Famalicao vs Moreirense

The Portuguese Primeira Liga is a tricky one to call this week so I thought it was about time we covered a game involving this season's main surprise package. It's former pace setters Famalicao versus lower mid-table strugglers Moreirense in an 8:30pm GMT kick-off this Saturday evening at the Estadio Municipal 22 de Junho Vila Nova de Famalicao (the longest stadium name ever?!).

Famalicao earned promotion to the Primeira Liga in 2nd place from the LigaPro last season. A cracking start to the season saw Joao Pedro Sousa's men fly to the top of the league. Results have tightened up lately but the club remains in 3rd place with 23 points from their 10 league games so far. It had seemed that reality had hit in the 3-0 loss away to Porto at the end of last month but a courageous 2-2 draw away to Braga in their last game suggested this Famalicao side aren't going anywhere any time soon. A 100% win record at home means they've turned their home ground into a fortress already.

Moreirense are flying below the radar but not in a good way. Vitor Campelos has seen his team struggle to find consistent form. The club is currently in 13th place with 10 points from 10 league matches and they're now just 5 points above the relegation zone. No wins from their 5 away league games doesn't bode well for them heading to this venue where the hosts have proved invincible so far.

I have to back the Primeira Liga new boys on their own patch. The superb home record against a side that have laboured on their travels seems too good to turn down. Moreirense haven't won in the league since 30th August and they've only picked up 2 points on the road. It would buck a troubling spell of results if the visitors do get something here but the hosts seem a fair price.

Santa Clara vs Benfica

Benfica was disappointing against Lyon, i really expected more from he team. But this is the Portuguese League again and the leader won't find much trouble to beat the Azorean team. Sold out stadium and the extra motivation as rivals in the league will play a tough match away from home.

Don't know if Ferro is fully recovered from the injury suffered Tuesday but Jardel is there if needed. Seferovic scored against Lyon and probably is back in starting lineup.
