Off to France for the first time on Monday

3 meetings one early, one mid afternoon and one late, very accommodating of the French.

 

Concentrating on Longchamp (Flat) and Compiegne (Jumps)

3 from Longchamp

1125: Chorba 13/8 bet365
1155: Victor Ludorum 4/6 betvic
135: Wasmya 9/2 Lads

3 from Compiegne

435: Bipolaire 2/1 bet365
535: Miss Enrique 6/1 bet365

ATR has the best form, including video form

the RP miss some races out.

Gone with 3 short priced favourites who were the best horse in their division last season ..... but obviously it's a lottery with not knowing how fit they are. Also bear in mind that the French Way is to use trials as trials and they don't necessarily have their horses fully tuned up for a trial race if they're aiming for a big race in a few weeks time. Whereas horses who haven't got any pretensions of winning the big one will be ready to rock for the trail, which will be a valuable prize in its own right, so I'd be surpised if more than one of those shorties won

Another possible angle is to follow a trainer who's renowned for getting his horses fit early on in the season and plundering the early prizes, that's J-C Rouget. To be fair to him he has developed into a much more formidable operator in the last few years and might be losing the tag of the early season specialist, but he's got 4 runners tomorrow ....... all with chances.

Recorded half Longchamp meeting & watched last half live , nice to hear some UK commentary , wouldn't have a bet as I won't when UK Racing starts not for a few weeks anyway.

As for French Jumps , time wise they're worse than US Racing around 15 mins late every race , can't see it growing on me ?

Toulouse is running over 1 hour late .

Other than main meetings on ATR in France I've not really watched lower level racing , I don't think I'll be rushing back !

Jumps are strange where they actually jump a hurdle or fence then go back & start again , be a nightmare if you backed one that fell at the 1st before the race actually starts ? roll on June 1st .
