StevieDay1983
KAA Gent vs KV Mechelen The Belgian First Division A enters its seventh round of action as KAA Gent face KV Mechelen in a 5pm BST kick-off this Sunday at the Ghelamco Arena in Ghent. Both teams have started this season well so far and this is now a chance for one of these clubs to push on and make a serious statement about being potential title contenders for this coming campaign. KAA Gent are situated in a promising 6th place just inside the Championship Play-Off positions. Jess Thorup's men will want to improve on their 5th placed finish last season and with a vital game in hand on the teams around them they can make a big push up the table by winning this game against a decent KV Mechelen side. KAA Gent have a perfect record at home this season having scored 11 goals and conceded 3 on home turf so far. KV Mechelen are enjoying their first season back in the top flight of Belgian football after promotion from Belgian First Division B. Wouter Vrancken will be keen to take something away from this game. His side are currently 3rd in the league table and a victory could move them top of the pile which would be an incredible achievement for the division's new boys. The home form of KAA Gent is the big pull for me. They've been scoring for fun at home with a 3-2 win versus Cercle Brugge, a 6-1 battering of Eupen, and a business-like 2-0 victory against KV Oostende. KV Mechelen have been inconsistent on the road with 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss. KAA Gent are also unbeaten against KV Mechelen in 5 meetings at home and KV Mechelen have also failed to win either of their last two away league games. A solid home win is on the cards.
