews for this week. But I've seen enough to make me follow a few tips. Squirrel Nutkin
I won't dwell on last week! Full steam ahead for The Masters. As expected there are tons of previews out there. But most are looking for some value, with DJ and BDC not that popular because of their skinny price. I feel the 6 most tipped players are a good mix of value, ranging from 16/1 to 70/1. Squirrel Nutkin
Close again. J Y Ko finished 2nd and returned 4 points. That's it for this year. Only kept track of P/L since October, and ended up 6 points down. Quite pleased that it didn't go horribly wrong, and definitely feel that next year could be a profitable one. I'll take this up again in January. ??

Squirrel Nutkin
I'm gutted that Niemann lost in a playoff, would have been the perfect start to the year. However, Reed also got a place so a total return of just over 12 points. That puts the bank level. Onwards and upwards.
Squirrel Nutkin
Haha, my mistake. I didn't stay up to watch it, and just had a blurry-eyed look at standings this morning!
