StevieDay1983 Posted February 3, 2020 Author Share Posted February 3, 2020 Denizlispor vs Goztepe Our weekly Monday preview for the Turkish Super Lig is a little bit later than usual due to the annual PuntersLounge.com poker championship that a few of us attended over the weekend. Been playing a bit of catch up today because of that. The match we're looking at is Denizlispor versus Goztepe in a 5pm GMT kick-off with the action coming from the Denizli Ataturk Stadium in Denizli. Denizlispor are ranked in 12th place coming into this crucial game between two sides that are close rivals in terms of general geographical positioning this season. Manager Mehmet Ozdilek has led his team to 7 points above the relegation zone. It's a decent gap between themselves and the bottom three but a couple of results going against them could pile the pressure on. The team has only won 2 of their 9 home league games this season so will want to rectify that here. Unfortunately, it's now 7 games without a win in all competitions for the hosts. Goztepe will want to progress on up with the table with the club currently in 8th place and just 8 points off the pace of the European qualification places with a game in hand on their rivals. Manager Ilhan Pulat has improved the club's position in the league hugely compared to their 15th placed finish last season. Solid away will certainly make them feel they can take something from this game having earned at least a point in 60% of their matches on the road in the league. Being unbeaten in their last three matches across all competitions is not bad preparation for this game either. The ELO ratings could very well guide me here. Turkish football has a habit of punishing you if you fancy backing the away side. It's one of the toughest leagues in the world for away sides to pick up points. However, I feel Goztepe are in the far better form and Denizlispor need to be careful that this streak without a win doesn't become really detrimental to their survival hopes. I think the away side could be worth the value here.
