calva decoy
It's nice reading some kind of opening timetable for UK Racing to start with Newcastle taking the mantle on June 1st with an 8 card meeting & maximum of 12 runners per race , surprised it's not a minimum 10 race card but I suppose new safety measures come first. Will be interesting to see what extra security measures Newmarket put in place for the Guineas meetings , I can imagine a plethora of dog walkers ( with binoculars ) conveniently taking a stroll on the open public grounds around the time of the off ! Darran
I think divisions will be allowed so we will see more races.

I know at Epsom a big fence is being put around the perimeter as its mostly public land. I reckon Newmarket will be well cordoned off. Cant wait now although it wont be much fun punting in the first couple of weeks i'm guessing! calva decoy

If one thing Hong Kong & US Racing has taught me with lockdown is don't jump in too quickly look & learn as with UK Racing it'll be the familiar trainers , jockeys & horses but with season 10 weeks later than normal , it's going to be different , take time again & follow those in form yards . Noodle bowl
What do you think the chances are of the Irish turning up at the Guinea's meeting if it goes ahead
Darran
I think betting on uk and Irish racing will be a nightmare to start with. They have both been working to unknown start dates until now so trainers will have been training them differently. Paddock watchers would probably have done best but obviously they won’t be allowed in! Think we are set to find out about international horses shortly but the impression was they would be allowed which surprised me. As for building a fence around Newmarket I would be surprised if they did that. They have to do it at Epsom because they have to close off the middle as it’s part of the Downs so anyone can walk there. A lot harder to get to the heath at Newmarket
Trotter
Now that we have some positive news about the resumption in the UK and Ireland I'm tempted to take a bit of break for a couple of weeks and 'recharge the batteries' ready for the off As others have said above it might be a punters nightmare for a while with not knowing which horses are fit and so on ....... but that's the same as the start of any season And at least you can look at the back form and see which horses have run well after a break and which ones might need the run ...... trainers methods come into this as well and it'll be trainers that we know I might take a peek at any Group races in France but I think I'll just skip the day to day stuff in the US and Hong Kong and anywhere else and we'll have some top flight Footy to watch from tomorrow ! Ja, Wunderbar ...... ?

Ja, Wunderbar ...... ? I think this is different though. Don't forget we weren't far from the start of the flat season and horses would have been working towards targets in March/April and no doubt all trainers will have acted differently to the situation. There was also hope at one stage it could have been May 1st. Horses could well go over the top having not been able to run when they were close to being ready to. I'm not sure normal rules will apply. Just take Pinatublo as an example. He would have been getting tuned to the minute for May 2nd and that has been forced to change without knowing until this week when the Guineas will be. Not saying he wont win, but it adds a massive unknown factor to things.
