Sivasspor vs Rizespor

The weekly Turkish Super Lig preview covers the 5pm GMT kick-off between Sivasspor and Rizespor at the Sivas Stadium today. The league leaders will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table against a visiting side that are in danger of being sucked into a potential relegation battle unless their results turn around soon. Which side will get what they want from this game?

Sivasspor fans are loving life right now with the team sitting on top of the Turkish top flight table. Manager Riza Calimbay is exceeding expectations right now as his group of players could move 6 points clear ahead of second placed Fenerbahce with a win tonight. 8 wins and 1 draw from their 9 home league so far this season is enough to want to back the home side to pick up the win in its own right. The fact that they haven't lost in the league since 18th October is another.

Rizespor were a proper let down last week as they won instead of drawing. Despite the win, head coach Ismail Kartal's men are in 11th place and only 8 points above the relegation zone. That might seem like a fair distance but a couple of results going the wrong way and they're right back in the mix. They come into this game with one of the worst away records in Turkish football having picked up just 7 points on the road in the league this season. Only Kayserispor have a worse record.

Everything is pointing towards a home win here and the odds just about make that a worthwhile punt. The home side might have lost their second leg cup game in midweek but that was purely because they'd built up such a comprehensive lead from the first leg. I really can't see the away side getting anything from this and the home team may even win by a couple of goals.
