StevieDay1983 Posted October 7, 2019 Author Share Posted October 7, 2019 Lamia vs Panetolikos The Greek Super League action continues into the Monday night this week with the match between Lamia and Panetolikos taking place at 6pm BST at the Lamia Municipal Stadium. Neither team has endured the best of starts to this league season in the top flight of Greek football so they will both feel this is a game they can win to hopefully ignite their campaign. Lamia currently sit in 12th place with just 3 points from their opening 5 league games. Sotiris Antoniou's men have drawn three games to reach that points tally so it's perhaps a position they feel does not justify their battling performances. However, two defeats in their last three league games and a winless run of five competitive matches suggests that morale is teetering on the edge. Panetolikos are not any better off than their opponents for this game. Head coach Luis Castro will be keen to see him team take something from this game having lost all 5 of their league games so far. Embarrassingly, the club are only saved from being bottom of the league because bottom-placed side Panionios started the season on -6 points and have only managed a win and a draw so far to take them to -2 points. This match might not be one for the purists but it could be action-packed. Both teams are low on confidence right now but the backing has to go to the home side. Even though they've failed to pick up a win this season they are not as bad as their opponents who have conceded an average of 2 goals per game. It might not be a pretty game but I think the home side will be kicking themselves if they don't take all 3 points here.
