StevieDay1983
Emmen vs Fortuna Sittard The Dutch Eredivisie is a tough batch of matches to go through this weekend so I'm going to play it reasonably safe by looking at the bottom-of-the-table clash between Emmen and Fortuna Sittard in a 1:30pm BST kick-off this Sunday afternoon at the Oude Meerdijk. Both teams have struggled to make an impression this season but with the ELO ratings heavily favouring a home win it makes sense to look at that outcome. Emmen are in 15th place in the top flight of Dutch football with just 7 points from their 9 league games so far. It leaves Dick Lukkien's side hovering just 1 point and one place above the relegation play-off spots. Their fans will have a bit of optimism coming into this game because Emmen have looked decent in their past two matches on home turf with a 3-0 win over ADO Den Haag and a hard-fought 3-3 draw against Feyenoord where they were only denied all 3 points by a last minute equaliser from Luciano Narsingh. Fortuna Sittard will desperately want to take something from this game. Sjors Ultee's men are currently occupying 17th place in the division with just 6 points from 9 league games. Only the awful RKC Waalwijk are stopping them from being rock bottom of the table. Despite their form recently picking up with an impressive 4-2 win at home to Feyenoord and a 0-0 draw at home to Sparta (albeit against 10 men) their away form this season is terrible. Just 1 point earned on the road and 14 goals conceded in their 4 away matches. I think this leaky Fortuna Sittard defence is going to be their downfall again here. Emmen are solid enough at home and have shown they have goals in the locker. Combine that with Fortuna's inability to keep a clean sheet on their travels and it could be a painful watch for their fans. I'm expecting a standard home win with goals aplenty so this could be one to watch if you have access to the game being televised.
