Xcout
I would like to go, but I see it unlikely due to where I am located. avongirl
ian309
This is great news, already sorted it with SWMBO ? I spent an hour or so trawling hotel websites last night. If anyone finds somewhere decent, in close proximity to RW and at a reasonable price could you post it up on here please ?
ian309
Ended up going for the Travel Lodge at Sheldon, about three miles away. £58 non-refundable, £67 can cancel up until noon on the day, room only. avongirl

Bart(UK)
Awesome. Was thinking of this a month or two back when a facebook memory came up, but then real life distracted me and never got around to doing anything about it. Will be amazing to catch up with everyone again! ian309 and avongirl

Bart(UK)
With the Genting hotel (which I was impressed with last time) seemingly already fully booked and before noticing Ian's post, I've booked into a b&b 1 train stop/short taxi/3 miles down the road. Reviews/pics seem good although of course the room will be basic. They do have a 2nd room if anyone is looking for a cheap option, £50 single occupancy of double room with breakfast, parking on the road. I've checked & they're happy for me to roll in merrily at 2am/3am although I've of course promised to be as quiet as I can be. It is however a PL do, so might just turn up for breakfast! ? Message me for details. Other hotel options locally still available from around £92 to £163 from the usual hotel comparison sites.

ian309
I am getting vibes that the APAT Team Event may well be happening on the same weekend as as the PL Poker Championships. I want to stress that this is not 'confirmed' but I would exercise caution when booking hotels without a cancellation clause until such time as an announcement is made. I really can't see how they could organise it so quickly. We are usually asked to submit team applications in October for a January date, and even when it was March teams were submitted in November. I'm not worried (much! ?)

The longer it takes for them to make an announcement, the more likely it is that they will not be able to organise VCG in time for the end of January. It wouldn't do any harm to put some feelers out on Sunday though Wayne avongirl
ian309
I've just received a message from Wayne to the effect that his sources state that the APAT TE is definitely not at VGC and the date for it is still undecided, so there's no clash with the PL weekend. Phew ! Full steam ahead for Resorts World then avongirl and muttley

muttley
My two penneth. If anyone would be out of pocket due to hotel cancellations, we should stick with the original date and forego our place in the APAT comp. avongirl

Anyway, we haven't had a Punters Lounge Poker Championships for a while and they are always more fun than any other tourney. muttley

There's every chance that there may be a restriction on the number of teams, and with it being rushed, registration and buying-in could end up being a bun fight. I have the cancellation clause for the Travelodge anyway but if there are enough willing souls I'd much rather stick to Plan A and do the PL tourney Edited December 16, 2019 by ian309 muttley and avongirl
