You don't have be a brain surgeon to work out that Mercedes like the circuit at Sochi, they have won every race since it began in 2014 and Lewis Hamilton has won it four times. Interestingly only one pole sitter has won so maybe qualifying is not so crucial this week.

Hamilton is 1/2 to win again and this week the bookies are taking no chances on Bottas and have him at only 9/4. Aside from the action on the track personally i'm getting a bit fed up of Hamilton treating F1 fans as some sort of fodder to his constant personal crusades.

I watch the news like everyone else and come to watch F1 to escape all of the crap thats going on in the world for a short while, i really dont need him carrying messages and pointing them at me at every opportunity and think he is in danger of becoming a bit annoying. I get what he's doing but I have had enough now. Rant over.

Interesting noises come out of the Mercedes camp who think their main man Lewis Hamilton could be compromised by starting the race on Soft tyres, both Bottas and Verstappen are on the Medium's and that could see a very interesting first few laps.

Hamilton is still the hot favourite but at 4/9 its a brave mans bet. The bookies are being very mean with Bottas and Verstappen around the 4/1 mark which makes the EW bet a little tight. I would certainly go with Verstappen this week, although Bottas gave us a little profit last time he missed an open goal and i'm beginning to wonder if he has lost his bottle a bit when racing at the front?

A safety car looks a cert around here for those looking for a short-priced bet, 4/11 is best on offer at Betvictor.

I'm going for over 16.5 finishers with bet365, i do expect issues but more than 3 cars would be a surprise.
A sporting bet on Gasly to make the top 6 from his starting point of 9th is worth doing, he has shown he can mix it with the best and has the Renault's and the McLaren's to beat which is not impossible, at the odds he looks value.
