It's taken a global pandemic and months of lockdown to try to stop it from happening but alas we will see the trophy lifted this season! It's Arsenal versus Chelsea in an all-London club tie that kicks off at 5:30pm on Saturday evening from Wembley. Which side can add their first trophy of the season to their cabinet with their final bit of domestic action for the campaign? Arsenal may be one of the most inconsistent clubs in the Premier League right now but nobody can deny they're also one of the most entertaining. Mikel Arteta is doing his best to turn the oil tanker into a new direction but a massive shift like that doesn't happen right away or without its logistical issues. The Gunners finished their league campaign in 8th place and only winning 2 of their final 5 league games but there are signs that the club is moving in the right direction. The 2-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup Semi-Final was proof of that. Chelsea are another side showing glimpses of the positive evolution currently going on at the club. Frank Lampard has shown faith in his younger players and it saw them seal a place in next season's Champions League with a 4th placed finish in the league. The Blues won 8 of their last 11 matches in all competitions. It's also 2 wins and 1 draw from their last 3 meetings with Arsenal in all competitions. Goals haven't been a problem for Lampard's side with over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of their last 11 matches since the restart. The fact they've already taken the scalps of Liverpool, Leicester, and Manchester United in the last three rounds of this competition shows they know how to get the better of their rivals in a cup competition. These two sides did meet in the FA Cup Final as recently as 2016/17 when Arsenal came out on top with a 2-1 victory. More than 2.5 goals were witnessed in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these two clubs. I'm expecting goals to be scored again here with Arsenal vulnerable defensively and Chelsea now showing themselves to be a side that take the game on the front foot. I think ultimately we'll see Chelsea sneak a win in a thrilling encounter.
