In her court she always has the first reason for winning. Both teams do not open their scoring, which is why they have more than 2.5 under. StevieDay1983 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Share Posted November 30, 2019 Rennes vs St Etienne The French Ligue 1 action has a number of cracking fixtures coming up this weekend but the focus of our preview this week is the 4pm GMT kick-off this Sunday at Roazhon Park where Rennes host St Etienne. This is a game where the ELO ratings could really come into their own with them backing the home side heavily even though the visitors are in superb form. Rennes are in a comfortable mid-table position in 11th place in the table. Head coach Julien Stephan had appeared to have turned his team's fortunes around with back-to-back victories at home versus Toulouse and Amiens. However, the 2-1 loss away to Dijon in their previous league game put a quick halt to that momentum. The positive news is that Rennes are looking very positive on the attack with 9 goals scored in their last 4 league matches. St Etienne continue to enjoy a really positive start to their league season. Claude Puel has come in and fixed the awful start the club endured under Ghislain Printant. Since Puel came in on 4th October, the club has now remained unbeaten for 6 league games. It's a run of results that has moved them up to 5th in the table and only outside the automatic European qualification spots due to goal difference. This is a run that includes three wins from their last three away league matches. If you were simply looking at form coming into this game then you'd be forgiven for thinking St Etienne have got this game tied up. Look a little deeper and you see that even Rennes haven't been in the best of form their performance levels, particularly at home, have suggested they have deserved more from their recent games. There's not a lot separating these two teams so I'm going to have to back a draw in this one.
