StevieDay1983
Roma vs Fiorentina The Italian Serie A season is winding to a close now but as the games pass by there is less and less to be settled. This clash between Roma and Fiorentina that is scheduled to kick-off at 6:30pm BST on Sunday evening is one game where there isn't a lot riding on it with the home side having sealed their spot in the Europa League and the away team set to finish comfortably in mid-table. Roma sit in 5th place and their place in next season's Europa League is confirmed. There is a chance they may qualify for the Champions League but they will need Juventus, Napoli, and Atalanta to do the business in this season's Champions League. Paulo Fonseca has seen his team suffer from a lack of consistency this season with periods of losses holding them back from breaking into the top four. However, the team is now on a run of 4 wins and 1 draw. There will undoubtedly be a desire for the club to end the season on a high. Fiorentina come into this game in 11th place with the team 16 points off the pace of the European qualification spots and 11 points clear of the relegation zone. Results have improved under Giuseppe Iachini after the departure of Vincenzo Montella. The club has now gone 6 league games unbeaten and the 0-0 draw away to Inter Milan in midweek showed they have the ability to go to the tough venues and grind out a result. Scoring goals has been an issue for the team this season with top scorer Federico Chiesa only getting 7 goals so far. Fortunately, no team has kept more clean sheets than Fiorentina in 2020 so their defensive displays have held their season together. I think this will be a close-run affair and I understand why a fair few people are backing Fiorentina to get a draw. I just can't see Roma not getting the win here. I appreciate their record at home against the teams in and round them hasn't been great but the pressure is off and they're playing a side that are also winding their season down with nothing to play for but pride. A tight one goal win for the home side wouldn't surprise me.
