RANGERS V YOUNG BOYS

I would love to see Menorca face this Swiss side just so we could say it's "MEN against BOYS".

As far as ELO ratings go there is nothing between these 2.

However Rangers have steadily returned to a force to be reckoned with this season. Not only domestically but in Europe as well. They've been impressive whether home or away but everyone knows that Ibrox is one of the most difficult places to go and get a result. They'll be licking their wounds after a 1-0 defeat to arch rivals Celtic last Sunday where they effectively outplayed their opponents to the point of embarrassment. Possibly the most one-sided Old Firm affair, certainly in recent times. They bombarded them and hit them with everything, missing a penalty along the process. All but putting the ball in the back of the net they were quite superb.

Now, they head in to their final Europa League group fixture sitting proudly but very, very precariously at the top. All 4 teams can still qualify from the group. 3 points separate top and bottom. However this is a Rangers side who swept aside Porto 2-0 and outclassed Feyenoord 1-0 in their other 2 home fixtures so far. Young Boys are arguably an easier task. Rangers should have got at least a point away to the Swiss side but for poor defending and a last second winner. They were the best team for the most part and could have put the game to bed after going into the second half 1-0 in front. However this time out they'll have an eager and encouraging 50,000 support behind them as they hope to fire their way into the knockout stages. If they play half as well as they did against Celtic at the weekend they should cruise through. Realistically that's not how Rangers do things so it will probably be a nail biting but ultimately happy ending for the Glasgow side.

Rangers have scored 44 goals in 13 home games across all competitions this season. They have scored at least 1 goal in every home match. That stat averages out at 3.38 goals per home match - and that's just goals for. So the over 2.5 goals odds of 1.87 seems pretty generous. On top of that, only a win is good enough for Young Boys to progress to the next round, so there is no fear of them coming to defend or sit back. This will suit Rangers down to the ground and if the game opens up there is no doubt that Gerrard's men will provide more in terms of firepower than their Swiss counterparts.

Rangers To Win Draw No Bet @ 1.40

Over 2.5 @ 1.87

Prediction: Rangers 3 - 1 Young Boys

The defeat by Krasnodar in the last match has put Basel in the position of needing a win today to take the lead in the group. Trabzonspor is just 1 point behind in 5 games and has long regarded the Europa League as a bargain. The coach gives her players opportunities to emerge from the academy, and defensively she does not inspire confidence. The Swiss want the match and will get it easily
FC BASEL 1893 vs TRABZONSPOR @@ -1.50 Ah FC BASEL 1893, odds 1.70

Both teams typically need the points to win to keep their hopes of qualifying alive. I believe that the Standar coach will ask players to play aggressively in order to have hope. But Arsenal have good players and they will have plenty of free space. I'm looking forward to an exciting and effective match in Liege, with many goals
STANDARD LIEGE vs ARSENAL FC @@ +2.50 Over, odds 1.60

Indifferent scoring game, but everyone is motivated to take the trio for personal reasons. Sevilla will not be shut down as she has no reason to do so. It will have a lot of changes to the defense and this may cost it, as the Cypriots want to get results for psychological reasons. Both teams have a point to score

Apoel is boring and slow moving team. Now they are under new and not experienced coach.  Apoel with the best available line up.

Sevilla travel to Cyprus with almost second team. However i see some players in line up, who are above in quality from Apoel squad.

Sevilla is targeting the 6/6 wins in the competition, and even with reserve mostly players, they are more than capable to beat this weak Apoel side.

Any other result than Away win, will be surprise in my eyes. I don't credit Apoel with a single cent when the issue is against Sevilla. The coach of Apoel obviously loser, he said that there is no chance to remain as Apoel coach! hahaha

10/10 confidence

Wolves vs Besiktas

The Europa League group stages draw to a conclusion tonight. Group K is the focus of our attention for this first preview where Premier League side Wolves will look to finish on a high against Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas in this 8pm GMT kick-off at Molineux. The home side needed a late winner to get the win against their opponents out in Turkey and with plenty of youngsters set to be given a start is this a game where the value is in the away team?

Wolves are currently on a run of 9 games unbeaten. Nuno Santo's future with the club had been thrown into doubt when his name was linked with the vacant Arsenal job. Those rumours have now gone quiet but it shows how highly the former Portuguese keeper is rated as a gaffer. The club from the Black Country have already qualified and Santo has stated he won't be confirming his team until the last minute but it is "a good opportunity for us to prepare ourselves and compete well for the future". Youngsters such as Chem Campbell, Luke Cundle, and Taylor Perry could be in line for starts.

Besiktas will want to finish this European campaign on a high. A solitary home 2-1 win against Slovan Bratislava was a rare highlight in a group that has seen them fall to the bottom of the group. Their performances have probably warranted more but that's the cruel world of European football. Head coach Abdullah Avci will be aware that a win here could well see his team finish 3rd in the group so that's motivation for them to come and try to take all 3 points.

Personally, I think a bet backing Besiktas as a double chance option is where the best value can be found. Wolves will certainly be resting a number of key first team players with qualification secured and a hectic domestic schedule coming up over Christmas. Besiktas will field a full strength side if they want to push to avoid finishing bottom of the group and I think they will.

Manchester United vs AZ

The second preview of this final round of Europa League group stage games is in Group L where Premier League club Manchester United face Dutch Eredivisie side AZ in an 8pm GMT kick-off at Old Trafford. Both sides have secured their qualification for the last 32 so it'll be interesting to see what sort of teams they field in this game. I'm expected United to field a similar squad to the one that lost 2-1 out in Astana in their last group game but I'm less certain about the visitors.

Manchester United have got a bit of confidence back after back-to-back wins over Tottenham and Manchester City. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that fielding such a youthful side for the game out in Kazakhstan enabled his players to be fresh for those two matches. That would suggest he'll repeat the selection here with a busy festive scheduled approaching in the league. Jesse Lingard is out injured with Paul Pogba still sidelined. Solskjaer might see it as an opportunity to offer some minutes to the likes of Nemanja Matic and Phil Jones.

AZ needed late drama to secure a 2-2 draw at home to Partizan Belgrade in their last group game. Two goals from youngster Ferdy Druijf in the 88th and 92nd minute sealed their place in the knockout round. This is likely to see them field fringe players for this game. It was a 0-0 bore draw when these two sides met earlier in the group stage. The only doubt I have about Arne Slot fielding a weakened team is that first place in the group is still up for grabs and they might see a victory over United as a huge scalp.

Hmm, this is a tricky one. I want to back United to win but those odds aren't tempting at all given the likelihood of a weakened team. I'm willing to take a punt on AZ fielding a stronger team and backing them to a degree to get something from this game. Solskjaer knows the job is done and he'd be happy sacrificing top spot in the group if it means his players are fresher for the Christmas schedule in the Premier League.

@delfino: really interested in your points re Thomas doll. Are they really that bad Apoel and him?

Been studying best options tonight.cant see past..

1) Getafe ( short odds but must win)

2) Rennes v Lazio BTTS ( neither anything to play for..)

3) Rangers ( NAP)

Pays around 5.8/1

Getafe already hold the second position on goal differential, and they won at Krasnodar, so they are through with a draw.
