StevieDay1983
The Bundesliga relegation play-off is coming up this week when the first leg between Werder Bremen and Heidenheim takes place. I'll be supporting Cardiff striker Robert Glatzel's former club Heidenheim as a thank you for giving us the heroic man! What bets are you all putting on this game? Tell us below! StevieDay1983
Werder Bremen vs Heidenheim The Bundesliga relegation play-off is taking place tonight in a 7:30pm BST kick-off when Bundesliga side Werder Bremen host Bundesliga II hopefuls Heidenheim at the Weser-Stadion. Outcomes and fates may not be decided tonight but we could know a lot more about who is in a better position to seal the victory on aggregate after the 90 minutes have been played. Werder Bremen will be wondering how on earth they find themselves in this position. Florian Kohfeldt had seen his team finish 8th last season and only narrowly miss out on qualifying for the Europa League. Fast forward 12 months and the team is now potentially 120 minutes away from suffering relegation to the second tier of German football. It was the 4 defeats from their last 6 league games that delivered the final nail in the coffin but in all truth it was the awful run from 2nd November to 7th March where they lost 11 of their 13 league matches. Home form has also been a big problem for Werder this year with the team winning just 2 of their 17 home league games this season. Heidenheim have a reputation for coming close to securing promotion to the Bundesliga over recent years but, for one reason or another, failing to get the job done. Frank Schmidt has been head coach with the club since 2007 and during that period he has guided them from being a fourth tier side in the Oberliga Baden-Wurttemburg to a team standing on the brink of reaching the top flight of German football. The side ended the season in reasonable form with 3 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses from their final 6 matches of the campaign. Even though Werder Bremen have endured their fair share of trials and tribulations this season I think this two-legged play-off is theirs to lose. Whatever has happened over the last season is mystifying but this is still a squad largely consisting of players and staff that led this side to the upper echelons of the Bundesliga just 12 months ago. I feel Werder will grab the win here and it just depends if they can see the job out away at Heidenheim in a few days time. StevieDay1983
OK, so last week's result seemingly caught a lot of people out so let's see if we can get something from the second leg that is due to take place on Monday night. Let us know the bets you are placing!
StevieDay1983
Heidenheim vs Werder Bremen The second leg of the Bundesliga relegation play-off is scheduled to take place on Monday night at 7:30pm BST between second tier Heidenheim and top flight Werder Bremen at the Voith-Arena. The tie is finely balanced after a 0-0 draw in the first leg so which team will seize the initiative and secure the win to either earn promotion or achieve survival depending on who earns the victory? Heidenheim stand on the brink of earning promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history. Head coach Frank Schmidt will be pleased with his side's efforts in the first leg but their inability to get that decisive goal will have left him frustrated. Even more so because it was against an opponent that has been vulnerable at home this season and was reduced to 10-men on 76 minutes after the sending off of Niklas Moisander. That draw now meant it's just 3 wins from their last 7 matches in all competitions. Still, they come into this match with home advantage and the opportunity is there for this set of players to create history for this small club from Baden-Wurttemburg. Werder Bremen know that they need a big performance in this game. Head coach Florian Kohfeldt will surely see his job under threat if the giants of German football suffer a humiliating relegation to Bundesliga II by failing to win this tie. The team were fortunate enough to get away with that 0-0 draw despite having a men sent off with 14 minutes remaining. The team has won 3 of their last 4 leagues matches on the road so they'll be quietly confident they can seal the win. The absence of Moisander for this game could be an issue but we'll see. I am torn for this game. There is so much pressure on the Werder Bremen players to deliver a result here. Relegation is almost unfathomable for a club the size of Werder but that's the grim reality facing them. Heidenheim had their opportunity to put this tie to bed last week but they failed. I think that could come back to haunt them. A narrow Werder Bremen win is on the cards here. allyhibs
Ok, so it's like that then!! After 3 bets in a row over the weekend all got bust by a late goal, this one loses to a 97th minute penalty. FFS! Sometimes the betting gods are taking the piss.

Yeah, due to the drinks breaks in games it's making the late goals even more crushing! Feel so sad for Heidenheim fans though. Always like to see an underdog defy the odds.
