StevieDay1983
Emmen vs VVV Well, last week saw our two tips come good in very convincing fashion. On that occasion we backed Sparta to put Emmen to the sword at Evens and they did so convincingly with a 5-1 drubbing. This week, we turn to the losers of last week to deliver a positive result for us. It's Emmen versus VVV in a 6:45pm GMT kick-off on Saturday evening at the Oude Meerdijk with plenty up for grabs in this game. Emmen have a huge challenge ahead of them this week. The hammering received against Sparta last week has seen Dick Lukkien's side stay in 12th place and drop off the pace of the sides above them. Only 4 points separate them from the relegation places now. The pressure is cranking up. Fortunately, they can put their away woes behind them and focus on building on that impressive home record that consists of 8 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses from their 12 home league games so far. VVV are in a similar predicament to their opponents in this game. Head coach Hans de Koning was brought in on New Year's Day to turn the club's fortunes around. The team is now in 13th place but only 3 points above the relegation zone. Losing 8 of their 12 away league matches hasn't been the best platform for their away days. However, a 7 league game unbeaten run is impressive for a team in their situation and the fact they've now not conceded in over 291 minutes of league football shows they're grinding out those results. I'm not sure this is the best game for Emmen after the gut-wrenching manner of last week's defeat. It wasn't a surprise given their away form this season but how does a team come back from that? They play a VVV side that are growing in confidence and with such a tight defensive unit in front of them I'm not even sure they can get the win. Still, they've delivered the goods more often than not at home this season so I'm going to show my appreciation for them rolling over last week by backing them to win this week!
